In an effort to make it easier to figure out which car is required, needed or should be used for each race I have started working on an Excel spread sheet with the following data:

- Race series
- Race name
- Level requirements
- Tire restrictions
- Typical Opponents (with notes) including max-min HP and max-min KGS
- Tracks
- Laps
- Weather

I'm only at Level 17 which is the up to the Professional Series, so I'm looking for help and feedback. If you see any errors or can assist by providing additional data that would be great... please reply to this thread or email me. THANKS!

11/27/10 - V1a never released, private data collection thru Beginners Series only
11/28/10 - V1b data thru Professional Series, public release, awaiting feedback

My recommendation, at least for the specifically car-restricted races (eg: Lightweight K-Cup, Japanese Classic, etc); would be to copy the allowed cars / cheat-sheet from the entry requirements screen. Makes it easier to shop for a car, without having to bounce between dealerships and the Entry Requirements screen.

That's pretty much what I'm doing, except not copying the whole list car-for-car, just the requirements (as specified) and the HP/KGS range of your competition. Hopefully people can figure out from the description what cars should be used.

JMII, can I suggest you got back and check the 'typical oponents' list, when your using a different car ?

I've positive that I've raced against a different set of cars, when the one I was racing had been tuned to have more power.

I have gone back to check - the list remains the same but the cars that actually show up for the race are different. However they always seem to fit the profile, IE: hatchbacks with around 120 HP for example. I think that's why they call it "typical opponents". The list isn't locked its just kind of a guide or suggestion.

Back in GT1 it was the same, the AI drove a random set of cars but their HP/KGS ratio remained very similar. However every now and then an odd car shows up to complete screw you up. For example I was running a race and the fastest AI car was an MR2, then I re-entered the race (w/the same car) and found a Mini Cooper was the top dog. Me and the MR2 had a good battle but I smoked the Mini without changing any parts. Stuff like this makes it tough to figure what level of tune you need to win a race. Sure I could build a super car that blows the competition away, but I try to make each race close. If I get too much of a lead I'll quit and remove some part then try again. Shame that qualifying is gone, because that let you compare your car against the AI before the race started, then you could swap parts if needed.

I tried downloading this but it came out jibberish... it's an Excel file, right?

If not, anyone know of any other resource similar to this? I'm hoping to find something already out there to save me from making one myself. Thx!
