GT5 1.10 update interferring with online play

I deleted all cars from the favourites folder just to try and free up some tiny amount of memory. I do have 900+ cars though, and had 100 in favourites. I'm guessing PSN friends and online active PSN friends will use up memory, but isn't XMB system memory separate from game memory anyway, so no resources are shared? But GT5 does interact with other GT5 owning friends, will have to try my spare account with no friends and only 5 garage cars to see if it ever does the slow down.

Yeah its been very bad lately. The other night its was the final race of GTPFIA league and it crashed for all @ 1hr 30 min into a 2hr race.:ouch:

This is the ONLY post in this whole forum that has any relation to the truth pertaining to the 3.66 update for ps3 and the 1.10 update for gt5. Something you may want to check as well is the "media server" function on the XMB.. turn it off while playing unless you are just copying tunes for a mac (thats right i said it) on you network to your ps3. Then Import tunes to your game with the media server off. Keep your playlists smallish (30 songs max). Oh and empty your hd as much as you can... OR if you are completely neurotic like me go buy an ssd, format it for PS3 and plop it in and... poof! not more hanging.
Which basically proves that the post quoted above is absolutely correct. Last thing turn chat down to low!!!! its a bandwidth hog and ram hog and general nuisance... Your online gaming willl be much better without it.

Well for one thing the firmware updates have been freeing up memory, not reducing it. Devs have more of the PS3's RAM to play with now than they did a year ago. Secondly I have an SSD in my PS3 and it still hangs for me.

I don't think 1.10 is the problem, I think it's a combination of custom BGM and the 3.66 update.

Many other users of both this game, and others, have noticed stability issues (hang ups, frozen screens, etc.) since 3.66 was released.

Kaz has tweeted that PD is working on stability on their end, but as usual there's never a timeline.

A cursory glance at the billions of threads posted here daily about this issue leads me to believe that

A- yes, they know about it.

and...

B- yes, they're (Sony and PD) are working on it.

After wasting 30 minutes last night trying to gift a damn museum card, I understand the frustration at not being able to enjoy what we paid for. That being said, at the moment, there's also not a lot we can do about it.

For "preventative" measures, please do the following:

1. Clear your system cache.
It's in your Network Options. No evidence that this helps, but it has been known to improve loading times in the past. If your PS3 talks to PDs servers, clear your system cache daily.

2. Disable custom soundtracks. Kaz mentioned this in a tweet a few weeks ago. Again, if your PS3 talks to PD servers (online races, Seasonal events, Remote Racing, item gifting- even the free paints and cards, etc.), you'd probably be better off listening to the car anyway. Most have reported a noticable improvement with Seasonals after doing this simple step.

3. Reset your internet connection before playing. See that power cord on the back of your modem? Yank it, then replace it BEFORE you power up your PS3 and access the network, let alone play GT5.

4. Pray to deity of choice. Might seem blasphemous, but who else are you going to call? (Ghostbusters is too obvious) Maybe YOU will be the lucky one Jesus/Mohammed/Allah/Xenu/Santa/Tooth Fairy will answer, and maybe they'll grant your one wish to fix your games and PS3. Probably not, though.

If all that fails, proceed to Sony customer support. They're about as useful as #4 anyway.

Good luck

I've noticed stalling when loading the next track, sometimes for several minutes.

Another interesting thing...today I was in a lobby, we were doing a PP race on Cape Ring Periphery, I think there were 10 or so racers. During the race several people reported not seeing any one else on the track. At the end of the race in the room the game was showing 3 different people at the same time as 1st place finishers, then after it showed those 3, it showed yet another 4th person also as a 1st place finisher.

Also, I just recently purchased the F2010 and started doing the Ferrari Formula One seasonal event (not sure of the official name of it.) I've only completed one of the races (gold on first attempt at Indy Road Course) and my F2010 shows 2 car changes, 0 wins and 0 miles. Whats up with that?

Totally agree Mr poopy, its happening all the time lately and is becoming really frustrating. Lets hope the updates keep coming and these black screen problems disappear from GT5 just like my 'friend' T1GGER4KAT has.....:sly:

LOL GT :D ya mad as owt lol
