yeh.. i have to play gt5 @576p on that monitor in the cabinet.

no matter.. i do have a 50" 1080p plasma and a 46" 3d LED tv(s) in the house to play gt5 on too!

for now, due to the lack of being able to backup our save games for now (and i have a seperate ps3 in the cabinet), i play career mode and the 3dtv and i have been using the cabinet for the arcade mode. it plays very well.

as soon as 3dtv's become small enough, or 3dPC monitors become big enough (26" wide), i will be installing one in the cabinet for sure.

playing in 3d is awesome, but doing it with a wheel and cockpit too will be out of this world awesome!

Simply epic. It's one of my goals one day to build a man cave one day, and instead of the typical pool table that no one really uses, to have some arcade machines and game gear set-up...(im putting in the bar though, that is a must :) ).

Best DIY Rig ever! I wish i can find a cabinet and try to pull something like that. I thought the happ wheel is only 270 degree. Is there any model that has 900 degree?

LOL "I like the Nurburgring you like the Nurburgring.. ok" that's an awesome setup you got there.

thankyou for the comments guys. there is no real reason why you cant make one of these machines yourselves!

i have helped another few forum goers (on another forum) do the exact same thing to old sega cabinets. this is becmoing a very popular mod now that you can actaully emulate the real sega rally and daytona usa games with proper force feedback, more and more folks are turning to the these cabs to build thier driving set up!

and get this- my set up there cost much less than one of the racing chairs or cockpits you can buy!

eg.. you can buy one of these old machines fom ebay for a few hundred £ or $ or EU, sell off the hardware (game boards and components etc) and easily make all you money back plus more!.. then all you need is a happ wheel from another old cabinet, a logitech driving force GT or EX or g25 (if your brave) to hack the happ onto (and an amplifier)!

my cab cost £650 working with game, i sold the insides and game for over £800.. it is now costing arounf £250 all in and plays any pc, ps2, or ps3 racing game- and all the old arcade games too!! with REAL FFB!

yeh, it is 270, but to be honest- i find this to be NO limitation? if you watch my video, when i go incar view, you can see my hands and the cockpit hands turn at the same pace and angle.. i feel no restriction whatsoever in any game.

there are many of you guys out there searching for a good wheel to play on.. for me (from an arcade enthusiast hobby background), this was a no brainer!:dopey:

think about it.. what is the best FFB experience in a driving game you have ever had? that 1st ever play of daytonaUSA or sega rally? maybe it was ridgeracer2? or any one of the many other arcade games you played!

these arcade motors are huge and have immense power! built industrial spec to last and take years of day in day out abuse- and still perform!

the power in my Happ is so great, i cannot hold it straight, nothing subtle about it.. i can ofcourse turn down the voltage- but there's no fun in that!!

cheers..i hope i have inspired, and if anyone want to try a job like this, i would be happy to assist with all the knowledge and know how and where to gets.

Would you be interested still in a USA original PS3?
With multimonitors not supported I have one that Im going to sell on, just thought Id mention it as I know few in the UK have them.

If your interested you can PM me and if not no harm done...

Regards PC monitors, some I believe are to be shown at CES in Jan. These will be the first monitor HDMI 1.4 displays, capable of showing 3D via PS3/Sky and they should be due out 1ST QTR in 2011

You have, after seeing your cab and looking at how much a decent driving frame costs (for a good one) I put out some feelers to find a SEGA or Cruis'n cab to convert. Mine will be simpler, just a shelf for swapping in wheels, or my flightstick, or my Steel Battalion controller, but I'll post up what I do!

Well... I got my SEGA Rally cab today. It was broken in half (literally) but at least it was free and had some good parts left. The CP/Shifter is still good, the base, and lots of the metal bits... and I did score another cab (Road's Edge converted to an X-Treme Rally) with a HAPP wheel in it, so it's got possibilities... but sure sad about how the SEGA Rally cab turned out.

no matter mate!.. you can resotre the sega rally back to its original new look quite easily.. abit of sand blasting, paint and some new vinyls/artwork and it'll look as good as new. with the happ in the dash and sega rally playing on screen via your pc, it'll look like it was meant to be!

the sega rally will likely have a 24k monitor in it. we need a 31k monitor to use with the ps3. the road's edge cab may have a 31k monitor or a tri-sync monitor (15k/24k/31k), im unsure, but it may come in very handy.

have a look around the back of the monitor to see if its 31k.

i have a (growing) 8 page long thread about my build on another related forum. there a few others who have also done this mod too.. i'll pm you a forum address to go and register at- you would get alot of useful info from the thread and all the help you need to make it work...

cheers

hmm.. looks like i should update the picture of my machines, having just got the new sega cabinet recently.

Oh, the SEGA Rally was trash. I kept the base to maybe build a rig out of, but the cab portion itself was done. I stripped it and tossed it. I'll keep my eyes open for a more modern SECA cab, but for now it's looking like the Xtreme Rally cab is what I'm gonna build on...

Both of the cabs were empty of monitors and boards, so I'm replacing the old CRT with as large a flat screen as I can fit in there, and I'm sure a custom bezel to fill in the gaps, yeah, I know I'll lose the authentic arcade look, but I'll gladly take HD and easy compatibility instead.

Yes, please PM me the link to the other forum, I've looked at your pix 100 times and I'm sure I'll have SO many questions when I start putting it all together!
