What does GT do for you.

It is obvious from this forum that to some GT is a passion. Waiting for the 1st to declare that they had completed GT6, the tension on here was palpable. So many people also want so many features added.

To me it is just a pastime. My wife and I will not see 70 again ,and anything that demands physical effort is beyond us. GT6 to me is just a way of escaping my wifes addiction to daytime Tv, cookery, antiques and property sales ad infinitum. I can go into my office, smoke a good cigar, and race a few cars round a few tracks. I have managed 2000 races so far, with 1800 wins.

Mind you I don't mind the cookery programmes she watches. She still makes the finest lemon drizzle cakes in the world.

Past time. Gran Turismo 5 use to be more of a passion. I was tuning transmissions vigourously for Route X haha

That was well stated and it warmed my heart. I haven't reached my mid-50's yet, but I know I'll pass 70 before I even know it. Life is too short to "grow up" and stop playing.

But "pastime?" My dad played Solitaire while waiting to die--for 25 years. Your race/win ratio suggests you're investing some life in this.

GT is not only a passion for me, but a burning passion....a fire fueled by the desire and determination to be the best there is. I eat, sleep and breathe everything GT, more directly, the art of time trialing. I play between 8-10 hours a day, either doing Seasonal TT's, WRS TT's, or practicing lapping a particular track on my own. And when I'm not playing, I'm reading....reading anything that pertains to going faster, anything that will help me perfect my craft. I also watch a lot of TT videos, again, anything that will help me. You see, God has handed me lemons, therefore I am making lemon-aid. ;) And I wouldn't have it any other way.

Passion up to GT4. GT5 onwards pastime. Thats cool nothing lasts for ever. My life has changed a lot snice 1997. HaHa.

Sim racing has been a passion of mine for some time, however, because of limited finances I'm restricted to doing it in Gran Turismo. That has lead to a love hate relationship with the series that continues to this day, & my ambivalence seems to be increasing with the release of GT6. I have a passion for racing with real people online, but GT6 with all it's bugs & issues has now become an obstacle to that. My sim racing passion continues, but the way I want to fulfill that passion is changing (P Cars & PS4), much to the dismay of my wallet! Maybe the community update will come & take me by surprise with awesome online clubs & loads of useable options, I'll have to wait & see. I spend 90% of my time racing online, mainly in Shuffle rooms in GT5, the other 10% is driving in Free Run for fun, whereas I loathe having to play Career Mode.

It's a pastime for me. Michigan winters are long and GT gives me something to look forward to. Once the weather clears my racing rig gets very little use. I'm 64 years old and think the game is amazing. All the crying and whining about what the game is lacking makes me think these people wouldn't have made it in the world of black & white TV with no remote. Proud to have lived in that era, and I embrace the new technologies, but people need to be less passionate about the GAME, and more passionate about life. Trust me, it moves faster than a Veyron on Route X.

You sir, are awesome! I know when I retire I'll be doing the same. The problem is it's a passion to me cause I still own every Gran Turismo they've made. I guess I just like to stay true to my roots lol.

8-10 hours? What do you do for a living?

Passion and Pastime for me. GT3 was the first GT game, and the first game I ever played on my at the time new PS2 =P Heck I still think 3 is the best of the series in terms of style and the amount of races, it's just such a charming game~ Now I'm at 6, and seeing the franchise expand to what it has now is really cool, plus 1200 cars to tool around with with a G27 is never a bad time :)

That's why I used the phrase, "God has handed me lemons, so I am making lemon-aid." ;) I didn't expect you to know what I meant by that, but there are a few here who do know my story, so that was more or less to them. :sly:

Now I know too. You are definitely using your 8-10 hours well. You are quick as 🤬. 👍

GT was always a pastime for me. In the face of other games that I grew up with, it's never truly stuck out. Yes, it's satisfying to take out the latest hypercar out for a spin or delve into the history of some classic legends, but in the end, you take Car X for some laps around Track Y, rinse and repeat.

Yes, competing in racing series on GTP keeps me logging into GT6, but at the end of the day, nothing gives that satsifying feeling of speeding down city streets at 250mph in Burnout Paradise and crashing in the most spectacular fashion, or taking in the depth of exploration in the world of GTA V, then running some other player over and machine gunning them to death.

Driving is a passion to me. i love it, i get paid todo it. So when i have had a hard day on the road, i like nothing more than to rag a car around on track. I have played GT also since the first one, but in GT6 this is the first time i have taken time to tune cars,my garage is looking phat. i find this forum really helpful , in fact its because of the forum i play more than ever.i also like that our mature friends play not just kids.it gives me hope that i can race more when my working life is done.

GT was only a passion until GT5, GT6 is just a passtime, let´s hope GT7 becomes a passion :D

Pasttime, no game instills true passion within me.

Although this game was one of the catalysts that ignited my passion for the Automobile and it's history.

Ah screw it, this game is a passion, especially the recent titles.

It's maybe half-passion, half-pasttime for me :)

GT3 was the first game I've ever played and I loved the game. I never got past the first two stage things lol, so I never unlocked Laguna Seca or anything, but the amount of cars and the realism really hooked me in :) My next GT was the 5th one, now I've got the 6th. I say it's half a passion because I absolutely love racing, but just before getting my DFGT and playing GT6 nonstop, I was addicted to Bioshock: Infinite and my career mode in Nascar: Dirt to Daytona! I know when I'm older, I'll definitely look back at these days and smile :)

I remember during this past summer, I spent the majority of the break playing GT5 from like 8pm till 4am, and getting up at 3pm the next morning to do it all again lol :)

I try my best on GT6 because I aspire to race alongside hardcore racers online, you can say that's my current passion. I live five minutes away from Downtown Los Angeles and my brother and I are probably the only Nascar fans in town. Even if I lived closer to the few racing tracks around us, I'm sure my family's monetary status would prevent me from trying out real racing, so GT6's my substitute :)

I was passionate about GT1-4. GT5 & 6 are past times. They're just missing something that I can't (haven't really tried to) put a finger on.
