Well i just returned a Logitech DFGT to the store to get a new one, had the first DFGT for about 2 weeks. The problem was that the force feedback had become really noisy, it still worked, but it felt like something was loose in there when it kicked in.

Really hope i won't have any problems with this new set of DFGT.

I just purchsed my DFGT a few days ago. Been using it for 2 days now and the wheel has got unbearable to use. The cogs inside are slipping badly and giving of a snapping sound, thats not even going over kurbs or turning tight corners. Taking it back as soon as I can, none in stock so looks like I will have to get 1 of the net. Such a pain, had been enjoying it compared to the controller.

My first DFGT started making this rattling noise a couple years back. I emailed Logitech to ask about the noise, if it was anything I should be worried about...they asked for my address.

In under a week a new DFGT arrived at my house, they never asked about sending the other back and all that was wrong was the noise.

If anyone else is experiencing that noise...it happened to me after I accidentally slammed it hard into lock. Thought it was centered but it was a full turn around to the right >_>

Everyone is saying that force feedback is way too strong. Inane it set to 10/10 on my DFGT and it is almost non existent. I have noticed that my wheel sounds like it's limping on the startup calibration.

What happened? It used to be more than strong enough on prologue..

I told you a few weeks ago, that the FFB at least on rally is to strong on the G25 (G27). I don't like how violent it is, even toned down to 1. I wondered how long it would take till the first wheels give up.

Mine does make some pretty awful grinding noises in rally. I figure that I've gotten my money's worth out of it now though, so I'm going full FFB all the way, I'll see what happens :)

I think I'll turn down the FFB when racing on dirt and snow; quite violent feedback for my G25.

💡 A FFB design to increase sales of new thrustmaster? :sly:

I'll try to fiddle with the ac adaptor later today, but when I spoke to the tech, she had requested that I unplug it and replug it in. It the wheel was still hosed. I'll fiddle with it today and update you guys...although even if it fixes it, part of me is thinking of just getting a new one from Logitech, just to get a new one.

When you say "grinding noise" is that something you have when you are just turning the wheel? Or do you mean when the force feedback kicks inn when you hit stuff and so forth?

My first G25 wheel ran very hot and burning smell came out from the motor after I did some hard driving (in GT5p). Then it failed. With GT5, and my second G25, after hard driving I often put my hand on the motor case to see if it's getting too hot. If it's too hot I give it a break, let it cool down before resuming. I think Logitech should have installed a cooling fan in the G27 among the other improvements.

One more thing, I think turning power steering on in the options menu should help a little, as it reduces resistance during sudden/strong movements.

Hey Guys...

Same Problem here... in Arcade Mode - Rally - my G27 stop working on Steering only... Buttons and shifter works perfectly...
just replace the AC-adapter... just do it - and the wheel works fine already!!!

i think that GT5 works very strong on the FFB so the AC-Adapter (which is very low tuned) is undertuned... change it and you're happy again!!! ;o)

maybe one like that...:

must be available in other countries too...

i was having the same issue and was because the a/c adapter wasnt connected properly, please make sure is properly plugged

haha that isn't being a d*** man, no it didn't come unplugged, I had checked the AC adapter. And, anyway, when the wheel fubared all the lights illimunated. So there was power, when I was speaking to the Logitech support member we went through the AC adapter plugs to ensure that everything was secure. I had my FFB set to 5/10. But the wheel should be able to handle the use, the only upside is getting a new wheel. I may try the upgrade to the ac adapter, but I'm not certain.

They aren't going to send me a new wheel in 24hrs, they said they'd send me the UPS shipping instructions within 24 hours. I did receive them this morning, so I hope to ship it out to Arizona today. I'm in California, so I don't anticipate this taking months...if it does, then they blow!

my wheel wasnt working and i have lights. it was the adapter not sending enough juice

I guess I'm lucky. I have smacked my G27, abused it, etc. to it and it hasn't even skipped a beat. It's just as silent as day 1. I guess you guys are gettin real unlucky :sly:

My G27 is losing calibration if i jerk the wheel, especially to the left, and it gets progressively worse throughout the race. i used to be able to unplug/plug back in but it now calibrates itself off center as well, anyone else having this problem? i researched it and it seems to be a hardware problem....really don't want to wait for a new one if i send it in

i looked on logitech's forums and i guess this problem affects a lot of g27s. it sounds like the only two options for dealing with the calibration problems is to either void the warranty and fix it yourself or send it in and wait for a new one. you would think that for $300 they would build the product properly.

Makes me wonder if their switch to Helical Gears in the G27 over the G25's straight ones may not have been the best idea?

I know for my G25 at least it has started to make some odd whines and moans since I started playing GT5(not too mention the hundreds of hours it has seen in other games)

I pulled it apart a few days ago and made sure everything was tight, that the long term grease I put in there when I got it was still good, sprayed the motors with some Castrol multi-purpose lubricant I use on my bike and just keep my fingers crossed it stays with me.

On the upside I killed my first G25 in a freak PC accident so I do have plenty of spare parts :dopey:

I used a G25 for 2 years, and a G27 for the last 5 months and have had, almost, no issues. The only problem I had was during the TT demo and about a month afterwards. It would get crooked, but it stopped about a month after the TT was over.

I gave my G25 to my friend as an early x-mas present to play GT5 on. Although, it did have some cut wires from the kids mashing the wires in the pedals. It still works great for him and his 3 year old daughter.

In regards to rally, I thought it was supposed to make noise just like when you hit curbs. The G27 is silent compared to the G25 except when rallying or curb hopping, and in those instances they sound very similar.

Logitech for the win :D (says the Logitech fanboy)

i just talked to support, many of the earlier g27 models have a loose cog or optical wheel inside that comes loose, causing the calibration problem. mine is only two months old but im guessing it was an older model that was lying around since i bought it from a supplier on amazon. customer service was great, im just ticked that i have to wait a few weeks for a new one due to low supply. it better arrive before i have to go back to college.

in regards to gt5 breaking g27s, although mine started acting up after playing gt5, i doubt this was the cause as the problem is a loose part. the FFB in gt5 is also noticeably weaker than in pc sims i have played such as rfactor or richard burns rally so i dont think it is killing wheels. mine makes slight grinding noises too offroad; im pretty sure its supposed to do that to simulate gravel
