Ok, perhaps it wasn't GT5, but I was in the middle of racing the second lvl 17 karting special event. And the steering wheel just lost it's motor, and I couldn't steer! All the lights illuminated and gave absolutely no feedback. Ok...stay calm! I exited the race, thinking I'm smarter than the wheel, I'll restart my PS3! Where normally the wheel calibrates itself, it only struggled. Upon start up, same ish...tried but only attempted to calibrate...nothing. Started a quick race, thinking, this can't be happening....absolutely no control with the steering wheel, my G27 is officially broken.

In my sick mind, this is the upside...so I shared a nice, helpful conversation with what sounded to be a super qt in the Phillipines who was good 'ol Logitech support team member. Anyway, still under warranty sir. Ok cool! We will email you a UPS label sir...Ok cool! Oh wait, the label people are not available, so it will be sent to you within 24 hrs...uh...ok cool? Jeeez zus. Oh and with the label sir will be a satisfaction survey...oh now your mocking me Logitech! Ok ok, stay calm! I would be irrate if this wasn't covered under warranty. But with my enjoyment of GT5 and my participation in the drivers competition beginning Dec 20, well, to say the least this blows! I'm the king of pain peeps. So I guess I'm going to have to use the old driving force gt wheel in the meantime.

All in all, lets raise our glasses to technology!!! Peace.

ouch. sorry to hear. I've been reading that alot of wheels are breaking when playing this game. Maybe we should cut down just a tiny bit? ... psh no way!

Well... maybe its time to start using B-spec bob? just farm some money for now so when you get your g27 back, you can try out all your new cars.

Bad luck, man. Good that you've got a back-up, but it probably feels like a huge step backwards! :p

The shifter on my G25 is definitely beginning to utter the first grumblings of a complaint. It has been fairly intensively used recently. I'll have to do the rigidity mod, now that it's well out of warranty...

Maybe I should focus on my driver stable for a bit, too.

Hey thanks fellas, yeah I couldn't believe it! At least they will be giving me a replacement, but yeah step down to the old wheel for now. Heck, I'll probably just run b-spec now, like you suggested. Just when I had dumped a bigger turbo in the Cusco suby....arrggg, yep the king of pain!! Anyway, thanks for the time.

damn that sucks, you dont happen to play the rally much? i notice the wheel making some strange grinding.. will be staying clear of that for the moment.

Same thing happened to my DFGT during the slalom test. Just went limp. Unfortuantely I don't have a spare wheel like you :(. It was 11 days old too...

dude you may not get it back before dec 20

most service agents in aust close a week before xmas, dont know about the US but odds are slim

in australia we can get a replacement issued, just go back to place of purchase(or at least that is the case where i work which is a superstore)

Hey Guys...

Same Problem here... in Arcade Mode - Rally - my G27 stop working on Steering only... Buttons and shifter works perfectly...
just replace the AC-adapter... just do it - and the wheel works fine already!!!

i think that GT5 works very strong on the FFB so the AC-Adapter (which is very low tuned) is undertuned... change it and you're happy again!!! ;o)

maybe one like that...:

http://www.conrad.de/ce/de/product/510263/Dehner-SYS1183-6524-Netzt-fests-24V65W/2110212

must be available in other countries too...

You're getting a replacement sent in 24h? thats amazing. My G27 wheel broke in october (it was 2 months old) i sent it back and then was told they had none in stock for a replacement, so then i had to wait, and wait some more. Then they told me none would be coming back in stock and i could use my credit to buy something else. I had to make a point that this was no use to me, get my money back... which took another further email as they "forgot" to refund me the first time. Then i had to order another G27 from a different company at a fairly higher cost (+£40) and wait a week for that.

In GT5 i try to avoid using my wheel too much during rallying over gravel/dirt and i only have my FFB set to 2/10 as it is way too strong. Controller works decent for rallying, and rallying on the snow is light on the wheel.

My G25 is starting to make a noise when I slightely turn right ,looks like I have to decrease the Feedback strength

New g27, lucky you. Anyway, I don't mean to be d***, but do you think that it became unplugged when you steered too hard?

So Logitech told you the G27 is now discontinued? That's some considerable news...

haha that isn't being a d*** man, no it didn't come unplugged, I had checked the AC adapter. And, anyway, when the wheel fubared all the lights illimunated. So there was power, when I was speaking to the Logitech support member we went through the AC adapter plugs to ensure that everything was secure. I had my FFB set to 5/10. But the wheel should be able to handle the use, the only upside is getting a new wheel. I may try the upgrade to the ac adapter, but I'm not certain.

They aren't going to send me a new wheel in 24hrs, they said they'd send me the UPS shipping instructions within 24 hours. I did receive them this morning, so I hope to ship it out to Arizona today. I'm in California, so I don't anticipate this taking months...if it does, then they blow!

The Logitech rep told me that they had G27's in stock, and that once they received my defective wheel that they would send me a new wheel. A buddy of mine said that they will probably send me a refurb...as long as it works I'll be happy. Still blows!

My G25 died a few days ago when I wanted to use it for GT5. Sadly its already out of warranty, but thankfully its just the power adapter that needs replacing (the steering, pedal and shifter were all ok). Could just be the power adapter though, but it does suck if GT5 can't detect the wheel without power... (unlike GT4) :guilty:

My g27 broke on the first day of GT5 (Was under 2 weeks old.) Some calibrating problems caused by lots of vibrating (FFB?). Doubt it was Gt5's fault. In rally the FFB is wayyyy too strong even though I have FFB set to 1. I would turn it completely off, but I cant. -.- Ofc I can take the power cord off, but then the wheel doesnt have any resistance. 👎

Talked to a logitech rep last week and supposidely they are not disco. I have an order in since the game came out and was told they are expecting a shipment 12/9.

Let me clarify, my G27 was 2months old, in the first year warrenties are dealt with by the company that you purchase them from, i purchased mine from Ebuyer, and they were not planning on getting any more G27 wheels in stock, so had to refund my money as part of the warrenty.

This is scary news... everytime I was doing the rally licence test(s) the wheel would seem to struggle and become violent!

I grip the wheel firm but turn gentle and yet it still make odd grind sounds?

On test IB-3 for the life of me I cannot get gold because the wheel seems to jerk on that test??

BTW, what you people think is it safe to use Logitech GT with force feedback set to 10 ? Does wheel breaks faster when FF is set to max ?

Just bad luck I guess. My G25 has been going strong for four years now (bought it just after the original release back in late 2006 if I recall correctly) - although there have admittedly been some months long breaks now and then where I haven't used it, and I also use the paddle shifters 95% of the time, so there hasn't been much wear on the stick shifter.

I have a G25 an I use to play the crap out of it on PC sims, it still works to this day, but now its collecting dust in the closet. For GT5 I got GT3 RS V2 with Clubsport and works fine. Im LVL 19, whenever I have time to play I play for lots of hours at a time, so wheel gets used up a lot. I use full FFB settings. No aids and what not, so far no problems. It has a fan inside, maybe that helps it to keep it cool? I dont remember G25 having a fan, maybe motors overheat?

Yeah just bad luck for you.

I recon it's simply the FFB strenght in GT that's breaking wheels, look what just 2 days of playing GT5 with FFB set to 10 did to my hand haha!!

Well it's better than the carpal tunnel syndrome I got playing GT4 with a pad.

Mechanics Gloves. Get a pair.

Well i just returned a Logitech DFGT to the store to get a new one, had the first DFGT for about 2 weeks. The problem was that the force feedback had become really noisy, it still worked, but it felt like something was loose in there when it kicked in.

Really hope i won't have any problems with this new set of DFGT.

Hmmm, maybe I should put the force feedback down to the medium. I have it at full right now and I'm not sure of the risk to my G25 any more.

Hey.I had the same problem last night,But i solved it..
In my case it was the power cable. The one that comes from the wall to the power brick. It wasn't connected properly so the ff wasn't working, only the pedals and the shifter.
Try it out and tell us....
