GT5 freezing during normal(offline) gameplay

Ok so after 2 and a half patches this problem seems to still persist. I found out why. Its the ability to put your own racing sound track. For some reason it'll work for the first couple of races but after awhile it still freezes! This is definitely a problem and im hella surprised PD hasnt noticed... after 2 freaking patches! Is there anyway I can get some support on this topic and hopefully get this thread noticed by PD? Thanks.

Also if anyone else is having this problem, PLEASE PLEASE contribute. This is driving me nuts and I hope im not the only one.

Ever since this stupid PSN outage happened Ive had trouble playing without the game freezing, only during races (A spec or B spec) and its fcking annoying! Anyone else having this happen to them?

I've had it happen during loading screens a few times, generally i find a good disc clean cures the issue :)

Im just gonna sleep on it, too much stress cause of finals to deal with this crap. :grumpy:

I've never had it happen during game play, only during load screens between the GT5 main menu into GT Life.

Took a microfiber cloth to it, hopefully it does the trick. If not i'll try disconnecting the e cable.

Sounds like a hardware issue. Make sure the disc is clean, clear the dust from your PS3, and if it still persists you might want to have you BD drive looked at.
 
But it only happens with GT5! I dont get it! Bioshock, AC Brotherhood, LBP2 all work flawlessly! Its really aggravating since GT5 is my favorite game ATM... just gonna give it a rest until this whole outage blows over.
 
Ok now im really scared. Its freezing not even half way into a REPLAY. As long as Im not racing or watching videos of racing it wont freeze (Tuning/Dealer/etc) but as soon as I go into practice or even replaying a video it freezes not even a 1/4 in. Is ANYONE having this issue. And yes i just cleaned the disk (again) and the PS3 is in a well vented area with a fan to it. Wth? :'(
 
I don't think this is a widespread issue. You should probably take your PS3 in for repairs. It sounds like there's something wrong with it. It's not a GT5 issue.
 
Yeah I've never heard of such. Very weird its not happening with other games but if your playing GT5 more than your others it is possible your PS3 is only heating up to this point with GT5 and not the other games and that's why your only experiencing problems with it?
 
Did you install to your hard drive, or are you just running the game from purely from the disk?

If you have installed to your hard drive try uninstalling the GT5 files and just running the game from the disk. The loading times will be slightly longer but the game seems to run a lot smoother.

Or, if you want to run from your hard drive, just go for an uninstall/reinstall of the game files. It could just be a bit of corruption somewhere.

This sounds good. Im going to try this in the morning. I didnt do it b4 because I was afraid it would erase my saved files. But in all honesty Ive put the game away since PSN went down and cant seem to play it till we go back live. Thanks everyone for your advice.
 
I was having this but it would only freeze during practice, and when u loaded a ghost lap to race against. (every time the ghost would finish the lap it would freeze)

I deleted a few unneeded replays then it was fine again.

^^THIS!!! Where did you get the idea that this would help?

I tried playing it after uninstalling the files and still freezes during practice. Now im installing them again in addition to deleting some replays.

Have you tried "Clear System Cache"? Quite a few people don't even know about that.
 
mine always freezes on the last lap of NUR on the DCC races... so i can NEVER complete them

Did you delete your install and re install? I just had a slimilar problem and I nearly ..... myself because after I finally turned my PS3 off to rest (after being on for about 2 weeks solid) it kept locking up.

Everytime I went to standard cars and scrolled down the list, the music went off and froze with 'installing' at the bottom left.

No buttons did anything so I had to pull the lead out of the console, I booted it up again and all seemed normal but as soon as I went into standard cars again and scrolled down it happend again. :scared:

So all I could do was removed the disc and give it a wipe, thankfuly the problem has gone now, phew.

I'm at level 39/37 AND I've yet to back up my save game and I would have been destroyed if I'd lost all that hard work. :nervous:

First thing tomorow morning I'm going out to buy a USB stick.

No this has never happened to me. Im 25/21 but after deleting installed files and re-installing them it has seemed to fix the problem.

It would usually freeze after mid lap of any sort of racing, including replays. Now its running fine but yea, I nearly shat myself too.

I might have to consider buying a USB for the first time as well.

It really is a horrible feeling, I have to say as much as I love GT5 I could not really see myself starting again from dead zero.

I really feel for you guys you have lost all data....
