They never fixed anything. They just made more bugs. Online was always impossible to drive whit 16. and Offline's AI never get fixed at all. The AI always stepped on there brakes for nothing. After played the first seasonal events i was hoping to get some real races. But they never came. You always had to start last to drive to first in a few laps. :guilty:
Untill i found a good league(ICGT500) for online racing at GT5. I was always slow there but i learned to drive for real. Going from Gamepad->DFGT->T500 and in the end i even learned to shift instead of using AT, which for reason always have been a major issue in my driving. Now i am a happy person. After the League died out i tried Iracing. I improved my skills and drive alot cleaner now. I think i stick whit Iracing for a while now. I think i will try GT6 anyway. I am to curious.

I doubt I'll pick it up, I've been a GT fan sinse GT1 but GT5 left such a bad taste I doubt I'll buy a new console to for GT6. Specially with Assetto Corsa wich feels and drives amazing BTW so close to release.
Same here. I have always been a multiconsole gamer but there are only a few reasons why I bought a PS3. Blu-ray, GT5, and a few exclusives. Mainly for blu-ray. GT5 was a massive disappointment at launch. The 80% standard cars in GT5 still kills the game for me to this day. Luckily I only rented GT5 then later received it as a christmas present. I would have been furious if I had paid full price for GT5 at launch. Kills me saying this as a long time GT fan but I have very little interrest in GT6 after what has happened to the series. So if the next xbox has a blu ray player (99% positive it will), I dont even think I will get a PS4 at all. I guess we will see. The next xbox announcement will pretty much make or break the PS4 for me. Blu-ray player will be a massive selling point for the next xbox.

I loved GT5 and will always love the GT series. I mean how can I not play the only racing game to feature such a huge array of tracks and cars?

Even now I've started on iRacing, I'll definitely pick up GT6 still though I'm probably going to play it with a pad...I can't stand trying to race in GT5 with the DFGT and such weak force feedback (as well as the inability to change the steering lock/angle). Hopefully GT6/PS4 makes better use of force feedback or at least allows you to increase it for the more hardcore.

Its like asking will I still play Wipeout or Ridge Racer after playing GT. Of course, if its a good game I'll play any game...especially racing games.

iRacing does not do everything and it particularly doesn't have much scope for variety or depth in cars. I particularly love the experience of driving Suzuki Cappucino's through to LMP and F1 cars. Feels like you've lived and experienced things together with each car in the garage, etc.

I'll have iRacing for my serious competitive racing kicks and test of ability. But GT6 will be where I go for my casual racing fix and love for cars in general. I also can't turn my back on the GTP community, I've had a lot of good fun races over the years in GT. While I've had fun races in iRacing..its a little too serious most of the time. Sometimes its nice to have some paint-trading racing without severe penalties (I'm not talking punting..but light knocks and slightly more aggressive overtaking).

I'm banking on the fact that GT5 had tons of incorrect timelines and dates and information prior to release so I simply will not believe anything GT6 related until it is officially 100% confirmed.

In GT5's defense, there weren't any "tons" of dates. There were only 3 official dates, the third of which was only a few days apart and it was due to production issues.

The first officially announced date was March 2010, then it was announced that it would not meet this deadline and that it would instead be released on November 2nd, 2010. When that date came closer, there were some production line issues with the game, which pushed the date a mere 22 days to November 24th.

So no, I wouldn't call them "tons". It is unfair to reference unofficial dates since anyone can come up with those.

That's still 8-9 months of anticipation plus time before when the first release date was announced

Yes, and I remember being as frustrated as anyone else. It sucked!

But calling them "tons" of dates isn't really accurate either. It's no big deal, I just wanted to clarify because it's not the first time I've seen similar posts. The wait seemed like forever, and all those speculations threads and articles made it feel as if all the dates out there were bogus, but the fact of the matter remains that there were only 3 official dates, two of them separated by 22 days.

You've essentially mis-quoted me though.

I recall Kaz saying the game was finished (well before release) and that it was Sony holding the date back. Turns out it wasnt true. The game was not finished - even when released. Kaz also said that there would be no updates to the finished game.. it would be the finished product. Also not true. A sony exec claimed CART was included - it wasn't - perhaps he meant 'karting' but he was pretty specific IIRC. 16 drivers online with mics - nope - and that's on the box.
I don't ever believe unofficial discussions regarding releases, but in the case of the GT franchise I almost don't believe anything anymore until the game actually comes out.

LOL of course he had to mean Karting, what would you need a CART for in a driving game? Isn't a CART a vehicle designed for transport which is pulled by humans or animals?

But what ever happens to GT6, I will not buy it. I wasted to much money on GT5 already. But if it wasn't for GT5 I wouldn't be on iRacing today. So it did something good for me ;)

I bought the Playstation (the first one) and had Grand Turismo (the first one). Then I went back when when GT5 got out on the PS3.. I guess next GT game I buy is GT10 on PS6. If I'm still alive ;)

 Here's where my age shows a bit... CART = Championship Auto Racing Teams aka Indy Cars. They changed the name a while back but I have a habit of calling it that.

You said timelines and dates, that's what my response was aimed at mainly.
I understand that, but the three were presented / meant to be taken as a set.

Doesn't matter to me what platform GT6 is released on. I'm done with it. I'm just another sim race spoiled by iracing :D

I have owned all GTs and been devoted to the series from the start but those days are gone.

I haven't followed AC that closely but am starting to hear a lot about it. Is it PC only or console too?

When is it expected to be released?

AC is supposed to be released "Spring 2013" It is pc only. When it is released it will be missing some features like weather and pitstops. Those will come later. If you have a copy of Netkar pro or want to spend 5euro on it, you can download the "Technology Preview" for AC.

I'm also really impressed with rFactor 2. Great physics from what I've seen so far. The skippy at limerock is amazing (I haven't driven the skippy on iracing).

My current problem with iRacing is that I don't really have the time to put into it. It takes me too long to be comfortable enough with a track/combo to race.

As Zathra5 says above, AC is for PC only.

I took a detour into gaming consoles because of the potential cost savings over PCs. However, I quickly found out that PCs may cost more but they are much more flexible and open than consoles. I doubt we will ever see anything approaching the realism, flexibiliyt, complexity and depth of PC games that I enjoy, such as iRacing, AC, F4AF, DCS World, ArmA on any game console. pCARS is scheduled for consoles and PCs, yes? The graphics on the PC are simply beautiful and stunning. It will be interesting to see how far they can get into the realistic physics side.

👍 Some of the guys on the (GTPlanet) site have described pCars physics as 'arcadey' during testing so I really hope it works itself out. That title looks to have so much potential.
I was never into PC gaming prior to iRacing - everything was PS3 for me and it really became my gaming / entertainment hub (streaming movies, pics, etc.).
After having great experiences with iRacing (and adding a decent video card) I tried a couple of games on the PC that I had played on PS3 and was really impressed with the pc versions.

I can't say I'm siding entirely with one or the other at this point, but the GT series is the only game I play (well, used to - it's getting a bit dusty at this point) that is PS exclusive which would make it a pretty big investment simply for that game. I'm really interested to see what else the new console can do in order to make it more appealing overall.

Someone's signature on GTPlanet goes something like "I'm not a gamer, I'm a racer" and that pretty much sums me up as well. Racing on a PC simply cannot be beat at this point IMO.

I'll definitely buy it. I love iracing but it just doesn't have anywhere near the variety you can get with GT, plus iracing is severly lacking with road cars and I really like racing road cars. Plus the fact that iracing won't include the Nordschliefe, and that's a big deal to me. It's the best track on earth, I think every sim should have it. Plus iracing is just way too expensive. The prices of the cars and tracks are ridiculous

One of the very best console racers I had was CART "something something" anyways I think it was on the PS2? It was at the height of CART, probably 2 years before the end of CART. My memory isn't what it once was but I'm almost in my mid 50's now so I get a seniors discount. :D

iRacing is going to get better at road cars in years to come. iRacing does one thing good that no one else comes close to and that is online game play.

For me the DLC on GT5 is expensive when you compare the quality of the content to iRacing.
I love the Nordschliefe too but to be honest don't miss it on iRacing, plus if it was on iRacing I could see everyone being demoted back to D class within the first 2 weeks of it being released, there are alot of complaints about Spa being a safety rating killer, imagine the Nordschliefe damage

Was it Cart Fury Championship Racing?

If I'm not mistaken, at the 16 second mark in the second vid an F-15 swoops in and takes out an AI driver

Sure, but think of how much positive SR 1 clean lap would generate :D It would be like running 12+ clean laps at Watkins.

Whit the PS4 announced and if GT6 get released "soon". I am wondering. How many Iracers will buy the game?

I won't be.... GT5 was a 50/50 experience.... half the game I loved, half of the game I couldn't stand

I actually had less stress over GT4 .... gran turismo 4 was the most finished complete game in the gt series so far.... GT5 went off in a tandem in every direction and nothing is finished.

I suspect its like the Star Trek movies and all the odd numbers just suck ... I'm sure they will learn from their mistakes and GT6 will be the best GT yet..... but in terms of realism by the time it comes out it will still only be as realistic as iRacing was 2 years ago (and even that is unlikely) because even if the cars and physics catch up, the tracks not being laser scanned will hold it back... with games like Asseto Corso coming out even iRacing is going to be given a run for their money on realism... but not likely from a console game.... at-least not likely

mulitplayer though is where I really have issues with GT series.... if they add dedicated servers like BATTLEFIELD 3 (WHICH WORKS WONDERS ON PS3) ...and fixed crashing (not damage) but how cars react to collision/rubbing etc... so they're is some consequence, and my stats are kept... SO i Know where I really stand as a racer, not a drifter not a time trialer ..but a racer (Again Stats LIKE BF3 ON PS3) ....and it doesn't take a million e-mails and 2 hours of tuning cars and relying on the 'honor system' to run fair racing ----- then I'd really have to take a serious look.... otherwise, No.
