Has anyone tried the BM against the GTR? I really like the Nissan but I feel there’s a little more speed hiding in the BM 😁

Don’t want to swap needlessly

This is absolutely fantastic telemetry software (iOS) with auto set up and PS connection and the ability to enable Pit Crew audio, really useful especially in VR
Bought this and looking forward to giving it a go tonight (vr). Fully expect the pit radio to tell me I need to go faster 🤣.

I also fully expect a major eye-rolling from the wife when she hears it. Not that I’ll be able to see of course, but I’ll know!

Don’t try using the Porsche at watkinsglen the understeer feels extremely over exaggerated it puts a real question mark on the physics of the game when a heavier longer wheel based car like the BMW can corner and brake later then a Porsche. The cornering ability of the Porsche is no where to be seen and the top speed was killed months ago. The Porsche should be a contender on this track but I feel it’s been nerfed so hard it very rarely it can compete in top split lobbies.

On a side note the controller just needs a buff to give more brake bias for stronger braking and a slight increase in available steering angle at higher speeds. You can’t take corners with the same speed and hold the same line because you have to wash off to much speed to hold the perfect line in some corners hence were the game is between controller and steering wheel. It’s about a 1 to 2 sec a lap difference based on my experience.
I did 4 races at Watkins Glen yesterday, 3 were won by a guy in a Porsche! (B/S lobbies) - don't know how he managed it though, I couldn't get the speed out of it...
This drives me insane. I SWEAR the game is rigged so that when you have an off you're in the most awkward position possible. I never just slowly ease back onto the track, i am ALWAYS facing a wall or backwards etc and need to futs about, losing gobs of time, so annoying.
Yes, I always seem to end up in an awkward position, and am usually in last place by the time I'm facing the right way again.

I went through the ghost of a car facing the wrong way at the top of the hill last week at Grand Valley - by the time I got to turn 1 he was on my tail! How he managed it I have no idea.

Back to Dailies after 3 weeks off! Found the racing to be a lot cleaner, this time around! Other than 1 driver, that didn't like to be passed, just dive-bombing his place back, I just watched people and figured out where to get by them at! Respectful racing at the Glen! However I've caused my own losses! Was on top split of B/S! But my pace is good! So I was doing great until, I wasn't! Great racing

Speaking of guys running off, the big downhill right hander at LM before the esses, RIGHT as you want to get on the power there is a little sort of rise, it is very subtle but it is there. I lost it in qualy a few times, too eager on the throttle. Come the aces and I saw about 5 guys in 2 races bin it there. So you dive right towards the sausage kerb, you now want to really lay on the throttle as it s uphill, there's a small rise, she gets light and aroooooooooooooooooooooound you go. Once you know it is there you account for it but seems a few blokes were caught out.

Quick trace at WG and the first part of the lap isn’t bad, this is a lap 1/10th off my PB

It doesnt look to bad till the last part of sector 3 where I had to feather abit. Also the start of sector 2 (bus stop my braking is really poor)

Mid 1.44s are the stretch goal but a .7 is definitely doable.

Edit: did a lap after reading the trace and thinking more about making sure I’m smoother and if that meant carrying less initial speed for the greater good so be it.

Have to say a positive result:

Optimum going good in to the 44s

A flat 45 is good for 433 in the world. I’ll take that!!!

Gr.2 is my favourite segment of racing cars in terms of FFB and the overall experience on VR.
However, this daily C is not a race.
What we have here is a procession of cars struggling in dirty air for 12 laps so I dont think I will be doing much more C races for this week.

I may jump to daily B but Im always scared of sprint races at WG.
Based on my previous experiences, bus stops and sprint races doesnt go well along but I will give it a try this night.

Ok watching the trace I was able to get in to the 1.44:8s

If you look at my 1.45:2 trace vs the 1.44.8 trace is just smoother and more positive braking/acceleration, I reduced transitions between the two and also picked a couple of better trail braking transition to acceleration rather than coast points

Slower lap:

How do you get those graphs?

But I would be afraid to show mine. It would probably look like a spider walking through ink.

I'm currently turning some practice laps in the Gr. 2 NSX at Maggiore in preparation of trying out the long form Race C for the first time.

Since I haven't had prior experience, especially with mandatory tires and/or pit stops, what general tips do some of you have that I can keep in mind to try and be productive with my races?

It’s the EzioDash Pro, if you keep swiping right you get different dashboards/traces.

I love the app for the data, I don’t do enough offline racing/strat racing to really need the engineer call outs but man the data post session is so much richer than that crappy session end GT7 screen

I'm thinking my old wired iphone buds beneath my Sony cans might work for the audio call outs. I purchased the app to give it a go. It will be interesting to see what my trace is.

Killer time by the way!

That’s what I do I have one headphone bud (wired) in my ear and my headphones over the top, but as I said it’s not really the engineer call outs I use it for even as I only play VR as well

I did a handful of quali laps in both. BMW is better over the curbs and has a little more front end bite for me, but you may find it different

I find the BMW just more floaty and relaxed and smoother to drive, the GTR seems to be busy all the time both viscerally and mechanically.

I think the beemer power delivery and weight is the thing that makes it quicker and easier to drive here.

I’m going to chuck some quail laps in now in the BM, it might be my driving style but I’ve not not had one twitch in the GTR yet,

Also, I tried to improve on my 1.46.2xx last night and didn’t manage to get close so something needs changing.

I think somehow how I planted it on the right hander after the chicane in 5th,

But let’s see

1.45.000 seriously 😤

Stay in 3rd for T1 and up the hill go smooth but gentle in 3rd and work up from there.

Don't improve your time too much, I've almost caught up. Had an optimum down in the 46.4 range but keep messing up turns 8 & 9

Tried the M6 again but still can't figure it out. Must be something about the gearing that doesn't suit my "unique" driving style .

Well, it’s official. I’m in the BM from here on in.

It’s a nice drive, @newmedia_dev could really do with you uploading your lap in flat screen to compare, use to improve.

Also guys, need some help with my questionable ending to this race, was a good one, really tense, but the end felt a little rough from my side, he left the door open and I kinda threw myself through it - 😬

But QT down to 1.45.899 with a tenth or so more in there. Sorry @Fezzik 😁

And a win from p4

Tough one but I am Ok with it because if you are defending and rather than picking lane (inside or outside), you decide to instead park it in the middle of the road, you do leave yourself open to a little bit of bargy to make a lane. TBH he should have dedicated to defending the inside line.

I'm lost. I'm busting my butt to stay in the 1:46 range. What are you doing? I can't turn the car unless I am crawling.

Now, I do want to lodge a complaint because I think PD nerfed the controllers in recent updates. The turning is PAINFULLY slow imho. That's fine if the user has set his sensitivity low, but I'm maxed and the car won't turn. I watch the little red dot slowly catch up to the input I am giving it. I realize it's meant to match what a steering wheel can do, but it's WAY too slow.

That said, I don't want to be a poor craftsman who blames his tools.

Watched the race. What a great drive not sure I’d of sent it up the inside on T2 (but taking 3rd in T1 👌)

Was just a good solid race mate, drama gets left at the exit door and entry door. Rough but not something I’d worry about.

I’ll do a lap later or tomorrow am and share it 👍
