Whit the PS4 announced and if GT6 get released "soon". I am wondering. How many Iracers will buy the game?

I have always have been fan of GT and have/had all the games. Thats why i have come here in the first place. I have no doubts GT6 will be awesome in there own way. I like to look at all those HD cars. I kinda like it. But i am not sure anymore now i play Iracing.

Since 1995 or so i have played all F1 games released on video game consoles. and all GT games. But after signing up on Iracing. I didn't touch GT5anymore and litterly played F1 2012 a few days. NFS, dirt and other racing games doens't give me any intrest.

When i was playing GT5, i could not wait for GT6. Now it may come rather later instaed of tomorrow. Should i buy or should i go. I really am not sure.

I was wondering you people feel the same...or not?

I doubt I will ever buy a console racer again unless they put alot of work into an online structure that makes it competitive. I love the iRacing format and can't really see anything being close to it unless they copy it.

I will, big fan of the GT series and I had a blast with GT5 before moving onto iRacing.

100% where I'm at with GT5 right now. Great game, lots to do, but the online sucks which is really the most important part to me.

For lots of other reasons I imagine I'll be grabbing GT6 for sure, but for online racing it's iRacing all the way.

I doubt I'll pick it up, I've been a GT fan sinse GT1 but GT5 left such a bad taste I doubt I'll buy a new console to for GT6. Specially with Assetto Corsa wich feels and drives amazing BTW so close to release.

I've had really great online experiences with GT5 and GT5P. Unfortunately, when I moved back west and had kids it has become much harder to race with them. Now I've invested in a triple screen computer system and my wheel, shifter and pedals are different brands. It will make it hard to go back to GT. If GT6 is released on the PS3, I'll probably end up getting it but I'm not sure how much time I'll spend on it.

If it is released on PS3 I'll personally fly to Japan and slap all the sony/PD execs myself.
GT5 really showed the PS3's limitations so I can't imagine (and really don't want to believe) they had ever planned for it to be released for the current platform.

I doubt I'll get it, or a ps4/720. No games on consoles interest me anymore (except GTA). Wasn't a fan of online racing until iRacing, only liked the career modes. IRacing is like the ultimate career mode, and I've never wanted to play anything else since I started it

So true...
One thing I hope is that with such a powerful machine as they're selling the PS4 to be developers do everything necessary to support triple screens on a single console, there is absolutely no excuse not to when any 100-150 dollar ATI video card runs trips fine on moderate settings!

Ill be open minded and look into the PS4 and GT6, but at this point i feel like i would be taking a step backwards. I just dont see a console giving people a real sim like iRacing, there isnt a market out there for true simulation. Polyphony would make so much more money if they catered to a casual fan base and offer quantity rather than quality.

With how my love for sims has evolved over time, I'd have to say that the PS4 is no longer a guaranteed buy for me due to GT6, like the PS3 was for GT5 at some point. If I decide to buy a PS4 it will be a combination of GT6 plus the amount of apps available it. I doubt I'll be able to game as much as I did my PS3 back in the day to warrant its purchase.

It's a great question that I've been thinking a lot about lately. The only time I turn on the PS3 and GT5 is to do an update and check the online dealership to make sure I have every car in my garage (it's the geek in me).

When I need to fill the bank back up I'll do a seasonal time trial with my controller, just so I don't get my brain goofed up with the different physics and having to re-adapt back to iRacing with my wheel and pedals.

I turn the PS3 on maybe a half hour a month to do these things. So I guess at this point, unless they release something epic with GT6, I'll be sticking with iRacing and using the money I'm saving on not purchasing a PS4 on triple screens. The sad thing is GT6 may be the first GT that I'll not own; but I just don't have the time and funds to spread between the two sims. :indiff:

For the things I look for in a racing game/sim, iRacing beat GT5 so badly I haven't played GT5 once since getting trying iRacing. Sims have always thrived on the PC, so I don't see this changing anytime soon.

I'll likely have a PS4 for games like MGS5, in which case I'll give GT6 a whirl to see how much they improve. In other words, I'll try it out but don't expect to play it for long.

I've thought about this. It will be capable for 4K so it should be capable for triples. However having 3hdmi outputs to the system would probably not be cost effective for the very small percentage of ps4 owners who would use it. Some sort of aftermarket device to split a single hdmi signal to three screens should be possible (like Matrox's triplehead2go). Matrox's solution is $300 so it doesn't sound very cost effective for gamers and it would have to be supported by the game. So while it should be capable to do triple screens, I doubt that it ever will.

It won't play games at 4k, only movies, vids, etc. Regardless, triple screen out of 1 console would be outstanding 👍
A shot of the system could hold a clue. For graphics processing like that the case would need to be big enough to fit a serious cooling fan system.

This. GT6 would have to be unbelievable for me to even bother picking it up. I seriously doubt it will be.

I told myself I wasn't going to buy a PS3 on release and only lasted a day before I went and got one
Now I have my triple screen PC setup I'll have no need to get a PS4 and GT6 on release but no doubt I'll end up getting both eventually, Playstation and Gran Turismo have been part of my life for a long time now so it wouldn't feel right to fully turn my back on them.

Actually, right about now is when my decision to jump into iRacing pays off. One of my arguments was to myself (after I did a $5 1 month sub) was when the PS4 is released I will have absolutely no need for it and therefore save me money in the long run by buying a few hundred dollars worth of iRacing content. Now I feel that the only reason to buy a console anymore is either because of the controller type or console specific games (of which I have no attachment to) because the next gen consoles seem to be so open ended they might as well be sold as PCs but with slight limitations.

When I got GT5, I told myself I'd go back and play NASCAR: Dirt to Daytona on the PS2.... It never happened. When I got into iRacing, I told myself that I'd go back and play BF3 and GT5 from time to time.... It never really happened, only enough times to count on one hand, shoot, Uncharted 3 is still in the wrapping, that might be worth money someday :sly:. I see a pattern still favoring iRacing...

I will more then likely pass on GT6, if it is anything like GT5 was, it won't be ready for another 5 or 6 years anyways. :D

As someone else mentioned Sim racing is all about online racing and all console racers, such as GT5 are free for all's

I play Race '07, which is a racing sim, but, only really offline. The online is good, too, but, I don't think there are more than a few 100 playing it.

I'm getting GT6, for sure, because of the community. No one does drift/rally/time-attack the same way in iRacing as in GT series. iRacing got boring really fast, with none of those things, except for a poorly-integrated Time Trials mode.

Don't tell me you got iRacing expecting to have drifting and rally

I was extremely dissapointed with GT5 physics, options, AI, and online pickup racing. At this time I am convinced that I will not buy a PS4 and GT6.

However, if the reviews indicate improved physics I will definitely reconsider.

At this time I am convinced that Assetto Corsa is the way to go. AC starts with the best, or one of the best, physics models and then dials it back by allowing users to put in driving aids for wheels and gamepads. I hope GT6 will follow this game model.

:)

I haven't followed AC that closely but am starting to hear a lot about it. Is it PC only or console too?

When is it expected to be released?

AC is supposed to be released "Spring 2013" It is pc only. When it is released it will be missing some features like weather and pitstops. Those will come later. If you have a copy of Netkar pro or want to spend 5euro on it, you can download the "Technology Preview" for AC.

I'm also really impressed with rFactor 2. Great physics from what I've seen so far. The skippy at limerock is amazing (I haven't driven the skippy on iracing).

My current problem with iRacing is that I don't really have the time to put into it. It takes me too long to be comfortable enough with a track/combo to race.

I got into iRacing during the wait for GT5 and now PC sims are my thing, mostly iRacing - GT doesn't do it for me any more. If GT6 comes out for the PS3 I'll buy it because it is GT. If GT6 comes out for the PS4, I wont be buying it as I'm not planning on buying a PS4 - at least not until it has come down in price significantly if at all - I'd rather spend the money on my PC.

I should mention I have no interest in a PS4 and if GT6 is released for the PS4 I won't even consider it. PS3, as silly as that would be I will probably buy it, but only because I already have a PS3..

^ This. If they do release GT6 for PS3 I'll buy it for sure because I love the franchise, but I imagine or assume they'll wait for the PS4 unless they really need to extend some development time to get things "perfect".

Make a video of it man, because it looks like you might be going to Japan :)

 That's an expensive flight - I better be right :D
Of course, I'm banking on the fact that GT5 had tons of incorrect timelines and dates and information prior to release so I simply will not believe anything GT6 related until it is officially 100% confirmed. I have a (sony pr) pic somewhere of GT5 being released in March of the same year it came out (in November).

I've always maintained that GT5 was the largest "demo" in gaming history - to set up a brilliant GT6. I just can't see them still trying to fix GT5's problems without a greater goal in mind. From a financial perspective, it makes no sense to keep 'fixing' (attempting to fix makes more sense I suppose) the game at this point without applying the ideas and lessons learned to the next generation of game.
We are simply the guys supplying all the data they need for GT6. It's a data goldmine when you think about it, let's hope it pays off 👍
