Lately (last two days), ive been doing online multiplayer races as usual. When I click "Online Lobby" it loads slowly, or not at all, most of the time giving me an error code (282). What I'm really wondering is if this is happening to other people or just me.

Overall my whole game has been getting progressively slower. I have cleared cache and things like that.

I have a good Internet connection with a fast speed.

Clear your cache, its in the options under network. That helps with a lot of online issues as well as connectivity. I had the same 282 error code. What I did was do a system upgrade of the ps3 (even if your system is up to date). This fixes any problems in the system software (which I assume this error is a ps3 problem not a GT5).

Many people will advise to re connect router, hard wire your connection etc. To save you some time on fixing the error, try the system upgrade. As for the connection issues and lag, make sure you look for rooms that have at least 3 stars, at the very least. Also, look at the signal strength, the lower the bars, the slower the room will be. One last thing to look for is rooms that have a lot of mics in use, mics slow the room down quiet a bit.

From my personal experience, the whole PSN has been acting weird all weekend. I got a lot of PSN errors and disconnects. Might have something to do with it.

This appears to be happening more frequently when PD is working on something. When Photo Stream started, several people would lose tire sounds when playing online, myself included.

I'm willing to bet it's a by-product of GT Academy development, but until someone here gets a job with PD, we'll never actually know.

You can mitigate your liabilities.

1. Make sure you have a hardwired connection directly to your modem, and reset your modem before playing. Skip routers, go straight to the source.
2. Sync your clock and trophies. My theory is that it improves the "handshake" with PD servers, but for all I know it just pokes the demon inside the PS3. I don't really care, because it's been reported to work.
3. Clear your system cache. If you remote race a lot, play online, or do tons of Seasonal Events, it clogs up the tubes. Unclog your tubes, man.
4. If you've enabled, and are playing custom music soundtracks, stop. Disable custom music. It's been known to cause problems way back when, and to my knowledge was never officially addressed. Happy to be proven wrong here.
5. If possible, avoid using mics. There's a known glitch (pre-2.05, if I'm right) when there are too many wheels and mics in use. Count on others using wheels, and just disable mics.
6. Before you go online, save your progress. It doesn't hurt.

Well there is really nothing else I can add to this..
Follow those instuctions, and you'll be away to the races :sly: Pun intended

PD really need to sort this out. If the servers are not fixed, or more are not added by the time GT Academy comes out, then it's going to be even more of a nightmare.

I have done everything possible to optimize my connection (which is blisteringly quick, reliable and with very low ping times), but I experience several problems per night with GT5, and only GT5. Tonight especially, my game is slower than paint drying and having a right paddy trying to stay connected to a lobby.

I also wonder if that's why no one is online on my PSN, because they are fed up with the problems? Usually, I have anywhere between 15-35 GT5 friends online while playing, tonight I have just 2.

Please fix these issues PD, it's a bit tiresome after so long. And I'm sure having to then reset the game and/or console off so frequently is not good for it's life span.

I'll be on later for sure.

I do all the aforementioned, and I've been experienced problems. Likely why this Academy isn't through 5, but a download instead.

It'll get fixed, give it time.

It wasn't just GT related problems. Even the PSN Store was undergoing problems, and I got disconnected in other games too.

I never did any of the steps above, use an airport router, and I don't have problems in GT5 multiplayer, as long as I stick to rooms with good quality. Mostly it has to do with the P2P arrangement, I guess.

This is truly taking the piss now. I have not been able to enter a single room for hours. All I managed in that whole time was ONE race, ONE!!

It varies between being 10 seconds to 2 minutes before I get the message "Disconnected from lobby server". But the really stupid and frustrating thing is, if I don't get rid of the message, I can watch and listen to what everyone is doing through the transparent screen, and hear them chatter away on the mics, so I clearly have not lost the connection, it's just PD being incompetent.

I have done everything possible to fix things, all other games work perfectly and an internet connection test shows that my connection is as strong, fast and reliable as ever. I'm on freakin' fibre optic, what more do they want!? It may sound pathetic but it really started to get my blood pressure up having this constant problem, so I put the controller down and did something else before I threw my controller through my plasma TV.

FFS PD, sort it out. :banghead::banghead::banghead:

I experienced delays last night too. I cant put a finger on it but I almost feel its a PSN network issue. Anything that involved a flash to the server resulted in a major delay. (Entering into GT Mode, Seasonals, Lobby... ETC) I could not join any rooms nor see who was online. My cache might be cluttered again so ill try that and resync/update check.

Glad to find out that it's not only me with these kind of delays... Hope they fix whatever is wrong, and everything will run smoothly once again

I think PD netcode/servers are really bad.
It takes ages to connect, and everytime one or more racers get disconnected.
Just for comparison, going online in Burnout Paradise is ridiculous fast! With mics and all!
Yeah, there's more data traffic to keep the simulation engine smooth in GT5, but the initial handshake ou even the server browse should never take so long.
I love GT5, but is painfully slow todo anything online.

It's been bad since Photo Stream was released in Asia, and likely why it's delayed everywhere else.

Who knows.

I seldom have lag online on GT5 - usually when we have more than 10 drivers in a room from different far away countries, but i do have intermittent problems these few days - random rejection, and blank screen at race start. On another note, Metal Gear Online also having isssues, network server errors since yesterday, and PSN logging in took a while sometimes. I have wired connection from PS3 to my laptop which directly connected to a modem.

Also yesterday, I had multiple random sign out error from PSN, while I was playing online - GT5, Battlefield and Metal Gear Online. Then the random sign out occurred again today after more than 6 hours being signed in. All this while my internet works fine on my other computers ... weird.

Did all the usual stuff, reset my internet connection, clear cache, the problems were still there:grumpy:

Just had this as well.

Since I upgraded to cable internet last year I've had few problems with disconnects - until last weekend.

Since then I've had many more disconnects in a few days (and also alot of friends can't enter my lobby - either private or random) than what I did for the previous 8+ months.

I host organsied racing 5 nights a week I always clear cache, reboot before opening lobby etc etc etc.

Even the "laptime" bug from earlier this year seemed to have cleared a while back - but since last weekend things have been a nightmare.

I haven't changed any software, software / PS3 settings, hardware or anything from the "routine" or settings that worked so well for past 8 months. I always clear cache every day or two - nothing has changed from "my" end of the connection.

But problems with connection / staying on PSN has increased dramatically in last 5 days.

I usually clear mine when I turn the game on, when I'm done, and after I do "big" races (ie; full seasonal events, long A Spec races). Pretty much anytime I feel the cache is being used a lot, especially from online.

I rarely get disconnects or lag, unless caused by someone. I don't get how some people have severe problems and some only moderate to none?? What's happening?

I've started having problems in recent weeks, and NOTHING for me has changed.

For a long time I played with near zero connection/lag problems.

After moving, my new internet connection is reported to be the same, but I had some occasional disconnects.

In the past couple of weeks, I've had more disconnects, at least twice invisible car problems, 1 case of "incompatibility" in the lounge (someone else reported), and twice tire sounds were missing.

I have the same hard wired connection direct to modem, and no mic, for months. Same equipment for a year. Same internet service. Same everything.
No wireless network, and nobody else using the internet while I'm racing.

Just seems like things get worse, with more problems, as time goes on.
And those who've always had problems, have even more. :boggled:

this is a joke 286 and 282 error codes ruined races up to 200 laps due to server errors, inappropriate facetious hate talkers and people sending threats to hack me, is this what a loyal gt fan has to go through after even doing 24hr aspec lemans. people are going to start wondering y they have followed playstation since ps1 and are going to start thinking xbox instead.and i cant stand xboxes so am just on the verge to give up on ps gt5 aswell. NOT HAPPY BUNNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
