Gt5 Backup question - not about game save

So I got to wondering.. if the game itself (not the game save) decided to crap out, I'd have to re-install from disc & re-download all the patches (my disc is v1.00).. which, being on a limited bandwith connection, I'd really rather not do. So, my question is can I backup the GT5 installation data (maybe after each patch) so that in the event of HD failure/GT5 failure I can avoid re-downloading everything?

I made a back-up before I swapped hard drives, I know it was after I got GT5 but I don't remember if it was before or after the first update.

A backup of the GT5 game data "only" is not possible. :indiff:

You can do a full backup of your PS3's HDD. But I really don't have a clue if the backup includes the game data, pictures, created tracks & thumbnails of your cars. :sly:

Note: there are some limitations about what you can restore & where (f.e. new HDD).

Here's a guide: PlayStation®3 User's Guide: Backup Utility

This ^^^ Do a full backup to external Hdd via the XMB screen and it will copy everything including data and game save.
If your Internall Hdd blows up then replace it, with a new one, go to psn website download a small patch to a thumb drive to format neww Internall Hdd then restore the main backup from externall Hdd. I had to do this when I replaced my Hdd with a larger one.

I was kind of curious about this too. I have a spare 16gb memory stick that I could use for it. I recently re-installed GT5 and it took over 3 hours to get to get the game up and running again. I also have a 1.00 disc.
