Edit: There's always a backup savefile on your PS3, since the last updates of Gran Turismo, so that's not to worry about. Last edited: Jul 9, 2012

This is sometimes caused by a poor/throttled internet connection. Try disconnecting from the PSN and see if that fixes the problem.
