GT has class feeling to it. Putting some colouring **** on cars would take a bit of it away. This is not some arcade game.

Ever looked at how awesome the cars look in GT and in photomode with the superb lighting? Livery would ruin GT's look.

If you want livery go play forza. Personally i hope kaz never introduces that **** into GT. Just like he never brought that abhorrent rewind **** into the game

Really? You mean classy as in watching people already putting distasteful colours on their cars or wheels (or huge spoilers), putting hideous wheels on cars like the Lamborghini Miura or paint their Jaguar XJ13 in a bright matte?
Sorry but I laugh hard when I see those (they're not real cars remember) and don't see any difference with a poorly executed self-made livery.
My taste buds already received a heavy pounding looking at some pictures on this forum alone, I don't ask for these options to be removed since I enjoy using them myself, albeit in a more subtle manner.
I'd love a livery editor purely for the sake of using it myself and hopefully seeing plenty of talent or at least well-intended creations appear online or on this forum.
There ofcourse will be even more distasteful/offensive (although I'm not easily offended myself) material but I've already gotten used seeing plenty of distasteful creations online right now.
If a livery editor appears, I'll prepare to enjoy using it, hopefully being stunned by seeing some real talent and laughing my arse off most of the time.
Classy? GT5 left that station a long time ago.

"putting hideous wheels on cars like the Lamborghini Miura or paint their Jaguar XJ13 in a bright matte?"

i though it was actually impossible to paint or change wheels at these cars...

Nope. I've seen a silver chrome XJ13 online once. It looked pretty nice but I wouldn't paint mine that color.

i've got actually two xj13, can't sell nor trade one. I though i could paint one for the fun but i can't get an access to the paint shop... :indiff:

I realy DO HOPE they will include the Livery Editor!!!!!!!

He will in the end. Fan pressure will make him.

He never wanted damage or DLC.

You really think he caved in? It took 1 year to get dlc....damage wasn't even regular damage. How hard do you think it is to do pre-baked damage? GT5 is on a blu-ray and ps3 is notorious for streaming. See uncharted 3.

I don't think Kaz will. He always said Gt5 was his vision. Livery is not.

I think the only reason why they didn't included a livery editor in GT5 was because they run out of time.

Dude, this is a report-worthy post, I'd cool off - and edit it - if I were you... just a heads up.

Anyhow, as others have remarked - why am I usually fashionably late to the parties around here? - this is going to be something major in many ways. Spec II in Prologue increased the content and features tremendously, and I expect some big changes and additions. I suggest the easily excited and impressionable ignore my wish list. ;)

Spec II
  • Massive increase of A-Spec and B-Spec events.
  • XP system overhaul, perhaps even deleted.
  • Improved bot A.I.
  • Comprehensive stat tracking database, including records for each race.
  • Possible DLC in the update, including a track or two, a number of cars, optional wheels for Standards, and other things.
  • The Paint Shop will now have a range of paints for sale! Imagine that. :D
  • Standards to have a cockpit view (black interior) with basic dashboard.
  • Adjustable driver views.
  • Additional bodykits, including those for a number of Standard cars.
  • Massive increase in Race Mod car list.
  • A basic Livery Editor.
  • Improved damage.
  • Improved physics, most noticeably Rally physics.
  • Improved Dealerships, Used Car lots and tuning options.
  • The classic tuning adjustments from previous Gran Turismo games return, with additional features including tuning saves.
  • Save in pits in any race.
  • Event Generator, both off and online, including prizes.
  • Massive overhaul of the online system with numerous additional features, Race Series Designer and Event Generator, leaderboards, sharing and selling system, and other goodies.
  • Improved Photo Mode.
  • Improved Course Maker.
  • Drag racing and Touge.
  • More more MORE! :dopey:

DLC
  • Tracks from all previous Gran Turismos offered, and will incorporate in single player offline games with included patches.
  • New tracks to include Dubai, Brands Hatch, Spa, Hockenheim and Batthurst, as well as American courses. Tracks will be themed to provide racing in different leagues such as DTM and BTCC.
  • Car packs such as Standard to Premium updates, Ferraris, Lamborghinis and other supercars, race cars, classics. Car packs will be large, 20 or more.
  • DLC will either be free or affordable. I expect some freebies.
Whew... hyping myself a bit much, but... who cares! Whatever it will be will be pure chewing satisfaction. :dopey:

And for a quick edit, I wouldn't expect dozens of tracks and hundreds of cars real soon. Remember, 6 man-months per car, up to 2 man-years per Premium track, so I'd expect the Gran Turismo Standard tracks to be offered in any numbers first, with a new Premium track here and there. And Standards to be converted to Premiums at an apparent snail's pace.

Sorry mate, but that is your wish list or the new features that will come on this update? Because i freaking love them, especially this: "Standards to have a cockpit view (black interior) with basic dashboard." 👍

Regarding the people still playing discussion, are there cold hard numbers posted anywhere? I suppose PD don't reveal the number of connections/online traffic?

Ok he put irregular damage in and it took him a year to bring DLC.

You have as much to go on as I do when you say Kaz won't add a livery editor.

I say he will.

Never played uncharted 3. What's that got to do with it?

I dont think so. GT4 has basic liveries. What i'm trying to say is kaz has always had some kind of issue defyling manufacturer cars. Especially when it comes to damage, or the livery thing. He probably just didnt like it.

Uncharted 3 does dynamic on the fly physics calculation by streaming data. They have a ship level that streams the outside enviroment and they treat the ship as different levels streaming each section at a time. Pre-baked damage involves swaping/streaming different parts or whole parts of a car on the fly. That requires lots of space.(Bluray)

Not sure what your trying to say.

Are you saying GT doesn't have damage or not?

I'm not tech minded so your uncharted dialogue is wasted on me.

Shift2 has damage though.

Well I still have more than 10 people regularly playing on my FR and I would say most people who use GTP do swell, still plenty of life on GT with or without the spec II update and DLC

What i am saying is GT5 has damage but you would really have to work hard to get it. Might as well not even be there. Casual people probably think it doesn't. On the other hand shift, burnout, need for speed, blur, nascar...you name a racing game, it probably has damage. So my question is....How hard do you think damage is to implement( I mean the same damage as everyone else)

Probably as difficult as others found it.

Not sure how we got here.
I only mentioned how damage was implemented, when originally Kaz wasn't that bothered.

This is why I questioned you when you claimed Kaz doesn't want a livery editor.
Doesn't mean he won't do it.

Anyway you think GT won't have an editor.
I say otherwise.

Yes, i guess we can agree on that. Its just an opinion. But i think you are missing my point. Japanese games are influenced heavily by their director/creator. Their vision of the game is pretty much how the game is going to end up. GT5 doesn't even have a community manager and so does alot of other japanese games. Problem is tho, gt5 community is alot more vocal about stuff than lets say the zelda, mario, mgs, FF(maybe not here lol), DMC, ICO groups. I hope you get my point. Sorry for dragging it on.

Wasn't Livery Editor one of their goals in the GT HD feature list.

I am not sure that Mini Shot meant anything aside that there could have been a RM Mini but it appears to be too slow to compete :sly:

Edit:There it is

I don't think Kaz will. He always said Gt5 was his vision. Livery is not.

A vision isn't set in stone you know, it evolves (especially when new technology offers new possibilities), only a fool never changes his mind.
Remember that ModNationRacers video featuring Kaz before GT5 was released where he said he was very interested in user created content?
Ofcourse he will implement it in a way he sees fit, and listening to the consumers who desire such a thing may have persuaded him to think about it, that isn't the same as blindly following a suggestion without consideration to his original vision and where it might fit in, or how.

It's one thing having a vision, the fact he needs to sell that vision in significant numbers (unlike a lot of artists) makes that he can't afford to totally disregard the wishes or desires of the consumers (since GT5 is a product aimed to sell), given that they are reasonable and appropriate within the context of GT.

Oh wow, i recede my comment then. LOL never seen that. PD did pretty well then i might add 👍

Didn't do ......not yet anyway. But this may give us a hint on what we may expect.

Although I think Kaz said Livery Editor is Probably a feature for future GT titles.

Strange how They didn't mention this at TGS

Hi guys.

I won´t mind a Livery Editor, but the "problem" resides in that within in a week, or less, you´ll have online lobbies full of "RX-Penis" and "GT-Balls-R" and "you-know-what". Just like in any other game wich have the option....

If it came in the patch, it´ll have to have a limited range of customization, and there you have another "flame-war"....
