Hi,
First of all, sorry if this is the wrong forum. I have done multiple google searches but I haven't found anything. So here goes:

I installed the 2.10 update and it worked fine, most of the time. But after the 2.11 update I haven't been able to open anything without getting the GT5 loading screen. It opens up the the main menu with a black background but once you click on anything the game loads for ever. Nothing ever opens.

Extra info: I am running an American copy of the game on a European PSN on a Japanese PS3. Everything has been fine before. I also managed to get the free DLC cars by downloading them on a US PSN and getting the family upgrade. GT5 works fine on the US PSN but I have no cars and I don't want to start again for the third time.

I'm shooting in the dark here but did you get the US update? If you got the European update that may be what's causing the problem.

Edit: US & Japan both run NTSC, European is PAL

Make it easy on yourself:

Japanese PS3
Japanese GT5
Japanese PSN Account

This is why people have issues, it's not the update it's you. Why don't people just use what they're suppose to?

What do you mean? Are there different updates for different regions? As I said earlier, GT5 ran fine on my old Japanese PS3 with an EU PSN. Also, this is the same disk.

...*clip*... Are there different updates for different regions?

Yes, There are 3 regions and each has it's own updates. I suspect the problem is that you are running a European PSN (PAL) on an NTSC system and disk and now the video format difference from the European update may be tripping you up.

I have no answer as to why it may have worked before and to be honest am not entirely sure that's what your problem is now either but mixing everything up like that is a bit like holding a ticking bomb....bound to go bang sooner or later
