Try cleaning your disc. My copy of GT started to take a while for the main menus to load a while back, but a simple wipe of the disc put everything back to normal.

I woudnt like to try that @_@.I have to open the ps3 for that right :x?

Yes you do. You could try another game then to see if it works. If another game works fine, then its not your Blu-ray reader and you can then eliminate that as the problem. You could also try a Blu-ray movie. If another game or movie won't work, then it is indeed your blu-ray reader that is the problem. There are blu-ray lens cleaners that you can buy where you just stick the disc in and it cleans it, but I like to be thourough and clean the lens manually.

Do they sell those Blu-Rey cleaning discs?

It's a normal disc with bristles and brushes on that you can play and it effectively dusts your laser.

I remember those for cd/dvd drives. It seems they do exist for Blu-Ray as well.

One second I will post a step by step on how to use the self clean on the PS3. Confirmed it still works. Last week my friend's PS3 wasn't reading disc's at all. Then had him try it, and it fixed it.

READ THEN FOLLOW EVERY STEP DO NOT SKIP STEPS!!!
Fat model PS3s
1. Take any USBs flash drives and disc out of the ps3 then turn the ps3 off.
2.Then flip power switch on the back
3. Then hold your finger on the EJECT button and while holding your finger on the eject button flip the power switch.
On a slim model PS3.
1. Take your USBs and disc out of the ps3 and turn it off.
2. Then unplug the cord.
3. Then press and hold the eject button down and plug it back in while holding your finger on that button.
4. (last step for both PS3s)
The fan will review really high for about 30 seconds and the system may beep a couple times (i have a fat model and it does it should on the slim but i am not sure) after the fan stops flip the switch on the back of the ps3 (fat model) or unplug and plug ps3 back in (slim model) then turn system on like normal.

Here's a video of the same thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THgb76CfVao&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Never heard of that before and don't see how that will clean the lens.

Sounds like black magic to me! :D
Hahahaha instantly thought of the Rick James episode of Dave Chappell.
It is something that Sony actually had me do once on my PS3 a long time ago. Just like the safe mode menu. They had me do that once. I recommend it all the time now. My fatty is still alive too (4 and a half years old, still running great)

Ummm when it does this fan rev it will rev the blue ray drive too. Trust me I do it about once a month to keep my PS3 running smooth. Also I have had a few friends do it and it helped their PS3 read blue rays again. Like i said as of last week it still worked.

Found a video if the step by step is confusing. Also you can see what I talking about.

I'll add the video to my copy paste it guess too. :)

Take a look. I recommend doing it every so often (once a month maybe).

Hope it fixed your problem. If not maybe it is the disc itself.

Just letting you know THIS WILL NOT VOID ANY WARRANTY, but taking it apart will.

That is just a fan test, not a self cleaning method. All that is doing is blowing the dust around inside of your PS3 and will cause you more harm than good. I had to think about this for a minute but now I know what you are talking about now. The fan sits on the left side of the unit and is meant for cooling only. All you are doing is raising the fan speed when you do that. The blu-ray drive is on the right side of the unit therefore the fan is doing nothing for the blu-ray lens. Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

EDIT: Just watched the video. It MAY blow out what dust is inside, but it is in no way cleaning the lens. Sorry, but my advice would be to use one of the two methods I described if you want to thorourly clean the lens.

Watch the video. I am telling you this works I can even have my friend come post on here to tell you it does.

When it does this it turns the blue ray drive on and revs it up too (indicated by the flashing light on the blue ray drive indicator). Trust me there isn't any problem in doing this. I have been doing this for years, like i said my fatty is still going strong. Trust me it doesn't hurt it at all.

I watched the video and understand the concept. You are in a sense creating a friggin' catagory 5 hurricane inside of your PS3  just stirring the dust around and maybe perhaps blowing any loose dust off the lens. But if you want to properly clean the lens of all residue, you are going to have to use a Q-Tip and rubbing alchohol. Your method may have worked, but it won't work all the time, especially for people who smoke or allow smoking by their unit.

Hahahaha, look out it is hurricane Katrina and her twin sandy.

I agree. It doesn't work all the time. I do recommend doing the self clean method if you don't want to take it apart/if under warranty. If it continues to not read properly and is under warranty send it in. If it is not under warranty, use CargoRat's method (which is ideal and works)

Good enough.👍 Nice to have had this pleasant discussion/debate with you my friend. Your way may indeed work in a pinch, I'll agree to that. I'm just anal when it comes to cleaning things, thats all. My friends always said that I would make someone a good wife one day because of my cleanliness. Yea well, whatever.

Ah no problem. Yeah I never feel the need to be irate with someone in a discussion, no point or information gets across doing that :).
That's funny. Yeah I am the same way. I had tried it on one of my older PS3s (before it died in a really bad storm but the other one was off), so i thought testing it on one I never used would be a good idea. It worked so i always trusted that method. Like you said it sounds stupid but it works in certain situations. I have heard people recommending a vacuum before, I am always like O_o static warning haha.

But yeah sometimes being anal is a good thing. Some people think I am crazy for taking my PS3's top cover off and cleaning the dust off the top of the circuit board with a cue tip. Or like when I wash my hands before using my G27. All of these things keep my equipment in good condition. So no harm in being anal ;)

Ugh.. i woudnt care much about this problem, but it wont let me play route x,and thats annoying...I cant believe nobody has a solution to this :(..
