If you don't have a genuine love for cars then this simulator may be misunderstood. Personally I love cars and everything about them. Old cars new cars it doesn't matter to me. I was out shopping one day at my local Sam's club and I noticed DFGT wheels on sale for 40 bucks. I couldn't believe it. I called every Sams club within reasonable driving distance (400 miles) and ended up buying 12 of them. I also have a couple G25 wheels as well. My point is just sitting down and driving does it for me. I don't see this as a game. It's a life style for me.

The physics are so perfect. Being able to fill up a garage with cars I will never be able to drive on tracks from all over the world does it for me. Is GT5 perfect. Depends on who you ask. It is for me. Gt is a evolving thing. Try to imagine the time and effort that has went into it so far. All the people who have dedicated their entire life to perfecting the GT experience. Some things will have to be left for another day. Kaz is a genius in my book. Not because he created GT. But because he even attempted to create the racing experience.

I love that he does not allow the GT community to dictate what GT will ultimately become. Our input is good but imagine if he tried to implement everything we wanted. GT would not be the same. Look at the intro for example........

Seems like PD gave you a fulfillment in the car department. Much of it still lacks for me, but the perspective of 'perfection' is different in all of us.

Yeah what I am looking for is very simple. Recreate the racing experience. The game aspect is not as important for me. I can wait for things like rims on standard cars. I don't care if I can't paint mickey mouse on my car. If online is not up to speed I can wait for that to be perfected.

Half of those wheels I found on sake I gave away. A few on the Sony GT forum. I wanted people who have never experienced a wheel to see the difference.

Kai....

I guess I need to get a wheel then... As for "fun gameplay" this game is acting more like the real menu/loading screen simulator than previous GTs :(

Still like it though :D

Couldn't have said it better myself....👍

This game does for me what the government has stopped us doing. Just driving. No queues, no speeding fines and we can drive whatever we want wherever we want however we want. I could spend years just on arcade mode just free running any track. I LOVE the course maker, yes the 'changing parameters' can limit the more artistic sides to people, but all I need to do is chuck in some numbers, pick a car (this may take a while) and drive the road. Simple. And now I'm happy.
BTW if anyone wishes to do some online free-run-only just add me (eatfrogs4tea) with the message saying free run or something :) The only things missing are custom online tracks, online free running mode and the beautiful Honda HSV 010-GT (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCqY-vAX4EA). Then it would be more than perfect :)
I just wish I could afford/ had room for a wheel :/

They do have online free running mode. After the update. Now only the race creater can start the race. So threre is bunch of server u can just drive around. There is open thread about this in the main forum

GT5 is a combination of Need for Speed (sans police), any rally game, and GT1-GT4. It is a true work of art and although I thought I'd be disappointed, it was worth the wait.

Thank god! Finally a thread not moaning about rims, standards, b-spec,...

I love GT5, love the physics, love the special events, love my standard cars (try to collect them all). Better having 1031 cars with P and S than 200 P. I care for the physics and not the fender flares being perfectly shaped. I don't get people moaning about the game. It was never aimed as a casual racer, or pimp my car contest!

There are little things that i miss (save the settings in garage, i want order per make) or getting the torque in NM. But those are just little things.

GT5 shows the way he game will go. Can't wait for gt6.

Kaz & PD, don't listen to the moaners, they don't get your concept!

And don't forget the Ps3 is old. You can not achieve graphics up to date pc specs with the ps3. But people (not me) don't want a PS4 so don't complain about the graphics. GT5 takes a hell lot out of the PS3

I just said that to a friend. It's not a game - its a lifestyle :)
To be able to drive the car you own in real life and do things with it you don't wanna do to it in real and try out other cars and see how they are. Awesome :)

Yeah,yeah,yeah for GT5.

I would not go to perfect, but the AMAR212 comment on the physics is right. Still think it can be improved on some parts of some tracks, but sometimes you feel they build a basis that really allows to do something really great, actually most of the time they did something great.

Not perfect, just a reason for me to buy GT6, still need to try out some others, but GT5 really delivered for me.

I wouldn't call it perfect, as there is always room for improvement. That said, its a damn good game, and imo the best on the market.

I love the fact that you felt what Kazunori and PD tried to capture, it is there, it is there to enjoy, it is there with a vision....

And it's beautifull, last night i busted myself from just sitting there, and smoking a sigarette while listening to gtauto's fine tunes... Perfect!!

Not trying to hijack...

I'll probably never end up getting one unless I find a cheap one. Already 100 in on the CE (and STILL waiting on the best buy DL cars wtf?!) and don't think I'll need to get one to beat the game (never had any problems w the other 4-1/2 games).

i agree, gt5 is incredible. when driving, it feels like i am actually in the car, racing against other people :dopey: im only level 18 and ive had so much fun with this game. i cant stop playing!! 💡 the physics are too good  even on a DS3 controller the game is great, i dont know about a wheel. parents dont see a $300 wheel as a good investment for a 15 yearold :grumpy:

I totally agree, you really do need a passion for cars (not racing, not speed, not computer games, not fancy graphics) to love GT5. Those other aspects help obviously, and no doubt make the game worth a purchase, but if you truly love cars then GT5 transcends into something different, something almost unexplainable.

I'm more than happy with it, but a livery editor would still be most welcome in my book. Not everyone with Forza painted mickey mouse and anime ;) I spent a good 30+ hours perfecting some lovingly crafted designs on my favourite cars and couldn't have been more proud with the outcome.

Hang on, you bought 12 DGFT'S.

Yes they were only 40 bucks each! I tried to buy everyone I could get my hands on. I have 5 left. I gave away a few on Sony's GT forum.

Kai......

I agree with everything you said. The editor not so much. If it happens then cool. But I would never spend time with it personally.

You are amazing. We have to share the track real soon!

Racing Type 2s on the Top Gear track is what sealed it for me: GT5 has the best physics available right now.

Is this sale price still valid? When did you get all of these for $40?
