GT6 slower than GT5? Or just me?

Ever since I started racing online, I noticed I was way off the pace everybody else was. This became especially apparent when racing NASCAR earlier today. Everybody lapped 44.x, while I was 46.x, even after changing oil.

I used to lap about 42.x on GT5, and reached about 350 km/h without draft. On GT6, I don't even reach 320.

Is there something wrong with the game? Or is it just me/my wheel?

Nascars are slower in GT6 than they were in GT5

On Daytona when running alone I could easily hit 224mph in the Nascar and in GT6 207 is the fastest I have saw without a draft. lap times in GT6 without drafting top out in the 43.xxx range and requires a very good tune to get below 44 seconds alone.

If that's true, then what about the other cars? I'm still slower than the rest in other races, even in one-makes. Also, during the race mentioned everyone caught up to me really quickly.

AI has super grippy tires. That's why you can catch them doing "stoppies" while braking on a crest. It's pretty bullcrap to be honest.

The only ones I have noticed that are slower are the Nascars. As for being slower that the other cars in the races, that depends on the cars you are driving vs the other cars. The only way they will be faster is if they are using a faster car, better tires, better tune, better driver.

The Nascars are definitely slower though I went back to GT5 to look at my setup to try and get a bit more speed out of the car on GT6, I ran a couple of laps in GT5 and was turning laps that were 2-3 seconds faster than in GT6 and 224mph vs 207mph.

Thus far these are the only cars I have noticed as being slower. Of course in career mode you would be slower now than in GT5 because GT5 had little to no restrictions on how much power you could have and allowed you to use RS tires in everything.

Also note that some Nascars are slower than others. I find that I am about 1/2 second faster in the 2010 #99 Ford than I am in the 2013 #99 Ford

Well then. Seems like the reason I'm slower is myself. I'll need insane amounts of practice and learn how to tune cars in order to get to the other's level.

Well another thing that will slow you down is if you are using ASM make sure that is turned off. It will kill your speed in the corners.

Which Nascar are you using? Are you using any downforce? What kind of gearing? These are all factors. So far the ones I have managed to turn the fastest laps in are the 2011 #43 Ford and the 2010 #48 Chevy

I use no assists when racing Nascar on ovals. I use the 2013 #24 Chevy, downforce all the way down, top speed is at 420 km/h (261 mph). I tuned the suspension after a tune in the directory.

You gearing is likely to high. Try this.
Assuming your final drive is at 3.000 and top speed at 261mph
Set 3rd gear to 1.150
Drag 1st and 2nd gear as far left as they will go
Drag 4th gear as far right as it will go
When running without a draft run the car in 3rd gear shift to 4th when in a draft and see how that works for you

I think it does feel faster. The Nascars are slower than on GT5 which is clear by looking at the speedo. The feel of the game is faster in GT6. Hitting 200+ mph on Nurburgring on GT6 is pretty intense :)

It's your transmission.

Shorten it, no nascar is gonna do 261mph especially on an oval.

Set it to about 220-225 top speed.
