The online service of Gran Turismo 5 will undergo maintenance during the following hours:

(1)
Start: 08/24/2011 17:00 GMT
Finish: 08/24/2011 21:00 GMT

(2)
Start: 08/30/2011 03:00 GMT
Finish: 08/30/2011 04:00 GMT

(3)
Start: 09/07/2011 17:00 GMT
Finish: 09/07/2011 23:00 GMT

(4)
Start: 09/14/2011 17:00 GMT
Finish: 09/14/2011 23:00 GMT

During the maintenance, it will not be possible to connect to any of the online services.

*Please note that the exact times of the maintenance may slightly vary.

Maintenance probably means to repair or improve the server infrastructure, therefore improving the network environment. Or, that's what I think the purpose of it is.
 
ye thats most likely i heard rumors of "more" servers actually but thats also like 25 hours of down time scheduled so mybe theres atleast some upgrades and fixes planned also .
 
It seems people aren't noticing this thread, since there's been a few threads all on the same topic (all of which are now closed). This should be handy 👍
 
Signed on to get my Birthday car and freaked a little when I saw the servers were down. I'm glad it's just a few hours.
I can't imagine the car I get would be any good though...

Maybe they messed it up. Because "*Please note that the exact times of the maintenance may slightly vary" does for sure not mean -1 day. :)

Or is it today/now a PSN maintenance? I can't test it atm.
 
we can still race offline, but whats really annoying is the seasonals wont be available so we are limited in what we can do to build cash.

I'd rather do the Dream Car Championship. Almost a million bucks for five races, which is more money in less time than even the Grand Valley endurance race.

On the other hand, if it's XP you want to grind for instead of money, the endurance races would be the better option. In any case, the GT5 servers should be up in about 15-20 minutes and we'll all see what today's 6-hour downtime allowed them to fix.

I just hope that among the fixes is running the vehicle descriptions past an editor since there are a handful of spelling and grammar errors, including pluralizing "Ferrari" as "Ferrari's" instead of "Ferraris" and at least one reference to a game called "Grand Turismo". Oh, and new cars and/or tracks.
 
It should be over but it still says it's under maintenance. :(
But then again, who said something will happen minutes after it's done?
 
Oh no it's the end of GT5!!! It's not updating! Time to flame everyone in a ridiculous manner!

So what could it be...?

The EU and US sites have different maintenance times. Seems like the US one is correct.

US Maintenance Notice & UK Maintenance Notice

Server went down on 08/23/2011 17:00 (GMT)

That means the US date would be correct + the time from the UK site. Looks like their websites are "bugged" like their game. Or they are performing the update for each region separately, at a different time? :odd:

It's now 21.35 GMT, so the GT5 servers should be back since 35 minutes, right? 💡

No. UK Time is GMT +1 (currently daylight saving time) ;)

I don't get it, people complain when there are bugs and other issues that need to be fixed or complain that there is no DLC. Now you complain about the amount of down time, you need to be a bit more patient. It sounds like some people are going to be pulling their hair out when it's down for 8hrs :crazy:
