Took part in some Race C's & because I either started on pole or 2nd, I always managed to finish in the top 3. Somehow the Audi TT (FF) suits me better than the Elantra (FF) ever did. Last time, I was in Race C with Gr.4 FF cars was at Red Bull Ring with the Elantra. It was not so easy for me then as was very new with my new wheel. The RBR track also doesn't suit me as much as Watkins probably. Plus, I've raced with Audi TT for much longer than Elantra. So enjoying this great Race C.

@Andyxdr Same pinch Mate. Because of my strong results (finally) at Race C, I've also entered the DR A club.

The big drop seen here was on purpose as I was already DR A but wanted to slip into B just because whenever there is a Manu cup, I would get the worst possible time slots for GT1 (Dr A & above) - 22:30, 00:30 & 02:30 which is highly inconvenient despite wanting to take part in it. When dropping to GT2 (DRB & lower), I get 10 slots which start from 13:30 which makes it worthwhile...

Oh would have been lovely to take that out for a little spin wouldn't it!!!!

I'm going to give GVH a little blast again tonight, last night was pretty meh - the hairpin was just divebomb city every lap with people using you to stop the car. Hopefully will be better this evening. Been watching a few guides so hopefully dip into the 47's.

Really struggled with consistency yesterday, the track really seems to need a nice rhythmic flow with carrying the speed and I'm much more of a stamp on the brake and turn and accelerate than a graceful dancer.

Alas it’s seems like just a pipe dream 😂 still half a tenth away and keep screwing up the final sector 😡

Had the weirdest glitch in race B just now! The Elantra in front kept changing from white to red every km. Was really off putting 😂

I only know what colour they are and this bastard one kept changing so even took they away from me 😂🤷‍♂️

Man there are some good drivers for race C qualys. Spent a solid half hour hot lapping and got it down to a 1:34.608 IIRC which is about where my limit is at, which is around 250th in the world. Dropped down to A rank this week after a series of crap races. Sitting at 49,457 DR pts so another 1-3 top 8 finishes should get me back to A+ rank plus that extra DR boost you get when ranking up. The meta strat appears to be to pit after lap 1 and nurse the RMs. I've been pitting end of lap 2 and the lap 1 pitters just get too far ahead with the train of drafting. I can pick 2-3 off as they cook their tyres but it's not ideal. It's quite a skill to maximise tyre life without being too slow
 
Yeah I may bail on Race C, I cannot seem to drive these super slow FFWD cars quickly enough, I get to about 2% of the top time but you need to be within 1% to be competitive even in a high B room. I had the same issue around Bathurst with AWD Group 4 a few months back, just cannot get that last half second you need in these "get on the gas before the apex" cars.

And I despise having to nurse one tyre.

I was actually tempted to settle on a 1'51.828, but I thought wouldn't it be cool to be Infront by over half a second on day 2 of a sport mode combo on a standard lengthed track.

Glad I went back out there to find a further 80 clicks!
 
Okay. I know I said I was in favor of the 2018 Nissan GT-R, but now I'm leaning towards the Toyota GR Supra Racing Concept for Race B since the latter feels faster than the former. It's nice to see that the GR Supra is getting its mojo back.
 
Last night on my Insta feed, ManuRodry's instant lap guide for Watkins Glen showed up. Unfortunately for me, he talks in Spanish + the subtitles he puts also are in Spanish.......

He too has used ASM to post the 5th fastest time (at that time). I used it too because the old saying 'When in Rome, do as the Romans do' makes a lot of sense. As the game is allowing it which somehow makes the Audi TT faster through corners, it ain't cheating.

I don't use ASM in the race though.
 
Back
