Hello my name is Ade.

I am currently working on a project for my university degree in web design and I am looking for some help/comments/research for my proposed project.

I am wondering firstly what kind of demand would there be for a GT5 league website?

Looking at current league systems I can find no dedicated sites that run leagues with on-line stats and racer profiles. Would this be something that would interest any of you guys?

Thanks for you time and any comments would be greatly appreciated. 👍

Many leagues have their own site, but something that brings them all together would be pretty handy. If you want to take this further, i've got some ideas for you....

-A news feed on the main page with latest results
-A database with past results
-A forum for open discussion
-Video and picture galleries
-A weekly "league spotlight" where a league representative gets a chance to talk about what makes that series different
-A section where people can discuss some regulation ideas for good races
-Maybe a place for people who like running pace cars or announcing to get there names out there. Both can help make a race more interesting and are basically ignored
-A spot races section where anyone can advertise the room they just set up
-Time trial & photomode challenges

It's a great idea, but i'm not sure if everyone would be keen for it when we already have GTP which does most of the things on my list...

Thanks for the quick response.

All really good ideas, most of which I was planning to implement if I was to go ahead with the project.

From what I can see at the moment is that most leagues are run through forums and are a bit disjointed.

I would like to build this as a league series running multiple classes etc. whilst also having profile pages where users can upload images race reports and other media.

Im not planning on making this too large to start with, just running some test leagues would be fine for the moment.

Really liking the ideas of Spot races and challenges btw.

Thanks for the help.

Hi there,

I'm currently in the process of developing a mock-up for this site, Ill also be creating a questionnaire and would be really grateful if any of you guys could take 5 mins to fill it out.

Will post later if anyone would be interested, even if not interested in the league it would still be beneficial to me.

Thanks in advance,

Ade.

Actually I am in mid development of a league system, its been in planning for quite a long time. It will be interesting to see what features you come up with in what time frame, I am finding it a complex task. Though my system will do EVERYTHING, I'd be a lot further along if I cut down the features.

Like it like it like it. If it included simple tables for series where results could be entered and edited, but automatically updated the leader board for that league it would be insane!

I'll do a questionnaire no problem.

If I had time, something I would put together would be a matchmaker service. League commissioners could describe their leagues in the system. Users could complete questionnaires and be matched with leagues that would suit them.

Hi just working on the questionnaire now, but for now here is a mock up im working on.

My plan is to have all the league calculations done by the website with league managers taking care of data input. There is no API I am aware of that can get the data directly from PSN.

Looks very nice, almost professional. I don't know much about copyright laws, but are you allowed to use the actual GT logo?
It looks very good.

Thanks, ill have to look into the details of using the GT logo, or if anyone knows? not a problem to design something new tho, is just really a placeholder at the moment.

Mock up looks fantastic

Survey complete, I was expecting more questions, but nice job regardless 👍

Didnt want to put you guys off with too many questions tbh.

People will have preferences for different league classes ect, but for what im planning moderators will be able to create leagues, championships, and events on the fly with polling systems as suggested by yourself and Vol Jbolaz.

All great ideas and I will try and implement as many of them as I can.

Full championship and league tables will be on a different page, with the home page only showing basic stats.

I am also planning on building in some kind of trophy system that will show on users profiles in their trophy cabinet :)
