GT5 Night Racing and weather question??

I would really like to have the option to race on a track with dew still on it in the early AM (or late evening), or a wet track with some puddles after a rain has gone through. I can experience the different physics, and yet have a beautiful sunny atmosphere while I drive.

thanks for the tip moderator, but i know english well enough. that was pretty insulting what u said. this is why i didnt join gtp forums earlier, to much silly rules, i am pretty sure most ppl can read the post, but am sorry for double posting. this isnt english class here :-/

It was insulting because you're use of text speak is insulting the English language. More importantly, there are many people who visit these forums that are not native English speakers. Reading a different language is hard enough without half words and general literary laziness. No, this is not English class, but you took an English class so that you could come to moderated forums like this one and make sense to everyone else.

Yes that's partly what i meant.

But also night racing hasn't really been done too well IMO. Not that it was bad or anything but im wondering that maybe this time around with the power of the ps3 they can add light sources to headlights and all the instruments in that car. That in cockpit view would be EPIC
In gt5p, if you go through the high speed ring tunnel, all interior lights including, Gauges, radio knobs, aircondition knobs, ETC light up when it's in the dark. look's beautiful,
love the real time ambient lighting in the astin martin DB9. i will take some pictures to show you then post them up. the game is so detailed, you can even see other guages and trip computers light up in other cars, like the eye drive system in the bmws to the gtrs computer. edit. interior lights also come on for london...for some odd reason.

Honestly I have this fear... that the PS3 can't handle GT5 (GT5p) as it is now with weather, damage, and dynamic lighting (day/night) in addition to the high LOD, 1080p, 60fps, 16 cars on screen, Ai, and physics. I know it is one powerful machine but I feel like that may just be pushing it. This isn't GTR2. Everything in GT5 is more, and as a result doing things like weather, damage, and dynamic lighting become far more resource intensive.

You do know that all developers are still having trouble in using all the ps3's power right?

Yes but that in itself is a sort of paradox, it's because there is not enough of the easily accessable power available that they are having to take complex measures in order to get that last drop of performance out.

I mean if you gave almost any developer a supercomputer, you could guarantee the games would look pretty much photorealistic. The developers have the talents to model and create features realistically, it's just how you implement these features and allocate the limited power available that is the hard task and seperates the good developers from the bad.

Oh yeah. Don't get me wrong. I know that the PS3 has reached only about 50-70%... but honestly think about it... all those things put together is asking a lot. If you were to build a gaming rig that could play GRiD at 60fps, 1080p, with more cars, damage, GT5 level models/track, dynamic lighting and say some rain thrown in, not to mention the better physics it would cost a fortune (ie more than a PS3, probably close to a $1000 and that is custom built, go brand name and forget about it). Now ask a system with, lets face it, an oldish GPU, little ram, and a very powerful CPU to do all that.

While that logic does not exactly work you get my point. Honestly if PD pulls all that off it may well be the Crysis of racing games.

They'll figure it out. Look at the graphics expected for GT:Mobile. Personally I'm waiting to try Clubman Stage R5, Special Stage R5 and Special Stage R11 in the day time. As well as see the Nurburgring in the twilight.
Dynamic lighting isn't too hard. If you think about it, the shadows, highlights and reflections are constantly redrawn in Prologue. In the case of dynamic lighting, it should be no more than child's play when/if Polyphony Digital adds it. It's just a matter of moving the source of the light (the sun) across the map (course) so it changes the light.

LOL i doubt GT mobile will have gfx like that, you do know that devs GLORIFY these things to give you a WOW factor and to get sales. dont believe everything you see image wise. EVER specially for a game

Yeah, PD is one of those gifted few developers out there who can get amazing performance out of any platform, regardless of how underpowered it may be (just look at GT4).

If anyone can make night racing and weather a reality, its them.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but I am almost convinced that the brightness of the sun changes from lap to lap on the Fuji circuit, I have no way of measuring this really, and it's quite subtle, but the fact that I only notice it on this one track and none of the others convinces me even more.

I've noticed on Daytona that some parts of the track there is less sunlight and less colour in these areas as well. Usually coming off one of the bankings. It's nothing huge and is pretty subtle but it's enough to notice if you're paying attention.

Would that be the turn before the kink where the finish line is ?.

Actually, to me Gran Turismo 5 looks better than Crysis.

My PC runs Crysis, Crysis Warhead and Far Cry 2 at max settings and beyond a steady 60fps and I really, honestly think that Gran Turismo 5 looks more photo-realistic than any of those three games.

Honestly, I used to think that there wasn't any game that could top the graphics quality in Crysis . Crysis has superb graphics - semi photo-realistic at times, but still a beautiful game most of the time [still, Crysis has BY FAR the BEST water I have yet seen in any game - both the surface of it and especially below the water's surface]. Gran Turismo 5 looks photo-realistic most of the time, so I have to give Polyphony Digital their deserved respect for this. :)👍

I wonder if GT5 might be a game to celebrate 11 years of the series ( i feel older now and not so wise lol ).

LOL!

Me too! I remember getting SO excited about GT2 and playing it for hours on end, day after day.

It was the first racing game I honestly couldn't wait to play. The first Gran Turismo blew me away too.

Ahh, the memories. Good times. 👍

hmmm going cruising in a lamborghini reventon at night while its raining.... orgasm
