Here's the rub... let's face it, if B-spec weren't a way to grind for credits without actually driving, would anyone want it?

If PD came out with B-Spec, but the prize money couldn't buy you cars you could drive (say a separate B-Spec garage), would you put time into it, or work on your racing skills?

With sophy, definitely yes. That's the whole point of games such as F1 Manager and Motorsport Manager. Besides, they could include budget and regulatory constraints like Codemasters did with F1's Myteam.

It wouldn't take PDI much time to implement a better B-spec than in GT4-5-6, but apart from [skipping the boring part of] the credits grinding, only a small group of GT players would have fun with it. It could be used for testing tunes & cars on the margin. I would much rather have custom championships or complete custom career mode.

B-Spec involves AI so it depends on Sophy. Though I guess the practical function of grinding without credits shouldn't be thrown away, just that perhaps working on B-Spec like those manager games can give you better benefits.

You should have your own racing team and be able to hire other drivers, but the money made should be split with driver for their salary. What if some b spec races where wager races?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think there were some stats from way back in the day when B-Spec was running that showed very few playing it compared to driving their cars.

It just seems like a diversion of resources from a live driving game to develop an entirely DIFFERENT game of team management while many aspects of the core racing game need improving.

Even F1 simply had an entirely different game to do this, meaning F1's finances went towards improving the racing, and the money from the team manager game went to improving that one...
