GT5 hangs with XMB

Okay, this has to stop.
Whenever I press the PS button when I leave a race the game locks in the loading process...

Not once, not twice, but EVERY TIME!

I just completed a 9h race and was checking if someone had posted a PM to me while I was exiting the race.
See and behold, it locks on the loading process to GT Home AGAIN...

Anyone else had this problem before?
And if you wanna see if your game is as faulty as mine I'd suggest you backup your save before you do it because so I've had luck because my game hasn't been corru...
Let's not say more because that little crap game will probably do so if I say it.

If only PD had people reading this forum so they'd get actual feedback on their not so perfect product.

EDIT: 9 hours wasted... Ha ha ha...
If swearing was allowed on this forum it'd go down due to overload of rage right now...

Are you sure the problem isn't related to your PS3? I've never come across this bug before. (Playing since the game was released)

Have you got a lot of friends on your PSN? I think it may be the XMB trying to load those and GT5 at the same time.
That said, other games only lag a bit when that happens, not hang and freeze completely.

It's most likely this.

Op, you should wait until the game has finished loading and doing it's various autosaves before you go to the XMB. The PS3 doesn't have enough processing power to load substantial memory heavy games and the XMB at the same time.

Don't press it whilst leaving a race!

Simplez! Sorted! Done!

11 more post for your 1000th!👍

Great advice for everyone. Good job. 👍

happens to me on a daily basis. I'm loading an online lobby, get a PSN message, press the home button to check it and bam...no online lobby...infinite loading bar.

It makes me less happy that more have this problem because then I know it's a faulty error in the game.
Very angry man uses forum site as a way to release anger.
High standards man uses GTP because the rest of the Internet doesn't know anything about games.

As was stated earlier, I don't think it's a problem with the game so much as it is the system. You are trying to load miltiple things at once and unfortunately the ps3 doesn't possess the processing power to do that. When I do it my game either slows down dramatically or closes the xmb bar. I've learned to deal with it and avoid trying to access the xmb bar while the game is loading. You have a means by which to remedy the situation but you choose not to do so. That is your problem. How many times did you burn yourself as a kid before you learned to not touch hot surfaces?

Don't mean to scare you, but when my PS3 started doing this, a corrupted HDD followed, a couple of days later. Lost everything. So,

BACK UP YOUR HDD CONTENTS!

Just in case.

EDIT: "The PS3 doesn't have enough processing power..." LOLOL. Please. :grumpy:

This is not the issue. At least not in the aspect of it freezing due to not being able to handle memory and the XMB at the same time, it has plenty of processing power to handle that in normal conditions. More than likely you have a hardware issue of sorts... probably HDD is needing attention.

MGS4, MGSHD, Soul Calibur doesn't do this, only GT5.
That's why I post it here, duh.

What mine does is if i start loading out of a race, and i hit the PSbutton to check for messages. whether im in a chat, typing in a message, whatever, my XMB goes away, and i get the little red circle with a slash through it in the corner(like the no smoking allowed here circles). then it continues to load. in conclusion, what PS3 do you have? i have the 120GB Slim, it may make the difference in processing and it may not, idk.

Having your game completely freeze up while you are accessing the XMB bar is not something that should be happening... it is a symptom of something else having issues. Maybe HDD needs reformat, maybe HDD is about done for, maybe corrupt data, varying models have different issues with XMB etc. GT5 never crashes for me, ive encountered a few seconds of lag when switching in and out of XMB or menus a couple of times but thats it.

just keep on pressing the ps button and it loads for some reason and turn off all wireless things except the controller and hdd space is not actually a problem because on my 260gb slim i have 236gb left and it tends to happen sometimes but yours maybe corrupted so save to a memory stick if it is corrupted you will be ready for but your pics and vids will be gone
:(
