My inexperience really showed last night. Set a pretty good time for race c (1:58.63x) in the BMW and figured I'd give a race a go. Qualified 4th I think. Recognized some of the names ahead of me, and was happily surprised that it wasn't a one-make race as I saw a couple BrZ's ahead of me. I knew there would be fuel and tire management, so I set my HUD to fuel trim and off we went. We get through turn one fine and things are going well. A little too well and on the straight towards spoon, I realize (too late) that my fuel trim must be too aggressive as I'm quickly gaining on Andrew racing's Brz. I'm thinking go lean as I miss my braking point and punt the Brz in front of me. We go off and I collect a well deserved 2 second penalty, embarrassing . The Bimmer is thirsty and tires need changing and still struggle towards the end. Lesson learned.

I'm sure @xMAXIx79 and others will put a proper time in soon and yes the Nissan has maybe a couple of mph (cough) advantage on the straights but I don't get many chances to sit on top of a leaderboard and gloat so I'm going to take it while I can 😎

Take that sucker!

Also it should be appreciated the lights on this thing are not modern! You can barely see a bloody thing

Great Time Bro... let me get my Wheel back then i'll try to set a better Time.

IF you are A+ about 20 seconds över the whole race. If you are B then negligible.
I think I get this, so a no stop A+ driver will lose around 20 seconds running in fuel save. And a pit stop is about what 25 seconds here? So in A+ as long as your at the front and can pull a decent gap to P2 you can make a pit stop work, if not then it just run a no stop race?
I just completed my first attempt at this in total off 21.04.xxx and that was with me pitting. I pitted for new tyres and fuel, I forgot to check how long my full pit stop time was. I think it was about 25 seconds. I know tyre swap was 4.

Do people change tyres at the event too? I managed to keep the tyres in good shape and then on lap 5/6 they started to drop off. I pitted lap 6 and managed to make up decent time of the car ahead with the new tyres but just not enough to catch. Another lap or two and I would have taken P3

Penalties do seem absolutely ghoulish for Suzuka. I've been punted at the chicane in 3 races (purposefully) and been put in last whilst the driver who did it gets away scott free. It's whatever, because being at the back of the pack lets you fuel save and turn any race into a no-stop, which usually gets you a top 5, but it's ridiculous that the penalty system is that busted right now.

As for spending 29k on medium tyres... oh no. You actually get more in a sport race than you do for buying the tyres so I really think that's hardly something worth complaining about lol. You've bought tyres in every GT game (except Sport?). That's nothing new, and they're not really breaking the bank. Seems like complaining for the sake of complaining at that point. Only thing I want from that is the ability to buy tyres from the select screen instead of having to back all the way out.
Please read my post again.
I'm not complaining about buying the tires. Oh no... It is all about comparing that the free cars don't need to buy the tires.
Jeeezzz, read again, please.

Gotta say Race B is surprisingly fun. The track takes a lot of learning, I am down to a high 2.01 but I have more in me if I get it right. The Alfa is very competitive in race as it gains a lot on the exits and the twisty bits, not tried the GTR yet. FR cars seem semi-competitive.

I am REALLY struggling through the last sequence in race trim, qualifying I can get through flat but in race i am lifting and being eaten alive, i just cannot make it work. Track limits are very confusing, I have absolutely no idea where they are on each corner, zero, seems a lottery.

Amazing time to be honest, I'm miles off this though I've only used the TT which feels very slow and skittish, the track just feels so awkward compared to its normal layout.

I'm usually bullish at just jumping into a race and seeing what happens but hesitant with this as I feel like I'm going to roadblocking the place up for everyone else.

I hope I can get it under 2.05 tbh

Did a couple of races in the 2017 Lexus and it did a no stop just fine from short shifting. Tyre wear is more of an issue though that might just be me being bad on tyres

to loose clean is more satisfying to my than to win dirty
It is to me too. But we have different definitions apparently. If the faster guy makes a mistake and I win because of that it's definitely still a clean win. To be first, first you have to finish.

A dirty win is if I touch him so I can get past
If I by following close makes him nervous and make a mistake it's still a clean win. In my book and in FIA's book too.

Yes, indeed it is a clean win, no doubt. But it is not so satisfying and I feel always so sorry for them, cause I know exactly how it feels to crash in the final corner, did it way to often

A player at A+ is about 20 seconds faster when fuel saving than the same player going flat out and pitting.

I know what you mean about it been awkward. My brain thinks I can take the same lines and speed that you can in the normal layout but some corners tighten after the apex which catches me out.
I’m struggling massively to find the braking zone and speed for T3 & T4.

I don’t want to be THAT GUY, but I am absolutely dominating Suzuka this week. Have won all but 3 top split races and no worse than 3rd. (I think I’m up to 8 wins)

I have a qualy time of 1:58.6xx in the Jag and usually start in the top 2 spots. (One race I started 4th). My race time is generally just above or below 20:25.

There is a good mix of cars, mostly Corvettes, M6s and BRZs with the odd Beetle and WRX and a few left field choices here and there.

But the big thing is that I can absolutely guarantee that if something is faster than the short-shifted Jag then it is running a one stop strat on full beans. No matter how much quicker the driver usually is. And yet, I have not seen one other person in it so far. Weird.

And for the no stop vs one stop timing, for the people I’m racing it’s about 15-20 seconds slower for the one stop depending on traffic.

Anyway, this doesn’t happen all that often for me so I’m making hay. Hopefully my luck holds out for the rest of the week.

Or are you one of the tryhards who do TimeTrial every Day the whole Week, looking for the next Tenth here or there.
Never satisfied with what you have already achieved always looking for an improvement?!
Is DR so important as if it mirrors who you are or how fast you are.
Do you only play and enjoy trying to improve a meaningless Letter/Number to be proud of yourself
😬. This is scarily precise. It’s a shame you don’t do the dailies. We’d be in the same races all the time and one more clean driver filling the grid is one less moron to contend with.
And you should definitely give Suzuka a try. Unbelievable that you haven’t driven it yet, what have you been doing all the time assuming you have played GTS too
In my defence I started playing GTS around Christmas and I just sort of plod along with the dailies and learn the tracks as I go. It’s just escaped me thus far.

I can't do suzuka, mind bogglingly slow there. I am dead slow in sector 1 and the final chicane does my head in, spoon is also bad for me. I suspect the d-pad hurts me there more than anywhere else, i can't "apex high, square off the corner and fire the gas" at suzuka, it actually takes some talent.

OK, first thing first, are you take the last sequence flat? There's like 1.5 seconds in it I kid you not. So from the second last right, last left and last right.... flaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaattttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt.

SO

MUCH

TIME

Hopefully I can get a chance to try again tonight, depends on the better half, but man the track backwards just throws me all sorts of ways off.

It's a hard track normally with the quicker sections having some wild camber to throw the car around and turns like that blind left coming out of the tunnel onto the straight that you don't really brake for and you kind of turn in and hope for the best, but backwards it looks even more terrifying to try and just flick it around there.

Deep Forest backwards was okay, despite how fun it is it's a pretty basic track, but Trial Mountain is overwhelming almost in reverse.

got down to an (optimal) 2:00.8 in the Alfa for Race B, but I think my one race yesterday will be it for the week. it may be nit-picky, but I would feel more comfortable racing if it was on Mediums.

It’s difficult to hit the correct line/gear without sliding even in qualifier conditions… in the race I had about 3 legitimate drift-saves when forced off the line. tires were ice cold and then worn, which isn’t ideal. If you miss one curve you’re basically a roadblock for the next fifteen seconds - not to mention, driving an Alfa against 50 GTRs makes the two straightaways an “honors system” highway. I let cars past but I don’t think everyone will this week. It’s fun trying to maximize a time on a “new” layout, but I don’t think the cars hold onto the track well enough to make for clean racing.

Sorry.. My bike has arrived and is working, although FFB feels really weird now...I couldn't resist.

It boggles my mind on how broken the matchmaking is for PS5 American region. I get matched with top split drivers and I’m no where near there level. I’m barely holding on to DR A (on Megatrone).

I wonder if there’s any difference on thd ps4 side. I can race on my EU account, DR B and get matched with them

Couldn't even give me 24 hours at the top  I see how it is mate

Excellent lap brother well done

Edit: was quoting @Belovian post but didn't insert the quote.

I was watching his stream when that happened.....well going back and forth between his Cyrus' stream. I think Cyrus finished 2nd from the back and when I switched over to Andrew he was talking about getting taken out. Lol It happens to us all.

Had few laps in the Z4 around Suzuka this morning. Got down to a 59.8. I'm a little unsure what I want to focus on this week. I'm much better suited for gr 4 cars but really don't like the reverse layout but Suzuka has never been a strength for me.

This is how I felt at Daytona two weeks ago. I couldn't believe how much success I had there in the 787B, kinda out of nowhere. Really made the game fun again.

You've motivated me to give C a go this week. How is the Jag on tires late in the race? Are you on fuel mix 1 and short shifting or are you adjusting the fuel mix + short shifting? What is your DR (just asking this for an apples to apples comparison).

What do we need to do to wean you off the d-pad!?

Yup.... Just watched it. Pretty bad on my part. To be fair he only went wide but spun on re-entry. Still, not cool. Me bumping Andrew racing watch at 2:49:30

I think the player population is pretty low in our region. Frequently I see lobbies with DR A-C and SR S-C in them. And, a lot of the same names over and over.

Which reminds me of a thought I had last night, I'd gladly wait an extra few minutes for matching if I could set a preference or filter for SR rating. In general, if I see an SR B or below driver in the lobby, it's almost always going to be a dirty driver.
