I played both games, GT5: P and GT5 full version, and i have to say Prologue has better graphics:

-Better Shadows
-Better lighting
-In some tracks the grass way better
-The tracks has shiny road
-The car's reflections way better i think.

Just my opinion.

Obviously they had to sacrifice a few things to be able to fit fully dynamic lighting and weather effects.

Prologue has 70 cars who cares PD don't need to fix nothing. You need to fix yourself go play Prologue or GT4.

Completely disagree except for the shadows. Fuji, HSR and Suzuka all have a lot less details in Prologue, especially in the textures, the smoke in GT5:P is a joke compared to GT5, there's no debris and no skid marks.

In Prologue, the cars that were out of focus were disgusting to see. They had like a gray-white aura surrounding the car. I really hated that, it looked so cheap.

Oh, and the framedrops on GT5P were more common.

Ok, whatever PD should fix this

They also need to fix understeer on RWD cars. And the ability to put a rearwing on FWD cars. And loading times. And standards upgraded to premium. And brake wear. And looking around while looking back. And looking around the hood of your car. And zooming in on the rear of your car. And this. And that. And this while doing that.

It doesn't make sense to fix that! GT5 a lot more cars, a lot more tracks, and many other data which causes that.

Prologue was brighter in general, I think that's why a selection of people like it better than GT5. I have a suspicion that the true graphics of GT5 were tamed to save the game from loosing frame rate. Remember the footage of racing in the rain around Eiger in cockpit view before the game was released? It looked a lot sharper. The individual raindrops rolling down the wind screen looked so real it was uncanny.
In my version of GT5 it doesn't look that way. :( Does anyone else think that this may be the cause to some of GT5's low quality details?

First thing I said when I played GT5 was that Prologue looked a touch more refined. No big deal though, PS3 doesn't have unlimited power. It's the price you pay for having dynamic weather and time, amongst others.

Dynamic visual damage. Scratches. Dirt. Milleage/wear engine. Tires/fuel depletion. And this is only car-related things.

You always have the same exact 256+256MB of RAM on disposal. Not a MB more. GT5 is magical.

All of that, and (IMO, the prime cause of the downgraded graphics) 3D support. If only Sony didn't force PD to add 3D to GT5, maybe it would have looked and performed a lot better than it does now.

Yeah GT5p cars had a problem with antialiasing that's mainly fixed in GT5. I did notice GT5p had some really nice lighting effects that GT5 toned down like for example turn 2 at the High Speed Ring- it looked amazing in replays with the low sun bouncing off the track and cars. In GT5 that effect isn't quite as impressive, but GT5 adds a lot of thing that GT5p lacks. It's all a trade-off in memory capacity and whatnot.

I can't wait to see what GT6 (or whatever GT first comes out on the PS4) looks like. I bet we'll all be blown away.

I don't think Prologue look better, GT5 have a lot of improvements on it:

Weather effects, on Prologue the light source was fix on GT5 on some tracts with dynamic effect its changing so the shadows of the car according to that source.
Better dynamic light.
Smoke effects.
Dirt and detritus effects.
Skid marks.
Also the animation of the hands driver is better than Prologue, more real.
More camera angles (interior where you see the driver shifting up/down)
Sparks.
Damage.
More detailed textures on tracks, example of Fuji, Suzuka...
Etc, etc...

As Amar212 says it is great to see how the managed to mix all together on with the same resources, they did a great engine optimization.

Another thing you'll notice is that in GT5P the crowd of people at Eiger doesn't cast shadow. They do in GT5.

Other small improvement, for example, is the stitching on the Ferrari F430- in GT5P they were almost floating as opposed to being a part of the leather. That's been tremendously improved in GT5.

I thing to remember is that PD despite all the added features to the graphics- improved dynamic lighting, smoke, dirt, better sound and physics/FFB, still manage to keep the frame-rate (around 60fps) and the resolution (1280x1080px).

Do people think we can magic up more processing power or something?

Prologue looked incredible and so does GT5 but Prologue looked slightly better (and this makes perfect sense.)

Gran Turismo 5: The Real Time of Day Simulator.

It goes more than just time of day. The small incremental changes in lighting for tracks with changeable weather is just as good. Being able to notice the fog slowly dissipating at Spa is as close I'll ever get to being mind-blown in a racing game. In my 15 years of sim-racing, I've never experienced anything quite like it.

Also GT5P has no night races. After driving the Alfa 8C using the cockpit view at SSR5, I began to understand why GT5 has taken this long. The colourful light reflections off the dashboard and the console of the 8C from the various light sources on the street is every bit as impressive as the fog at Spa.

This is nothing new. I instantly noticed this last year when jumping from GT5P to GT5. GT5 feel less softer than GT5P, but to a level where it´s practically unnoticeable.

To be honest, I expected GT5 to look worst than it actually does. OP, how can you ask for this to be fixed? You realize how much content PD managed to put in this game, and still the game performs a thousand times better than other games, like NFS Shift for instance, which is painful to watch other than when it´s paused.

I think PD made a miracle. And yet there wasn´t too much they sacrificed, other than less cars in the track. Yet they added realistic smoke, sparks, damage, weather and a day-night cycle that looks simply unreal(in the good sense of the word).

Hasn´t anyone that drives through the Nurburgring with day and night cycle, wonder how the hell can this game run so smooth with so many content and details in a massive track full of cars?

And the ability to put a rearwing on FWD cars.

What's wrong with that? A rear wing is pretty handy for any car, regardless of drivetrain, for extra grip at high speed.
Several FF race cars feature rear wings, in fact almost all FF touring cars feature rear wings.

If it wasn't useful for series like BTCC, they would surely have stopped using them due to the drag they bring.
