Hi people,

Im having a nightmare with this series. I have a full modified 66 Cobra and a fully modified 62 Buick and neither of them are any good for these races. I have a feeling that its my driving ability as well as the lack of fine tuning ive done to the cars to make them drivable and capable of winning this race.

What cars did everyone use? I hear people have used the Countach, but I didnt win that I won the Cobra 66.

Can anyone help me out? Either that or lend or trade a car that will work in this race? I got a code for the Jag XJ13 but it doesnt have a year next to it and it wont allow me to use it for this race.

Cheers,

Glassy

Quite a few people had good results with a fully tuned and RM'd Camaro Z28.

I've not tried it myself yet, I expect I will do the same, although I don't want to race modify my current Z28 so I'll need another :)

Yep I won that series with the RM Z28 as well. Since I am not very good I needed to use all the power mod and soft slicks to beat the 2J around Monaco(just, .2 sec at the line, held the lead since lap one and basically driving inch perfect for the rest with the mirror...). Deep Forest was not as bad, would've won over the Toyota 7 by maybe 5-8 sec if weren't for one mistake.

You win the Countach from the Lamborghini exclusive if i remember correctly. So if you do that in whatever Lambo you have, or buy a cheap one and a set of soft sports will do.

You need to fully tune the Countach to do it though, quite easy to force through on the first corner for both races, and set your gearing to 162mph, you will redline on the straight just before the crest of the hill but the lower gearing really helps your acceleration so its fairly easy to hold your lead, a tiny bit of blocking may be needed on the straight at the end of the first lap but thats it really.

We used the Countach. Fully upgraded to maximum horsepower with super slicks on.

The trick is to get into first place within the first 3 corners and hold the lead. If you're not in 1st place by then, restart and try again. Once you have the lead, you should be able to get some distance between you and 2nd place as they tend to slow down more than necessary on corners and not really attempt to overtake on the straights either.

Excellent, so you can buy the Z28 then?

I drive all my cars on automatic with a normal controller and im struggling to get past level 17. If I get the hang of manual on the controller is it going to make my times on the licenses a lot better?

I stupidly sold the lambo so I dont have it. Very frustrating. Tempted to start from scratch as ive wasted loads of money on cars that just arent good enough to win the races I need them for.

You can use mine if you send it back when youre done.

EDIT: Dont worry about the wasted cash, it comes in thick and fast once you get to level 20.

M40_Sniper

That would be superb if you dont mind? My psn is Glassatov

Do you want me to send you my fav car as a gaurantee? ; ) Its a Lambo Diablo. Its average, but its a thing of beauty.

My PSN is M40_Sniper, ill be logging on in about 2 minutes, dont worry about sending your car just keep the Countach as long as you need. If you practise getting them on the first corner on Deep Forest it isnt too bad to hold the lead, theres a video of it somewhere ill have a quick look for that for you then go log on.

i did it with a Ferrari 330 P4, tuned up another 100 hp with racing slicks, took me a couple of tyres but my tip is to get round the first corner on both of the track in front of everyone and then keep the lead and you probably come first, but if the chapparal or one of the other get in front you have no chance of catching them! :)

Ill give it a good bash with the Lambo Sniper is lending me tonight. I'm clearly not great at the game so it might take me a while.

Do you all use a normal controller on automatic or are you using a manual gearbox?

I find manual to be quicker as I can control the rpms so I can get a better speed out of corners.
The button configuration I like is the R2 to accelerate, L2 to brake, square to shift down, circle to shift up, triangle to reverse and X to handbrake.

Hahaha, damnit. Was first for the whole race (deep forest) then span it at the very last corner and came 3rd. First attempt tho, should manage it.

Depends, if its an easymode race and im smoking ill just use automatic, if i struggle ill switch to Manual and generally cuts a sizable chunk off my times.

I use L2/R2 as brake/accelerate and L1/R1 for change down/up if you were wondering.

The car is set up to how i did DFR, if its not drop the transmission to 162 or 169, i used 162 i believe, if you do it right you should redline just as you come over the hill on the start/finish straight just before the braking point.

How many people here have done this with B-Spec? I've only done it on B. I can see it being easier on A-spec, since I see so many missed chances and unblocked passes by my driver, O. Dumas. I tried the following, all fully tuned: '66 Cobra, MKIV Race Car, Chapparal 2D, and 330 P4 Race car (I turned 43 several times last week), and found the 330 was getting the closest, so I kept at it with that one.

It took about five very close second or third place finishes on each track before getting first. It mostly came down to luck, both of the order of the lineup (you want the 2J and Toyota 7 behind you), and with how the laps went. I found myself and the 7 leapfrogging between second and first several times on Deep Forest, eventually I just had a go where I ended up in first on the last lap instead of him. There's also a spot on Cote, right before the finish line, where the corner is very sharp and the road very tight. If someone tries to pass on the inside there, they'll be stopped dead by that corner, and subsequently pile up everyone behind them. I got away with some lucky strikes there a few times.

I must say, this particular event made B-spec pretty exciting. As much stupid AI as I saw (excessively slow cornering, late on the throttle, allowed passes), I did finally witness some brilliant driving and well-executed opportunistic passes by him. He was between level 17 and 19 for this event (I was on it a while), and his skill was definitely showing its fangs. There were a couple times where he would rocket across some grass to pass in a corner, and gained a position on the very last corner of the race (that's how I won DF!). Cool stuff. Actually looking forward to more close B-spec races.

Crikey, did deep forest on the 8th attempt by.095 seconds! That was a slog.

I'm hoping the 2nd race is easier?!?!

Congratulations mate, and yeah Monaco is alot easier, you can get into 1st on the first corner as well. Cut the corner at Tabac if you brake too late, easier than trying to rescue it.

Well chuffed fella!

Any time pal, i know what a pain it is trying to do it in anything else. I managed to do it in the Cobra, just, by about 0.06. Its still a really fun race to do I think. Will be doing alot more of it, good practise.

I did it with the RM Z28 after reading this thread. Thanks to those who suggested it. :) It's quite a car.
