GT5 Intro by GTPlanet - Calling all members!

If you have any combination of the following you can help:

-GT5 (PS3+TV duh!)
-PC/Mac with video editing software (knowing how to use it helps)
-An HD capture card (this is the most needed)
-Any decent quality HD video camera (not an iphone. Handy cam type)
--A nice car, access to local race track, or a great road
-A fast internet connection (not required)

GT5's US intro, in my opinion is less than stellar. I have seen what some of the Forza guys have done, and in my opinion, I know GTP can do better. I have some grandiose plans for an epic GTPlanet made intro movie for GT5. How epic? Hopefully, 1 million hits+ on Youtube epic. It would not only be a "GT5 intro" but almost a tribute to motor racing. :dopey:

I cannot do this alone. I had planned this idea for myself before GT5's release but the lack of a Youtube export feature has complicated things a bit. So I am calling for all members, but, especially those with HD capture cards to sign up in this thread to take part in making a new GTP made intro for GT5.

Based on the response I will lay out further actions and details in this post in this post. If an insufficient response is given then I will scrap the project.

So please leave the following in your response:
-If you are interested
-If so, how much you are willing to participate.
-What you have, in regards to the list above.

I have a life to live to. As a result I am not asking for a ton of your time. Just spirts. This project can take as long or as short as we want.

Sorry, I've got #1 and #2, but no HD recording stuff and I drive a crappy car. Good luck with it, though.

I'd be interested in doing some video editing work but I'm quite predisposed trying to graduate from uni (and also have a Quake 3 movie project going that isn't getting enough attention as is). I'll keep an eye out on this project though, and will let you know if I think there's any way I can help out. It's something I've been wanting to do since long before GT5's release, never did get around to getting a capture card though.
 
You're going to be quite disappointed if you're counting on GTP to supply the cars. There's a very small group of people with 'decent' cars that have a lot of spare time, and a passion for a video game intro that the entire world is going to skip.
 
I can't really help out, but I can send people some replays for people with capture cards to get some decent footage.
 
How about a link to the video you mentioned about Forza or whatever? It'd help to know exactly what we're trying to accomplish. :)
 
I know the perfect music, let me find it and post it in a while. Seriously epic.
 
i can perform editting / effects.
also have a Canon 7d DSLR with full hd 24/30fps and 720 24/30/60fps (can do some nice slow mo stuff)
as for my real life automobile - it's not in gt5 but i love my car: Saab 93 Aero 2007 :) (V6 Turbo baby)
We have some drag strips not far from here, but closed for the winter - as soon as spring rolls around, i can grab my dslr and take some nice vids of cars dragging that appear in GT5
 
This is interesting... but I have no video skills what so ever.... not the best driver either. I can't drift my car (can't really do it in GT5 either @@) for example...

got a 135i and a 7D. Don't know if that qualifies for anything.
 
All i have is decent skills with After Effects and a 98 Camaro Z28 coupe :(
 
I have everything on the list with quite good editing software. I wouldn't mind doing it; just what exactly is it you would like us to do?
 
Allow me to be the first to rain on your parade and say it is a pointless exercise when we do not have an option to choose the opening movie within the game.







And no, they won't add in your clip because it -potentially- is a massive youtube hit.
 
I'm interested, but what exactly are we doing? Is this a game video or footage of real cars?
 
I have an 04 STi that im taking to El Mirage soon. Could maybe get some fun dirt footage for you. Thats all I got = /
 
I have a '68 Mustang with a nice roaring V8 sound. I don't have a racetrack nearby but I guess I could full-throttle it down the road with the nice vintage gas station sign you see in my avatar.

I guess starting it and revving the engine will also provide a nice soundbite.

I think we should have multiple songs for the intro, maybe not the full length, but only the important parts to fit with the scene. For example, night racing scene = techno, muscle car scene = metal. Of course, we have to make the transitions as smooth as possible.
 
Ok to go into a little more detail about my plans. First, they are completely open to suggestion. If you have some good ideas let me know. Second, it would be in a similar style to the current one. Live action footage then GT5 and maybe a mix. I am also targeting the same 15+ minute length.

Next, this is a LONG term project. It may not be done for a year. I have a life to. I am not asking for a lot of your time, just spirts. For example, once I have a group of people that are able and willing we would break things up into groups.

Group 1 would be the real life footage group. They would take their cameras and film their cars (or other cars) in various scenarios. Group 2 would be the GT5 playing and capture group. They would do certain things within GT5 and use a capture card to record them. Group 3 would be the video editing group. They would take all this footage and put it together. Once a group is done with its task it is done (of course they want to do more). They can submit as little or as much as they want.

Group 3 does not do group 1's work. I know this is a bit much, but I think it would be a cool project for the community to take up. There is no skin off of my back if it falls through, I just came up with the idea while bored at work... :)
 
I'm thrilled but I do not have: car, camera, capture card, editing program. But I am very very excited about the final result, which hopefully will arrive in some time, really thrilled.

I plan also something very big concerning GT-video-making, problem is: I have no capture card, nor hd camera, so crappy quality is the result but I KNOW that my project would hit GTPlanet and youtube like a bomb.

Sounds interesting enough, but I don't think my F-150 counts as a nice vehicle!:lol:
 
Ah I forgot: I also have a 1080p video camera so I can film both my own car and possibly others provided they're in the SF Bay Area.
 
hmmm.... i have a nice car... one that is mentioned in the game while not appearing in the game. tbh considering the performance and rarity of these i'm surprised they didn't include them....

It's a 2000 Firehawk. I've always wanted to take videos of it. I'd be happy to help if this project ever gets some serious legs. I live in NYC and could get city driving shots with the NYC skyline or shots at a dragstrip.... heck i've been meaning to get out to watkins glen so if that happens in the spring maybe i can shoot there as well.

Forgot to mention, I take my car to the local track once or twice a year to instructor led events. Total noob still tho.

No, the local track is not in GT5, unfortunately... It's Mission Raceway, a small road course, about an hour drive from Vancouver, Canada.
 
I like the intro. My two boys like it a lot, too.
The part we all know starts around 6'35.

:bowdown: My two year old's interpretation with two pencils on the couch was just as stellar though. We also have an antique piano that he tried his best on too, that was pretty awesome also.

I have those and a GoPro HD camera. I drive a Nissan Skyline R34 GT-T. I compete in Dutch Time Attack with it, so trackwork isn't really a problem. This is an example of a soaked trackday on semi slicks:

I'm also a video editting student so I know my way around Premiere Pro and After Effects. Also have a lot of professional experience in Illustrator and Photoshop.
 
I love this idea.
I don't have relevant equipment but have experience posting on Youku.com which is the Chinese/Asian equivalent of Youtube.
I also have sound recommendations for a soundtrack having worked on a few short student projects similar to this. (The Prodigy style techno is always good for race videos).
