Everybody seems to want to fix online problems, but what about offline. GT got its start offline, and thats how I like to play. So AI has always been a concern for me and GT5P has got to be the worse AI of the fanchise, so now I'm worried. In previous titles you could learn the lines of the AI and avoid them, now they just run off the track, come back on, then hit you. If you don't spin out, you will most likely get a penalty. Now i'm sure they will do away with the penalties, for the most part, but fix the AI, I don't know. Kaz has talked about how they improved the AI, but I can't see it. Members keep saying its "Prologue" and not a "demo" so is this what we have to look forward too?

It's certainly annoying when they go off road and come back on into your side. It's also annoying when you get a penalty for them hitting you. What annoys me the most is that they sometimes seem to be able to drive off the track as fast as on it. Whereas, I can't get any grip or speed!

Is it worse than GT4? I'm not sure, just as I start to get annoyed I see a computer car do something smart and surprise me.

Certainly room for improvement though.

I liked playing the whole GT series offline up till now. (Had no choice really, but it was enjoyable.) Prologue just isn't deep enough for me to play offline and I intend to stick to the online play anyways. I don't think PD intended for us to delve to deeply in the offline aspect of the game anyways. It is a demo at this point.

Hopefully PD listen to the opinions of the various GT5 community's and make proper adjustments to the game so it will be a mostly enjoyable experience. Although I don't care for a lot of things they did in Prologue, I really can't see them releasing a crummy full-version game. Plus, they can't please everyone.

Graphically I don't think there'll much if any difference, I just hope they; fix the penalty system bring in weather. Custom music use would be nice. I'm sure they are using Prologue as a sort of 'beta' release, maybe they'll take note of some of the suggestions online GT communities are throwing out there.

That would be nice. 👍

I'd much rather have A.I. who make mistakes, even if those mistakes lead to you getting penalized, than predictable A.I. who seem to exist in a world of their own. Cars running off track then spearing back on and hitting you happens in real life (Paul Tracy is a good example of that) so should happen in Gran Turismo.

The "rubber band" AI of previous GT incarnations was one of the most abominable features of any driving game IMO. I find it reassuring that they have at least attempted to correct that by having major AI mistakes, wipeouts and avoidance tactics... to some degree anyway.

That isn't to say that I am 100% happy with it so far, the penalty system is mind bogglingly idiotic for instance.... but I agree that there should be somewhat more emphasis on the offline features rather than just the multiplayer; online racing can be fun... if you aren't in a demolition derby populated by indiscriminate kill-joys that is.

When you get fed up of sitting spinning your wheels in the sand, it'd be nice to know you can log off and get some decent challenges in the privacy of your own game.

+1. I've no interest in racing the AI from the previous games - I've played and enjoyed all GTs so far but more for the collecting cars and driving experience, racing the AI has never been whats drawn me in.

I mostly play online at the mo - regardless of the odd bad racer, it's so much more exciting and challenging racing real people.

And to the OP, Prologue *is* a demo. All prologue really means is introduction - they are introducing us to the physics, graphics and online modes that we'll see in the full game, bigger and better.

People complain about the dumb penalties, but if they fix the root of the problem (for most) then the penalties shouldn't be a problem. AI running off the track every lap, speed back to the track and hit you is not realistic. AI using your bumper to slow down every lap is not realistic. These drivers would be kick off the track in a heartbeat. GT4 AI wreck percentage is around two percent, yet GT5P is about 98% (in my own figuring). If you don't believe me then try your next race to hang back and just watch the carnage. I don't want to see damage if this is how the AI will drive. All I want is clean racing (for good replays).

I think that the AI in GT5:P is much improved over the other games in the series. In GT4, for example, the AI ignored you completely and would ram you if your car was in its racing line. In GT5:P, the AI will give you the racing line on straightaways if you're going faster. Also, when AI cars run off the track (on Suzuka and Fuji at least), they will often (but not always) wait until it is safe to come back on to the track. I've also been frustrated by the weird penalties that AI has caused me to get, but in my opinion, this AI is much better than it used to be.

I agree with 91hondawagon, the AI is much improved. Took 'em long enough.
It now runs a more consistent pace. With qualifying and a suitable car, it could offer a fun and challenging race.

honestly, i dont see the point of racing the AI when you can race real people. i played GT for the sole purpose of perfecting lap times because there was no online and now we have the opportunity to race online so i will stick to online play.
