GT5:TT Expired?

Ok, this may be old news and I just missed it but got on tonight to play with the new physics engine and got "this content has expired and can no longer be used."
WTF
This is ridiculous. Push back the game indefinitely and then don't even let us get to play with the only demo of the new physics we have. Wow.
Sorry, I'm just a little pee'd off right now as I just ordered GTR Evolution tonight and guess what. One of the DLL files for the Logitech Profile now will not work. So it will not open. I uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times. I even did a system restore point back before I had originally installed it and tried it again, with no luck. So as of now I've been sitting here trying to mess with this thing all night and no real seat time. This is why I stopped playing games on the PC!!! If it's not that your system is out of date then something always goes wrong. I'm tired of it. Yes, the wheel still works but I have no control over any of it. So I'm stuck on 300 degree rotation and my pedals are on the same axis.

So, anyways, you can see my frustration when I get on the PS3 to play with some challenging physics only to find that it too has been removed. This has not been a good day. Oh, and to top it off, for some reason the back button on IE no longer works on this site. Whatever.
 
Just found some posts in another thread stating that it had closed a while back. Guess I been playing too much of the GTR demo to catch that. Oh well, I just had to vent. Mods you are more than welcome to delete this thread.
 
Hope they give us a new demo or something. The wait is killing me and after playing GT Academy Prologue feels outdated.

i had the same problem when i bought GTR2 and when i tried to install the driver for my logitech g25 it wouldnt detect it or something. then i went to logitech's website and downloaded the latest drivers for windows 7 and it worked... :)

and also with the TT demo it worked for me last time i tried it.. it said that this demo is expired the your times will not count or something but i could actually play the demo which was good.

Try in again now and you'll be greeted with a different message. The "demo" has properly expired and is no longer playable. Good job really, because I was getting bored of the same car and track.
 
Well you could play GT HD..that is if you can find a PSN download list that has it in there.
 
Playing GT HD feels like your going back to GT4 :lol: I hope they release a proper demo that EVERYONE can play, so the public wont cry about it being too hard. Even a Suzuki Cappuccino and Tsukuba Circuit is good enough. :lol:

The trial said, on the very first screen, that it will be expiring on th e25th of february. Did you not see that?
 
Really? I tried the demo last week and though it had a "This competition has expired your time won't be uploaded...bla...bla...yadda...yadda" sign after every selection menu, it worked. As for GT:HD, I can't say since I haven't been able to try it when I try to open it it says "This can't be done due to your your graphical settings", do you guys know if it's for HDTVs only?
 
Makes sense. The TT Demo was apparently intrinsicly linked with the online servers (you couldn't play it without), and they wanted to turn them off and use them for something else.

Bad for us though.

Something else? Like a new Demo? Probably not, although i find it a bit strange to hear it isn't playable anymore.
Granted, its job was done, GT-Academy winners selected and the new physics engine shown, but still. :confused:
 
I don't mind that they switched off the online time tables, but making the demo itself unplayable makes no sense to me whatsoever. It's no additional work for them to leave us to play with it.
 
Suppose it'll save some space on my hard drive anyway! I do hope they put out another demo though. As someone said above, even just another one car/one track demo just to keep people happy.

The demo needed a online connection if i remember correctly, so it wouldnt work without the servers anyway.

Agreed, but technically there is no need for being online when playing the demo. All the content is there, they just need to enable the demo to work without a connection. No big deal, and everybody's happy. Some people might mock the demo for being limited to two cars and one track, but that's still better than having nothing at all. :)
 
That depends on how its structure was programmed, on the other hand, they couldve thought about that from the beginning.

Mine worked fine offline. It only needed internet for timing. I think.

The point of the TT was to get the best of the best for GTAcademy. That was the main point. Once that was finished they pulled it. Just look at it as a "public beta". Once they had what they needed they pulled it.

No connection, although I don't know if it went down after entering the demo. As far as I know nothing was hosted on servers.
 
My PSN connection once died during playing the demo as well. I was able to continue with no problem whatsoever, later the demo just reconnected and updated my laptimes. It may be that you can not enter the demo when you're not logged onto the PSN, but they could have solved this better with ease. It's almost like they're not aware we are grabbing every straw here that is even remotely connected to GT5.

So if i understand this properly, the only way to get the TT Demo again, is if someone logs on your account (?!) and downloads it for you? I'm really confused about how i go about downloading the TT demo (i did not download it originally).

No, the demo expired. Nobody can download it since january 24th, nobody can play it since february 24th.
 
This is good thing because it tells that PD feels that academy demo does not represent the full game's physics, graphics etc.

What do you mean i thought the physics when the trial came out was praised by most members.
