I just learned this week that GT7 Daily races are split / matched PS4-to-PS4 and PS5-to-PS5...

Bummer, no wonder I've not been matched with friends as often as I like.

I am sure there's good technical reason this is, but I didn't know it before. Is it the same for GTWS Sport Races too, I wonder?

No the GTWS series races are mixed, and likely why they've had more problems with the lobbies.

If you're on PS5 you can see the PS4 players loading in as you wait.
 
So close to A-rating I can barely see the end of the progress bar! 🎉😁 I think just don't crash or lose places next race and will do it 🤞🏻

Well done, I don't know how you're doing it - I'm in B lobbies & am getting punted every race!

I suppose I should sort my quali so I'm not starting facing a wall, that would probably help!

Yes!!!! I did it 🎉🥳 started 5th and finished 2nd just 0.1 behind winner and clean race!

Mate I know it sounds obvious but go obsessive on your qualy time! You avoid so many donkeys when you start 5th or above! Load the ghost of the best driver using the car you like and just put in lap after lap after lap!

I've been racing again at Daytona last night. Same trouble maker as the night before showed up. He was punting multiple people off during the race and taking the cheat shortcut at the chicane. This time more people saw it, and of course the ones he punted all called him out. I added he did the same stuff the night before and now he's got a reputation... It won't be so easy for him tonight.

First this sweet victory, feels good to beat two A+ drivers. Close fun race.

Next race the troublemaker was in, he finished 3rd. I passed him while he was serving a penalty for punting HardHitter4 off.

The server is very unstable, half the races had starting issues. Either someone doesn't load and warm-up doesn't start, or it hangs a long time when formation is supposed to start. It cleared up each time, either by chucking half the people out of the room or after it finally gave up waiting for the one not loading or joining. Race starting 5 or 6 minutes late. Luckily that still leaves 2 minutes to join the next one.

Great night after the first couple races. Just one troublemaker later at night (was quite ugly when I started). I got my FL down to 1:30.729 with slipstream. Can do steady 1:31s without. DR still going up:

Left side is from my marathon run on Wednesday. The one negative DR is where my modem crashed.

Here are some outtakes from Wednesday's shenanigans at Daytona Road Course

The troublemaker is in there as well at the end, cutting the chicane and getting away with it. It seems random whether you get hit with a penalty there or not. Also in there I get the 0.5 sec while cutting far less than the car I'm following, both going same speed, but no penalty for the leading car. So inconsistent. Oh and the lovely 30 second penalty I had to serve for doing the right thing :lol:

2) All three of your races are in the 18:34s. Very consistent!
3) Where did you see that DR chart thing?
4) Are you on PS4? If you're on PS5 I'm surprised we've never raced; if you're on PS4 that would explain it.

Nice one!

I only lasted 6 races in A/S, I'm too slow, so started near the back every race with a 47.1, pole was mostly 2 seconds quicker. I've been back in B/S with a full bar since, maybe next week on a track without a death chicane!

I did join both Cups while in A, so will be in GT1 for the races.

1) It's been kind of my thing since 2018 when I stopped qualifying waiting for SR and the penalty system to get fixed...

4) Yeah I race on ps4 pro since I get connected to a better server on ps4. Both wired, I only get 3 bars on ps5, 5 bars on ps4 :/

I'll give ps5 another try tonight, kinda curious how I do against that crowd. I pretty much already know all the regulars for the race on ps4 lol. It's mostly the same people racing, which is a good thing since that forms mutual respect and you learn the patterns and behavior of the other drivers. Which leads to easier passes. Passing is much easier when drivers trust each other.

It's always the wildcards, people that show up for one race and disappear again, that have the troublemakers among them. Tonight I'll be the wildcard among the ps5 crowd :lol:

Yep! Similar experience. Hence why I posted "Grats. I want to go back down to B. haha" to your post above. That being said, it will make you a better driver... and when you get that first A win, it'll feel that much better!


That being said, got my 40th win today in a Daily C. The 787B is doing work.

It's so obvious when someone uses teh glitch to set a quali lap. My lap ain't anything to write home about (1:29.8X) but when someone comes in with a 1:27.0 it's quite apparent. The best part, they usually bin it or don't know how to drive. Every time - with the exception of once - that miracle quali lap pole sitter doesn't make it through lap 1 without going wide multiple times, going off, or just binning it. They either drop so far back they're completely off my radar or quit out.

The one exception is the guy started on pole got passed by me and someone else. He was able to keep third, when the other guy (who was in P2) spun with like two laps left. I ended up winning that one and glitch-guy got second. This is atypical, though. I don't mind when I see someone with a glitch quali lap as I know it'll be an easy pass.

As much as it pains me to change the livery on the 787, I have to for these races just to look different. I'll change it back when this week's Dailies are over.

After 25 races, we finally got the 2nd lane train going for just over a full lap in that last race, 2 wide, 4 deep! We also ended up 3 wide and 2 deep at one point as well lol. That was a fun race.

This is why I really want a Toyota stock car, at the very least. I should hope it would be possible, as it doesn't have to be the one they use in NASCAR.

I hope we at least get muscle cars on sports or comforts at Northern Isle.

Amazed that made it go Gt7 I didn't think PD remembered it was there.
 
Well that didn't last long.. 4 races and back down to B DR. 3 races with no contact and always finished above my starting position, albeit starring 13th or worse.. and then, when I get a killer start, PD decides that ghosting is not gonna happen so I get collected and end up last, lose my A rating and joy 🫤

Yes, I am in the RB livery. The dirty one is pretty cool (and one of the first ones in teh search if you're so inclined) but it was too close to the original for me. Plus, I always thought it odd when one car was dirty and all the others were squeaky clean, but it does look good in its own right. I like the replays to look as legit as possible, but obviously can't control what other people do... it is what it is. Anyway, I digress.


Had an interesting one last night. Was in first on the first lap when going into the tight left before the first oval I got rear ended and sent into the tires. Watched the replay and he didn't even get a penalty... but he binned himself on the next lap and quit out so whatever. So now I am P8 but the leader is only 7.5 seconds up so I decide to keep going.

Through some chaos and passes I was able to make my way up to P3 with a few laps to go. Was catching them but not very quickly, so it was going to be very close. To the last lap and they're starting to fight which is helping me. I am ~1 second back and going into the first tight right they collide. I slid right through and finished the lap for the win. Guess it pays to see the race through sometimes.

It worked until 10:30 this morning (EST)

I switched from ps4 to ps5 last night to see the differences ion Daytona. It's quite different

From steadily gaining DR on ps4 to overall losing DR on ps5

Matchmaking is much more 'unstable' on ps5, getting rooms with much higher DR spread. It seems DR resets are mostly to blame since there are a lot of fast lower DR drivers. From beating DR A+ on ps4 to getting beat by DR B on ps5 with more fast DR C and DR D in the room. The races on ps5 were a lot more dirty, more clumsy, more chaos, more aggressive, more frustrating, much less fun overall. No wonder people would prefer race A on ps5...

I'm going back to sport races on ps4, not liking the ps5 crowd and aggressiveness on the track at all. From a couple idiots a day/night on ps4 to at least 2 openly dirty ones every race on ps5 with more making stupid moves all over the place.

Also much better server connection on ps4, this is on ps5...

I get 5 bars steady on ps4. (Dirty race, slowing down my lap times a lot, normally doing 1:31s)

I did manage a victory on ps5, thanks to dropping in the low SR S split after a BS penalty. For +200 DR...

Not everything on ps4 is better though, far from it. For some reason it takes well over a minute for the game to start loading, just a black screen on launch. Races often start late due to someone not being able to connect or the game hangs on formation until it throws out half the room. So far I've always been 'allowed' to stay. Yet the general attitude on the track plus matchmaking are definitely better.

My score for sport mode race quality
PS4 6/10
PS5 4/10

Fun track, wish the game worked better.

Did two race B's today in my trust Citroen. Have a quali lap of 1:47.923 which put me in 5th at the start. Quickly work my way up to 3rd after lap one. Follow the front two cleanly and make a good move on 2nd place into the Larini point. As we come down the hill into the esses he decides that turning left and braking is not an option so he pushed me wide and into the wall. Ended up 2nd last because of the damage caused.
