I don’t know if it is possible, but maybe some of you have tried this and succeeded.
The scenario is this. You have one guy sitting in one location playing GT5. He is playing online or in arcade mode, with no onscreen information (race info display off). In another location, like another room, there are spectators looking at a screen, displaying the same view as the guy playing the game, but with onscreen information (race info display all).
One option is to buy a HDMI splitter and have the same view displayed on 2 screens. This is just a copy of the view.
But what if you use the multiscreen option. 2 screens, 2 PS3 and 2 copies of GT5, setup in a LAN network. Both Screens a set to server, insted of one server and one client. Is it then possible to make different display settings (the race info display) on the 2 screens even though the views on both screens are the same (cockpit view)?
I haven’t tested this, but maybe some of you have. There are several reasons for this setup, if it is possible.
We are a party who is going to do a 24 hour race. To make it a little more realistic, the driver will have no information on the screen at all. But in another room it could be fun to have a race engineer and spectators, being able to have all the race info, like fuel, tires, times, position and so on and through a headset being able to communicate all the info to the driver.
If someone have done it, it would be nice to have the settings for the entire setup.

A Mazda MX5 works great as a race simulator for GT5 :)

That is a fantastic simulator indeed! Despite the obvious choice of having two players online, one simply spectating and one racing I can't think of any other way. The only problem is, of course, that the spectators will have to use GT5's replay camera angles , but you could at least have two separate information displays. If I were you (and by the looks off that setup, I wish I was  ) I'd have a filter with the multiscreen options and try to make it work.

The absoloute best of luck, and please make some videos of it once you get it working! 👍

GT5 has no LAN mode. But so long as both are connected to the same switch and the switch is connected to the internet, there's no reason you can't do it - it forms the basis of our 14th and 15th UKGTP events, recently the subject of a GTP blog article.

Both Screens a set to server, insted of one server and one client.

Can't do this - no LAN mode.

Yep. The screen shows whatever you tell the PS3 to tell it - so if the guy driving has all of his HUD information turned off on his PS3 he'll see no on-screen data, while if you go to "Watch Race" on the second PS3, you can watch whatever you want with whatever information you want - even the timing screen - with one restriction. You can only view his car in cinematic mode during the race.

Thank you
Yes the spectator option works great for online race, so no problem there. But this is for a 24 hours race offline, where it could be a fun feature to have a race engineer helping the driver.
My MX5 racecar is placed in the garage for the winter, so I thought of a way to put it into use, by installing my G25 setup and PS3 in the passenger side.

Indeed, but the absence of a LAN mode makes that impossible, sadly.

Mind you, it wouldn't have been possible in GT4 either - the LAN mode there was effectively limited to 99 laps of any track and used arcade mode cars.

What I mean by using LAN, is that when you put up a multi screen system, you use LAN to connect the PS3’s. We are not using LAN to race against each other. If that is the case we just race online.
I was just wondering if any one using multi screen system, have tried to set more than one screen as a server (if it is possible), and in that way having 2 PS3’s displaying the same view on 2 separate screens and you could disable the HUD on one of the screens.
I know it is a bit weird, but it might be pretty cool, taking on the Le Mans or Nürburgring 24H, with a driver and a race engineer in a sort of co-op.

Succes. Funny that no one have ever tried this version of racing i GT5.
What I have done is to use the multi monitor mode. The setup is 2 playstations, 2 screens and 2 copies of GT5. The 2 screens is one for the driver and one for the race engineer. The screen for the engineer is set to be the server screen. The screen that actualy runs the race. The second screen is set to client. In the settings both screens is set to 1x1, insted of 1x3 or 1x5 screens. The screen that the driver looks at is the client screen. On this screen there is no information at all, so no HUD (it is not possible to set this screen to cockpit view).
So now the system is ready for race. The race engineer is sitting by the screen with the HUD and the driver by the screen with no HUD. With headsets it is now crusial that the race engineer provides the driver with information about fuel, tyres, laptimes, positions, damage and so on.
Now GT5 just turned in to a CO-OP game.
Tommorow we will have a 6 hours race on Spa, with this setup. We drive in arcade mode, so we have 16 cars on the track and full damage.
I will post race report and pictures.

I know it's been a while, but how was it ? :)
Must have been a blast !

''I will post race report and pictures.''
UNDONE ! ;p

I was wandering if I could do something like that for online events I run in.
Protector screen set without HUD, HUD and positions etc on a side display.
Maybe set in spectator mode to see check point times, but that mean taking one player slot on server/host. :(

One other thing I'dd like to try, center and right display... with two display, does the midle is in between screens or you can change the angle of view to fit your needs/hardware ?

Thanks for any help.

altid6: You should not post pictures like above... Now I need to find a way to get my 2nd car go down the basement stairs !!! ;)
