GT5 Runs Better WITHOUT Install

Thanks to re-installing the game, it's running the fastest it ever has. 👍

I think the install can become fragmented after a time so that's why many of you are finding that uninstalling it is faster. But try to re-install, it may be quicker yet!

Wow! I've noticed that after two last patches my loading times increased a lot! Do I have to reinstall or just un-install the game? Need some checking now!

Edit: I have the idea that game loads initial version first then loads patches. So that's maybe why it's so slow after some patching. And maybe we need to reinstall it after patch...

This maybe a rumour but the reason the data is installed in your hard drive Is to stop the problem of the disc reading laser burning out due to the repeatedly pulling the data from the disc, if it's not installed your laser is going like the clappers to read the disc, this was a problem on older ps3 consoles b4 the slim arrived, I lost two old styles to blown lasers. But as I say it may have been sorted now.

I think reinstall is the key. PS3 has its own File System so maybe it fragments much faster or anything else. BTW today I'll find it out and post some loading times - any suggestions? (track/car/menu etc...?) I will be testing off-line because on-line (if it has problems) increasing loading times.

The game dynamically intalls if you choose no anyway!

I deleted and re-installed

Nurb 24hr before 55secs

Nurb 24hr after 35secs

Question for you: After you did this, were all of your car thumbnails gone?

I uninstalled the game last week and at first it seemed to help but after a couple of days it still took forever to load the game or a lounge. I cleared the cache and installed the game again and now it's running faster than ever. 👍

I tried this on my new PS3. It ran sooooo sloooooow. Maybe it's just you guys HDD that's giving up?

I guess it's only a method to kill your disk drive faster. :D

Maybe some guys have a old PS3 with a older & slower HDD. Would explain why the disk drive seems to be faster for these guys. Check this out: PS3 Slim Hard Drive SATA Speed

No big performance boost with the PS3 possible (PS3 hardware limited). We have to wait for the PS4 (which will more profite from the performance boost of a SSD, I guess).

But replacing your old/slow PS3 HDD with a newer/faster HDD won't hurt. :sly:

Sounds plausible. A try worth. :)👍

And there's no fragmentation info or a defragmentation tool available for the PS3.

I just uninstalled the game and in all honesty, the loading times decreased. The game runs much smoother, no doubt about it. PD really *****d this one up. And no, the console does not run any hotter than usual. 👍

EDIT: I have an old fatty PS3. (Manufactured January 2008)

What do you mean, solid state drive? If you install it to a solid state drive it's even faster than the disc?

EDIT: Never mind, got you now. Excpet not everyone has the time or money to buy one.

Money could be an issue of ofcourse but for those without 'time' can login to the 'internet' and order the ssd from an online retailer, and they can deliver to your door :o technology is amazing...and if you don't have time to click a mouse a few times then how do you have time to play gt5

I have no money. That's the problem. I know how to order online, I ordered a computer from my cell phone in a tree stand hunting deer.

Will that also clear all the thumbnails if I delete the game install, not patch?

The hassle of creating all thumbnails again is too much

After performing the permanent borrow glitch multiple times I've noticed that my game runs better, and smoother with less drops in framerate than if I were to install the game on my PS3. I also noticed that loading times were actually improved if the game wasn't installed on my system. Only downside to this was the excess noise coming from my PS3 when it's loading from the disc...

WTF? I thought it was supposed to be the otherway around?

Permanent borrow glitch = Lame
Enjoy the extra Blu Ray stress on your laser.
More GT5 patches incoming for cheats like this.....

I'm not grinding 12398512948165 gazillion credits for expensive cars
I could care less
So?

Why is PD so awkward? Only jokes. Im just going to keep mine installed. Out of all the things people complain about GT5, loading times has never even crossed my mind. Maybe I'm just patient, maybe it's because I love the menu music, the loading times bother me none.

What does bother me though is when you complete a seasonal race and it takes you back to the home screen. Now thats annoying.

I have things to do besides GT5, like school and life and such lol. I don't have time for grinding.

Well then I have no excuse other than pure laziness. However I have been grinding and stuff now so it's all good.

And yes, I epicly fail at GT5. Let me tell you lol =P

So in the space of 2 minutes you stated you didn't have any time for grinding , then you said you have been grinding ..... Hmmmmm I smell a lie there somewhere .

Regardless of that fact I stand by my original statement in reference to borrow glitching.

It's lame & you'll get cars several times quicker just by playing the , you know , game.

But you go to school , so you know that already.

Happy Borrowing , uh I mean " Grinding ".
