Hey guys, I'm back and university and dont have my 50" plasma with me. I reset the video output of the PS3 but Gt5 doesnt run in full screen on my small standard aspect ration TV (4:3).

Is there a setting I'm missing?

Thanks in advance!

On my plasma, the game menus & the game runs full screen.
On my standard TV, the game menu's arent full screen, but the game is.

I'm pretty sure GT5 doesn't have an aspect ratio setting like GT4 did. Last time I used a PS3 on a CRT it defaulted to 4:3 and GT5 would only play in letterbox format. You options are to either put up with it or change the PS3 display settings to 16:9 and put up with a stretched picture on your 4:3 ratio TV.

Yea I know you can adjust the size but it only makes it wider while only marginally making it taller if you understand what I'm trying to say. I'll keep messing around in the gt menus.

Yep, that's it. No other way about it GTP_Clockwork.

Zoom during menu's is R1, is it not? Not L1.

The settings are changed in the PS3 setup menu, not in the game. Go back to the PS3 menu, it is in the settings under DISPLAY, not VIDEO.

I'm not buying a ridiculously expensive LED TV to replace my perfectly fine CRT, thanks. If I want to watch HD movies, my PC will do.

Letterbox is annoying, but there's an easy cure.

Sit closer to the screen.

Agreed ^
I have a 12 inch panasonic with built in vcr :D It sits on a box that touches the back of my steering wheel. Unfortunately even after adjusting the screen size it doesnt get small enough to show me the whole width.

And here I was feeling sorry for myself for playing on a 32". Could be worse. I finished GT4 on a Korean 14" that would fritz out halfway through enduros.

I understand where you're coming from, but a new HD LCD isn't exactly "ridiculously expensive" these days, at least in my part of the world. You can pick up a 32" 720p LCD for less than the cost of a 160GB PS3 system here in Seattle. Sure it's not the highest-end TV in the world, but it's still a big improvement over an old 480i CRT, especially when you're sitting close to it.

(I understand that "less than a 160GB PS3" still isn't "cheap", but my point is only that it's not "ridiculously expensive" by any stretch.)

A 32" LCD isn't ridiculously expensive, but there's not really any reason to trade up a 32" CRT for a regular 32" LCD except for a little extra resolution. Stuff that you won't really notice when seated on a couch ten feet away.

I'm waiting for prices to come down on 40" LEDs (not LCDs) if I do decide to go that route. Because when I finally join the 21st Century, I want a TV with good performance and longevity.

By the way, in my "part of the world", a good TV is worth an entire month's salary... so it is kind of ridiculously expensive, at least for me. I earn less than $1,000 a month... and I'm middle management. After I factor in what I pay for gas, electricity, phone bills, groceries and taxes, my disposable per month comes out to maybe $100.

Good thing that my salary isn't my only income stream. :D

Yeah, we're Bohemian... but we were rocking GSM/3G long before America caught up... so neener neener...
