GT5 Recall?

I know it's a startling title.. maybe misleading..

My Question Is, Has The Gran Turismo 5 disc, ever been recalled?
mine seems to preform quite crappily, Ive cleaned it, cleaned my ps3 out, cleaned the blu-ray, and it is the only game i have that does this.. any answers?
 
It can happen to any game, not just GT5 - you just had some bad luck on the disk.

I've seen some even cracked (not GT5) near the center of the disk - the plastic part in the center; before the game was even removed from the case.

The place you picked it up from should take it back for an even exchange - unless it's been awhile.
 
^it's been a while.... but anyway, the problem is loading and freezing, online and off. load times taking FOR EVER. and lots of hang time. where it does nothin
 
Tried uninstall/reinstall?



Oh man.. The one time I get the chance to make a Total Recall joke and bam! Brain death.

... Did you read what OP said? Anyway, GT5's never been recalled but what exactly do you mean by crappily? Like what's specifically going wrong on your game?

Edit: try clearing your system cache.

Not that I'm aware of. I've had a few issues too now and then, and wondered whether it was the disc, as it always happens when the blu-ray seems to be reading. Almost picked up another copy yesterday, for just in case. Didn't in the end, but it was tempting for AU$ 20!

...Uh...I pointed out the exact same thing you did. :dunce: He never gave a direct reason as to why he was wondering if the disk had been recalled.

Don't worry about me, I think I know what I'm doing.

The problems you've listed can also happen when you have a slow/congested internet connection. If you're downloading a movie, or someone in your household (on the same connection) is using it to watch a HD video on Youtube while you're playing GT5, it will affect loading time. At least, that's what I've experienced.
 
It's your bluray laser. It's going bad or dirty. It's common with fat ps3's and this game is dual layered making it harder to load than most.
My fat would hardly ever even try reading gt5. But other games were fine. So I left the ps3 on and loaded for 3 months. Then power failure made me open it up and clean the laser. Got another 6 months out of it.
If you have dust or even smoking near the ps3, it will dirty it. Take it apart and clean it. it's easy.

have done this as well^ i got a wet Q-tip, and cleaned it off, and then dryed it with another Q-tip, seems to still do the same thing, also, i have cleared cache, downloaded the 8MB install, I deleted the game an ran of the disk for a while too, and it did nothing what so ever, so i re-installed it.. i think its deffinatly the game or ps3
 
My game runs ok. Except I want to buy a Nissan! Why must my game stop loading when I open up the Nissan dealership!!!! Nissan and only Nissan does this to me. I hate to love my skyline simulator sometimes :/
 
Try playing the game without an internet connection. That way you'll see if it's your internet connection that causes the problems.
 
ive had the same problems to the point where i just gave up on playing the game.. for me it would just stay at loading screens and never move. i tried EVERYTHING to get it to work with no success. and like you i had a suspiscion it was the disc..

im buying a new gt5 disc later today, (its 12:20am now) so practically tomorow.
