Why'd you want the racing line? No offense, but I think it's their way of filtering the experience and good drivers from the new guys.

Some people like me can't remember braking zones. I can overtake cleanly and know when to back off, but don't always know when to brake.

Having had enough of Kaz's evasiveness I decided to go get some answers myself from the man. Locating him finally, I started to fire the usual questions at him. He stood there, inscrutable as always and never gave me a proper answer. Because this, because that.
Because Kaz! I told him.
Uh uh, he said. C'mon Kaz, Answers! I demanded. Nothing doing.

Forget huffing and puffing, I told him. Why don't we get what we want?

KazBecauseForza.jpg

Oh! Puh-leeese! I told him. Don't blame Forza. What is the truth? No more going around in circles. Why are you like this?
He was starting to get nervous, looking shifty as hell. I knew I was going to get a solid answer from him soon. Finally he came out with it.

Damn you, Kaz! I yelled, I've had enough of your bloody Skylines. Why are you punishing us?? Why? Why?
He finally looks me in the eye - yeah, that look - that one - and he finally tells me:

KazBecauseGTPlanet.jpg

What?! I scream. You blame us now?
But he doesn't say anymore. He is starting to look real furtive now. This is Curious Kaz at his most inscrutable.
Out with it! I demand. I want the truth, now. There has to be a reason for all this uproar you are causing at GTPlanet.
He lit another cigarette, and squinted at me through the smoke, and I saw the look in his eyes when he finally gave me the real reason why he is punishing us.

I made this on account that the 'real' grip setting should be called reduced grip setting, As I've driven many different cars at speeds from 1mph to over 100mph in all conditions from bone dry to ice and snow... and if real tyres gripped like GT5 claims we'd all be dead really quickly!

Good to see I'm not on my own thinking this. 👍

This is a little off topic here but: The problem with racing other people with the driving line is that people's eyes will be drawn to the line instead of what's going on around them. To race against other people you need to know the venue or slow down until you learn it. Keeping eyes on where one is going and having enough mental reserve to keep competition in mind is more helpful than the driving line. :)

*Insert Michael Jackson "Ice, Ice, Baby!" here*

If Sports tyres handle like ice, then what do Comfort Hard tyres handle like?

so then two simple solutions:

1. learn the barking zones.

OR

2. Pay attention to the flashing gear indicator to know when to slow down.

Not that hard.

I ignore it until I see the solid red line.

I can't really be expected to learn the brake zone for all the tracks in the game, plus, even though my eyes are keen enough to notice small changes, I can't pick that flashing most of the time.

Its not that I'm not clean, its just I havent the time to learn all the lines and braking points of all the tracks, it is only a game after all and if I had the time to learn such things I'd be a racing driver...

Besides I'm yet to join a room (titled free run or race for fun) without the racing line and not see nearly every driver slide off on the first corner.

I feel its more down to elitism that people are afraid to use racing line, driver aids for the risk of having the status quo mock them for being dirty or bad drivers.

Its no biggy its just something that grinds my gears when entering a room with where everyone obviously need the racing line!

I understand I'm not the quickest, but I am clean, fair and know the tracks fairly well and I have never once ploughed straight into a corner without braking and took people out of the race... But I dont know the tracks braking points perfectly hence why I still use the racing line and why I never enter a Race for Real lobby (I have no place there) what my objection was is why are people so afraid to not allow the racing line in the race for fun or even free run lobbys? At least give people the option.

Anyway enough of this on a meme thread... we now return you to the arts! haha

Yes I did notice it, Jacko might have appeared a bit 'vanilla' and he may have used that line in other circumstances but not as lyrics if I remember correctly.

It just fits in the same category as using the wrong meme.

I hate seeing 'GERMAN ONLY' rooms and things like this, I thought the internet was about breaking down international barriers?

So this is very apt for me!

I beg to differ, i know the Ring like the back of my hand.. but when its pitch black using a STANDARD car.. i turn that thing on and follow it for dear life:nervous:

Generally they first make some remark ,which I can't understand, about how because I'm English I can't race NASCARS... then when I beat them I'm accused of hacking and kicked...
They're jealous because I can turn left as well as right ;)
