I agree with those arguments regarding the need for new copies for the game. It’s just the timing of release that confuses me. Maybe the Big Fall Update is just another Vaporware:ouch:

It also costs money to have these updates available online. No idea no much their upstream would be but it doesn't matter. The new disc will reduce the amount of data that's downloaded from their service.

My guess is that it’s still cheaper than master/press/package/distribute a Bluray copy. Not to mention they get rid of many intermediates cost/profits.

If PD and KY wants that GT5 is perfect, when that 'The Day' will come, they need to give us still many updates including different features. (tracks, cars, tuning, priv.rooms, etc etc...)

We are their test-group, and maybe that is one reason why this release-date is always going later and later. What if they did not realise earlier, how much feedback they would get from all these different communities who are playing too serious this Game.

When KY says, 'they are not started to do GT5 yet...' , I think it means there is not that time, when they finally put everything in one package. Updating Prologue, is in my mind 'doing GT5'... and when they add new things bit by bit, we will have almost Final version some day.

In my thoughts, Prologue-updating is not pushing Final Version release longer and longer. ...that's how I wanna see it. I have no other games, and that's how I liked to keep it.

This suggests another update. On the other hand, they could just be referring to the current Spec III. Very confusing. :confused:

This is really easy to read.. It means that people who got SPEC I or II version disc can update for free to SPEC III 👍
 
They're on about customers that own GT5: P already can update to spec III (if you haven't done so already).
 
Because it's translation issues.. It clearly states OLD spec version copies can upgrade for free to spec III and beyond. They only put this so people are clear that SPEC III disc is not only version to upgrade to damange or spec IV... etc.

I'm pretty sure the update we've seen is not the "fall" update Sony hyped us with. I have a feeling that TGS will give us the real part of the update that we've been waiting for.

If PD gives us damage at TGS, its going to be a god-send. I am certain that we will see some sort of information on GT5 or atleast an update to GT5P at TGS ;)
 
Sony already had it's press conference, in which they've shown... nothing...

Anyway, this is more like GT4 to me. "we're going to have drag-racing, online, wet races, blahblahblah"

I can't believe i missed on a bet about damage...

Count me on the disappointed side. I really want to be proven wrong, but i just have a feeling i won't. If those 3 cars were not all, they wouldn't call spec III.
 
Sony has lost and thats fact... MS do their jobs much better... Sony is working on Home since the PS2 and today they told that the open beta will come end of 2008 in japan... maybe in 2 years here in europe (my opinion)... im very frustrated about sonys politic... the most shocking news for me was that Tekken will come Fall 2009! first they told it will come summer 08,then fall 08 and then on christmas 08 and now on fall 09 :O and it will come on xbox too lol...

But i think finaly i ve got to buy me a xbox... wouldn´t wonder if ms buy the GT series too for their xbox... like final fantasy...

I completely agree, it's very sad.. :( And PD don't seem to give a damn about their fans who are waitng for at least a sign of life.

And then the idea of this Spec III Bundle.. Who cares about that when we want private lobbies, damage, more tracks, and so on!? It's all going down man.....

MS are just been asses, trying to get into the console market faster than anyone else has ever done to become a major player in only 2 generations. They plan is just to use loads of money to win the battle rather than deving quality stuff of thier own.. its a bit like EA! :sick:

But I guess all companies are like that right, well I guess no one told Sony, damn they need to be more ruthless!

Sony did the same thing with the PS1, bumping Sega out of the picture. Before that, Nintendo entered the market and knocked off Atari.

:sly: I was probably too young to remember those but I guess even the creation of home video game consoles must have killed the arcade market somewhat so everyones to blame! But its just the ruthless tactics which MS are using which are quite off putting, but hey thats business!

Without a good selection of first party games Sony will continue to stay where they are or maybe even slip further. Why dont I hear something going from 360 exclusive to PS3 exclusive! That'll be that day!

As I understand it, XB360 is about a PC housed in a Box the size of a gaming console. Developers may easily port games on pretty well known hardware. Sure, this helps the box getting faster maturity, but that also means it will reach end of cycle sooner. How much are they selling it at the moment? Think off how many PS3 Sony would sell at 199€ to get a better picture.

Coding for the PS3 may be trickier than thought hence delays in the release of the major franchises. And sure Microsoft has money enough to bribe some teams, but I doubt they’ll ever take control over Polyphony. I’m pretty sure Kazunori and his team will tame the beast, and release a game that will keep us busy way beyond XB720. Now if they just could hire a descent public relation representative...
 
Yes they do need to hire more public relation representatives. Since is taking So long to create GT5. It would be nice they give us more information and not keep us in the dark as much. Lately all they stated, "Here you go GT fans, 3 new cars. Oh and don't forget about Private rooms and damage to come out soon" Its good news but not enough for thirsty fans.

Guys from Bungie, Halo guys, they pretty much are going multi platform now.. I think that was bigger news then FF going to xbox. Besides FF will have an exclusive for PS3 which will be called VERSUS. So not all hope is gone.
 
I do agree that ms give people what their want much much better than sony do. What's a pc without software. What would you rather have?:

A pc with 10000000000000gb hard drive, 512 core processer, 500gb of ram and a 100" screen, but, the only software it has in ms paint and you can't get any other programs ever.

or

a standard pc with loads and software.

What am trying to say is sure the ps3 is a more powerful console, but all our games are delayed and that's no good.

I guess it's good, because seems Sony is getting more solid Exclusives this year then Xbox.. I did not get Xbox for VIVA PINIATA.
But I would Rather Have the POWERFUL pc, because later on somone will make EPIC games. And PS3's years 08 and 09 is time for the epic games.
 
Should they rename gran turismo - Gran wait-a-mo or Gran Slo-mo?

Because its just endless waiting......

They should really pull there finger out - once people race with 'real' people on-line they don't care for AI so to start private rooms should be their number one priority so we can race with our friends.

The Citroen GT Concept is just a flight of fantasy - a dream - the people at polophony need to stop dreaming and wake up and smell the coffee, they are letting their fanbase down - give us what we want!!!

I impulsively bought a PS3 on Day 1. Opened the box and downloaded the GT Demo. Also, I need to confess:guilty: I created a Japanese account to download the Prologue/GTR demo because it never showed up on the store here. (feel much better now:))

I don’t believe it’s about the quantity of software you able to run that matters, it’s more about the software that suits you the best.

It’s not even a question of platform, so be assured that my point was not to start a BOX vs PS war. It was just a thought on the long term perspective.👍
 
yeah, i bet pd spent loads and loads of time making the Citroen and all the things about it when are should have been making the game.
 
Well, I don’t know the terms of the deal between Polyphony and Citroën on the matter, but this attempt may lead to even better surprises in the future. I’d like to think of it as a win/win scenario for both companies that may eventually inspire other manufacturers...

Edit: Well , I may have so memory losses here, but previous Prologue games where sealed on DVDs with no update “whatsoever”. I like the way things have changed, because this allows us “willing consumers” to get the surprise of a bonus from time to time, or the ability to choose to pay/upgrade our software.

The speculation only happens because PD is like a country hiding nuclear weapons. They are so secret about their business that it makes me sick.

I love japanese developers, but like Metal Gear Solid, it's time to "westernize" the development a bit. Ryan Payton did wonders for MGS4 and i'm sure a european or NA developer would help PD.

At least we would know what they are doing.

People are speculating and we can't blame them.

Did they start on GT5 after GT4 was finished?
Did they really worked on GT HD? if so, how much time was lost there?
Is it true that PD doesn't even have plans for GT5?
Is it true that that have no idea what gamers outside of 2ch and playstation forum think?
What is spec III? Was it those 3 cars or there's more? If so, why did they promise damage in the fall?

That's just from the top of my head, but it goes to show that, in fact, we know nothing about the game.

I would be extremely shocked if the game comes out before x-mas 2010 in Japan.

They got really famous, Sony gave them a lot of freedom in development and now they seem out of touch with reality.

There's only one way to fight speculative posts like mine: information, which right now we have none.
