Just got an HDMI cable over the weekend and tried it with GT6 today and GT6 looks AMAZING. The pictures I took before that I thought looked real look even more real. If you have GT6, an HDMI cable is a must have.
The only gripe I have about it is that I can't get the screen size like it was. Either the car is too small or the screen is too big.

First of all congratulations. Second of all there is an option in the display setting for "scaling", you'll want to adjust that so the complete picture fits your screen.. there shouldn't be anything cut off.

I'll try that tomorrow. Thanks!

 I had to check the date of the OP to see if this was from 2008. Sorry, I don't mean to make fun :).

Either way, I've only ever run HDMI from my PS3 so I have no comparison. I did have a Wii though, that was run through Component cables and looked like crap, so I can only imagine how much of a difference you see in the two.

HDMI is slightly more detailed than component. The key is your HDTV. If you are running a good plasma or LED the difference is stunning. But with any good quality set, component can look really good.👍

If you run your HDMI signal through a HT Receiver or pre amp, do your homework on the conversion capabilities.
Has to handle 1080p to 2048p and should be able to up convert 480/720 signals to the superior format.
This will help you broaden the list of HDTV's and source devices you can use.

The best part of HDMI is one cable is handling audio and video plus any sound format (Stereo DTS, Dolby Digital, 5.1, 7.1 etc.) you care to throw at it. More and more receivers and HDTV's are being manufactured without analog inputs and outputs. GT6 will process 7.1 surround, and it sounds 🤬 awesome.

 This is a tremendously debatable opinion. :p I have a 7.1 setup with what I'd call mid-range surround speakers and honestly the sound is barely better than what comes out of my two nice JBL front-towers in 2.0 (not taking into account the directional sound 'benifit').. when PD have sorted their sound engine with a full frequency at each channel nearing the rough, rugged and raw sound depth of real life cars, it may intrigue me to upgrade the surrounds to something that produces low-midrange much better.. something with a 6 1/2 in. woofer and larger cabinet will make all the difference over the 5 inch units I'm running.

I agree although room acustics play a part too. I am using Energy mains, Paradigm center polk side and Klicps rears.
The sound field is huge and involving especially with the lights dim. My sub is a 12 inch Velodyne.
The main speaker cones are 1inch tweeter and 6 inch. Center channel is 2x6 inch plus 1 inch tweeter.
The remainder of speakers are 1 inch/5inch.

Absolutely right, it's incredible how much you can clean up the sound in a room if you just mount acoustic 'traps' in the corners and parts of bare walls/ceiling to reduce sound reflection. I made up some stylish DIY ones, wood frames wrapped in a nice cloth marterial with cheap sound-deadning insulation behind it.. works like a charm. People always notice the 'warm dampened' sound in the room just when talking and stuff.

A major shock to the world economy is coming. (Get your money out of Lehman Brothers)
America finally elects a black American as president.
The War on Terror continues.
The rise of China continues.
No War on Iran.
The Mayan Calendar is......... just a calender.
NFL Superbowl XLVIII is won buy the Seattle Sea hawks.
Andy Murray wins Wimbledon 2013.
No Hover boards.

That's crazy cool man.
I'm building frames and trying to find the right size of corning fiber glass to DIY traps and deflectors.
I guess you listen to music too? I think GT4 and GT5 surround modes were the best in the series. Somewhere in GT5 PD dropped the ball on sound. They haven't found it yet.

Only a little joke.

PS3 launched in 2006/2007. That is when most gamers were introduced to HDMI. Xbox 360 originally supported Component only. I expanded on the fact you have just started using HDMI and are many years behind the rest of us.

Glad you think GT6 looks good. Try your other Playstation games in HD, Uncharted 2/3 ect.

Oh ya totally into music  got quite the collection of CD's, vinyl's plus mp3's galore..

I wasn't able to pinpoint the even worse quality of sound in GT6, to me it's the same stale sound we've had, but the surround bug where when you're beside other cars the volume levels of your own car drop down is still there, might be less frequent but still happens, kinda strange. But I'm not banking on the wish the sound engine will be overhauled and handed to us via update, it's just too much to ask for. I just hope we get 'next-gen' sound in GT7, if not it'll be a bad day for PD...

Oh boy.. now were you able to get that issue sorted with the picture fitting your screen?

There is even dropout in the sound field in the menu music.:irked: They do have issues. Every once in a while all the elements come together and the sound presentation just blows you away. Then you bump a car, and it all goes to hell in a hand basket.......LOL:lol:

Not my thread but just wondering why i dont get sound when i start the game but gets sound on the ps3 home screen? I have to unplug it then plug it back in.

No, but I've learned to live with it because I think things are the right size now and weren't with the AV cables.
