Yes. Yes, I do. Otherwise, why go to the effort of building a new rendering engine?
 
On those GT6 Autumn Ring Pics the sky looks like it does on GT5's tracks with time change option.
Would be great if all tracks had this option.

Exactly the point I was making. It has the dotted clouds like the day/night change and pretty much all non time change tracks have perfectly clean skyboxes with clouds. Also with the lower res track textures, someone pointed that it could mean rain. Considering the demo says all of the track conditions, I think they will push it all on every track. Might be one of the Q&A questions, we'll see.
 
The gauges don't appear to be ask dark in GT6, though I'll need to see more interior gameplay to confirm this.
 
Just as expected, looks pretty much like GT5, but it does seem like they've fixed the most obvious graphical issues - shadows, smoke.... I just hope they don't tone down the graphical quality like they did for GT5 (Prologue looked better).

And I don't see why some of you are comparing the premium cars, it's obvious that they are the same model, they will just be carried over (the same happened with models from GT1-2 and GT3-4) to GT6 and future games.

I think it turns solid because it's getting within the range of a pure clean shadow render, the further items get the lower detail they get to save memory/FPS. It is banking towards the camera. Albeit the shadows look smoother overall. The renderer could do that possibly.

Still, looks a million times better than GT5's flickery and jagged excuse for shadows.

The same car, two different games. The Nissan 370Z GT Academy Edition is the car. Yes, one is orange and the other blue, but it's close enough! :)

The first screenshot is from GT5, the second from GT6. Notice anything different?

Are you sure the top shot is from GT5...?

I don't remember seeing that background anywhere in the game.

Edit: nevermind. I see it's used in promo material for GT5.

The actual picture is not from GT5, it's a render by PD of a car that is featured in GT5. That background is the standard scene which they use when they release pictures of new cars.
 
Looking at those 2 pictures I see no improvement, both look awesome. I don't think graphics (aside from standard and poor shadows) was ever really an issue with GT5, for a PS3 game they were always a cut above anything else.

Also, those two pictures are very limited. They show a single game object in an empty world. If there are differences in the depth of the picture we can't see that in those pictures. The pictures are static snapshot renders, they are not in-game pictures in motion, so we won't be able to spot any differences there. A single rendered image can be done with the highest quality, but when you're outputting 60 frames per second obviously the quality is dropped (just take a look at photomode in GT5, making a snapshot doesn't take 1/60th of a second, you have to wait for quite a few seconds before the image is done).

A static render gives a very limited insight in how the graphics change from one game to the next. What matters is how it looks in the game and in motion, and I believe that there will be more noticeable changes once we have videos to compare.
 
When it comes to fluid and life like movements/replays on track I always thought GT5 was the best out there, but those improvements in the GIF above are noticeable and welcome, but again I do get the feeling Kaz has focussed on improving a lot of the already strong points of the game, while some of the weaker points may remain.
 
That Gif is the reason why we need slow motion option during replay ,plus addition of filters like GT4 will be welcome .

Slow motion would be sweet! And some sort of replay editor where you can cut and edit the replays (and export to Youtube :D). Driver 2 (if anyone remember that old PS1 game) had a replay editor where you had a lot of freedom in positioning the camera etc. if I'm not mistaken.

I think replay editor would probably be a must next gen .

The only thing I can see is that the translucence of windows and headlights is different. Or perhaps it's the reflective value that's been toned down slightly.
The gif also got a certain metallic texture in the paint, but that's not visible on the original picture :P

Probably, especially with that share feature. But it was also possible on the original PlayStation, so it should be doable for the PS3 as well.
 
It was always going to be more of basically the same if it was a PS3 game and personally I'm ok with that, GT5 at it's best looked pretty damn good and it looks like they've fixed the biggest issues, jaggy shadows. The elephant in the room of course though is the standard cars and tracks, hopefully they are mostly gone but I somehow doubt it.

Weather and day/night on all tracks is also a must, it should have been on GT5.

The Movie Maker had to be scrapped for GT5 because PS3 doesn't have enough ram, and that's not going to change. Maybe they can make something happen, but even Forza 4 can't capitalize on the 360's unified memory to render more than a replay segment, so I'm thinking this is another reason the real Gran Turismo sequel will be on PS4.

Anyway, I'm hoping that the two example shots of the 370Z are evidence of upgraded paint graphics, because the metallic effects in GT5 are okay, but really could stand improving. Yet another reason I want GT on PS4 very badly.
