GT5P physics bug / mistake

Hey, anyone else notice the suspension physics are wrong?

When you make it to S-Class you can begin tuning your vehicles.

The spring stiffness adjustments result in the opposite effect of what they should do in real life.

e.g. (real life)

If you want more over-steer you would:

Soften front springs
Stiffen rear springs

If you want to correct for over-steer you would:

Stiffen front springs
Soften rear springs

However the game results in the opposite effect.

oopsy?

Kinda makes you question the rest of the adjustments effectiveness.

not sure if that is tue at all. maybe you are experiences the difference when you do a time trial. when you do a time trial all the settings go back to default. don't know why it does this but it's only time trials, not drift or anything else. what i did notice was that there is no adjustments for stabilizer bars. wierd...
 
Seems to working just fine with me. I did a setup for an integra and evo 9 with a bit of over steer, and a 350z with a bit of under steer.

Look at damper settings as well, and the car height for more weight transfer.

just my thoughts.
 
Fairly sure it's the right way round. LFS works the same way so I assume it's correct. don't know for sure though it sort of makes sense.

If you soften the rear suspension, you are allowing it to compress more under accelaration, therefore transferring more weight to the rear wheels, but if you stiffen them it will make the car more prone to power on oversteer. I assume that it is more complex than this, especially when you factor in stuff like toe angle and camber, but that is the theory i've been working with and seems to work for me.

These adjustments don't result in simple hard characteristics in real life. In theory, softening the front and stiffening the rear should result in oversteer because the front is allowed more give on the surface and the rear isn't.

However, softening the front also dulls the steering response, so if you're turning into a corner at speed expecting the rear to break away, it won't, because the steering isn't making enough of an impact on where the nose is heading, and it will feel like the car is understeering. You need to adjust your technique to take this into account, and go slightly slower into the corner. If the rest of the settings are correctly done then you should be able to use the extra front grip and reduced rear grip to accelerate out of the corner earlier.
