GT5 Prologue had better graphics...

GT5P is a floppy disk of information compared to GT5. And on a HD TV, GT5 is far better graphical wise that Prologue..

And Ardius, are you being serious? A rear wing on a FF would cause massive drag at no performance...
A FF car drives from the front? Think about it.

The PS3 has its limits, there is no "simple fix" to make the graphics in Gran Turismo 5 better. If you want better detailed graphics, then you will have to either get rid of cars on the track, tone down the physics, get rid of damage, tone down the draw distance, tone down textures, make the game run at 30FPS, etc.

I dunno. GT5 just looks blurry on my monitor at 1080p, due to the quincunx AA, compared to GT5P.

720p, however, fixes it a bit with MSAA, but it still looks nowhere near as sharp as GT5P did.

I'd say, get rid of the QAA in 1080p, then I'm happy. Otherwise, I'm stuck here waiting till the PS4 to launch. =/

I played both games, GT5: P and GT5 full version, and i have to say Prologue has better graphics:

-Better Shadows
-Better lighting
-In some tracks the grass way better
-The tracks has shiny road
-The car's reflections way better i think.

Just my opinion.

Add to this:

- 2x-3x faster loading times
- Better reflections (no pop-up and better resolution)
- No scenery pop-up
- Crisper graphics and true 2x or 4x AA (not QAA)
- Better cockpit view (camera) IMO

Also:

- Better intro (60fps and overall)
- Better end movie
- Better car showcase (showroom)
- Better menu music
- Track videos!!!
- CGI showcase before race!!!
- Ability to zoom-in in replays

He's both serious and quite correct.

If you want to either reduce lift (which all cars will encounter) or create downforce then you need aero, you don't just want it at the front otherwise you will end up with a car that oversteers at speed (not a smart idea at all) regardless of drivetrain. To be able to provide balanced handling at speed you need aero at the front and the back and that means a wing.

Its far from massive drag with no performance.

“We needed to fix a position for the rear wing, based on the aerodynamics of the road car, which gave the levels of downforce we were looking for,” said the championship’s technical director, Peter Riches.

GT5:P did indeed have better graphics over GT5, but that's about it,

Game play wise, GT5 is the heavyweight champion over Prologue.

You forgot to mention IMO. Because pretty much everything you mentioned is wrong.

GT5 is in 1080p, if it was made to run in 720p only, they could have smoothed out shadows and alpha textures like smoke and dust. They also could have put in more trackside objects, better quality trackside objects, etc. The lighting and car models are second to none in GT5. In GT5p, there was a lot of aliasing on the cars that they fixed in GT5, so some things are better.

Nice old thread bump BTW.
