I have been playing this game for 4 days and im at a-spec level 20 and i've determined that theres no way to beat the game. There is this classic race car event that i would to partake in BUT THE DAMN CARS TWENTY MILLION DOLLARS i mean does PD really think anyone can get twenty million dollars that would take months and by then most people would have lost interest in the game look i really like this game, but damn kaz twenty million dollars for cars that people need to do a race:scared::ouch::grumpy::yuck::indiff:

Do you really want to finish a game that cost $60 in just 4 days?

If you are looking to "beat" a Gran Turismo game at all, I repsectfully submit that you are playing the wrong franchise.

Yep 98.986% is the closest you can get to beating the game. :gtpflag:

4 days... This game is meant to be enjoyed slowly and played for a long long time, not to be beaten and over when it says 100%. I'm not flaming you at all. I just hope you get to slow down and enjoy the game, make your own goals, and don't worry about the trophies and such. Trust me you'll appreciate it more in that aspect.

Sounds you want to be the guy that says "yeah GT5.... pshh I beat it in 5 days"

Not so simple sorry

You can beat it in a Countach.

On another note, every post ive made so far is on the subject of this exact race =(

Every thread I enter, someone brings the subject up. hNNGH.

ive beat that race already, theres a classic race car event where in order to compete in it you need a classic race car which is $20,000,000, and i dont just wana beat the game no i want the x1 prototype

This. Here lies the problem with gamers today. People have been spoiled with games like COD that allow you to level up like crazy. Compare that to 6 years ago with BF2. It took you ages and ages to level up, nothing came easy. You could play it for 2 or 3 years and not max out your rank. GT5 is a throwback to that sort of long term commitment gaming. ADD teens who grew up on COD just don't have the attention span that it takes.

I was in the movie rental store the other day and saw all the copies of GT5 had been checked out. The first thing I though was "it's crazy having a game like this in a rental store". Why? Well beside the obvious 10gb monster install it takes to make the game playable, people are never going to get far enough in the 3 days they have the game to make it worthwhile. They are just going to get pissed at having to drive crappy Asian econo-turds around all day.

You don't need a classic race car, you can beat it with the Countach. Also, you don't need one of the $20,000,000 cars, you can buy a used Chapparal 2J or Toyota 7 from the used car dealership for much less, both of which are much quicker than the XJ13 or P4 330.

OP has never played GT before, fact.

GT has always been about wheeling and dealing, beating faster cars with 'slower' cars, thats why it rocks

I'll refer you to the Acceptable Use Policy that you agreed to:

GTP's policy
You will not use “textspeak” (“r”, “u”, “plz”, etc.) in your messages. Decent grammar is expected at all times, including proper usage of capital letters.

Thanks.

the car prices are all over the place

the 2010 camaro ss is 35k. which is about right. but the zr1 is 184k? the car retails for 108k

Well when you come out with a new version of the game every single year, it can't take too long to beat it.

Respectfully challenged. I think the problem is the mentality that there is one way to do things.

PD tried to please the majority, who like this slow progression. Now, that itself doesn't sound too bad, but there is a second part. They did it at the expense of satisfying everyone.

The most basic solution would be a difficulty setting for GT life.

BTW, I'd put GT5 on the same level as CoD. Leveling is terrible idea, especially when it interferes with online play. The first thing I did when I saw CoD's online system was exactly what I did when I saw GT5's GT life. I wanted it to be like CoD3 (Absolutely nothing to unlock to get full online playability).

Do what I did and save that race until after the Indy 500.

^yea that zr-1 is crazy over priced and as far as attention span goes i started out playing gran turismo when i was nothing but a kid man so i know the game can get difficult or even frustrating at times but $20,000,000 for 1 car, i guess i'll have to get over it

We do have a crying and raging thread if you want to post your story on there. No reason to cry about how much cars cost, unless you don't understand the experience you get from playing Gran Turismo. No one in real life would sell you a '67 Ford Mark IV Race Car for 25,000 dollars. Either enjoy the game like the rest of us are, or maybe Gran Turismo isn't the right game for you.

You dont beat GT, you just enjoy it.

Otherwise you could always LFG raid xroads, l33t only epic gear ftw

No attack against you personally, but this is as bad GT life.

What is quoted makes absolutely no sense. No one in real life can do the Indy 500 500 times a day. And the game is a driving simulator, not a second life simulator.

Most importantly, voicing one's opinion on where the game needs to change is the ultimate in fan loyalty. GT is every bit as much for the "complainers" as it is for those who would accept anything stamped with the letters PD, and everyone in between.

I thought it was the opposite, that the majority likes something quick and satisfying. That's why he mentioned the "ADD teens" in COD, which we can conclude is the majority of the gamers today.

^ THIS!

Since i work in the stock market aswell, i know for a fact that there is no such thing as a 100% sure investment...but Gran Turismo is the perfect investment!

GT5P kept me going from the first day i bought it 2 1/2 years ago, until GT5 hit the market... and that was with 70+ cars and 5-6 tracks.

GT5 will last me at 5 years or until GT6 comes out!

Gran Turismo isnt a game... its a passion!

Chris

@Shigegaki, say man i wasn't expecting the car cost $25,000, i was expecting more like 5,000,000 or something and if you would read my first post you would see that i said "i like the game" or that in my 3rd post (above your post) i said "i started out playing gran turismo when i was nothing but a kid" i was 9 years old when i played gt2 and i loved it and still do so dont tell me "maybe Gran Turismo isn't the right game for you"

Well, I guess in my mind, majority defaults to the majority of GTP on this subject.

However, the greater majority apparently preferred CoD4's pointless leveling system in place of CoD3's wonderful and sensible system [yes, this is from my point of view], so I wouldn't say that the majority is in it just to get a quick 100%.

Either way, my main point is, there's no excuse for satisfy part of the population when you can satisfy everyone.

Wait? There is more to the game? I just beat the Championship and the credits came on. After that I turned it off and started holding my breath for GT6 just one week after it came out.
