I'm currently on G29. I'm hoping (expecting?) to get the DD GT Pro for my birthday next week. Also hoping to get the mid range CSL Elite Pedals V2 as well over just adding the load-cell to the DD GT Pro.The leap in time is not my sudden increase in skills but the upgrade from the G29 to the DD Pro
I feel somewhat the same. My G29 is now getting on a bit and I feel the brakes on it is my main weakness. I can't afford to upgrade at the moment but will still try my best to keep on getting better.I'm currently on G29. I'm hoping (expecting?) to get the DD GT Pro for my birthday next week. I know there are a lot of people that are fast on the G29 but for me, I feel the dead zone in the center and the clunkiness is limiting my ability to progress. I'm looking for some smoothness throughout its rotation. Also, while I've played with many settings I just don't feel the feedback in a way that I find usable. Perhaps that is me not understanding how to read the feedback, but it doesn't feel like a real car...
I'm encouraged by your feedback on the boost in lap time having switched!
The biggest improvement I did to my G29 was putting a load-cell in for the brake and changed the springs for the accelerator. That made a lot of difference. I actually don't mind the pedals and considered the Logitech Pro wheel and keeping my pedals but it is so many $$$ and also there is no selection of wheels. In the end I think the DD GT Pro with the CSL Elite V2 pedals comes in at the same price at the Logitech wheel and the 5NM will not stress my Playseat Challenge. I might upgrade to 8NM down the road if I see that my chassis can handle it.I feel somewhat the same. My G29 is now getting on a bit and I feel the brakes on it is my main weakness. I did a brake mod on my G29 pedals as I, too, believed the brake pedal was the system's biggest weakness. For $20 I figured why not try it? I like it so much more now. With the mod set you can tinker with the set up to get it how you want it. Basically, I put in a stiffer spring and got rid of the rubber buffer, so there is a little more resistance but a lot more travel (I never liked the "two-stage" feel of the pedal with the rubber buffer). I also did not use the o-ring as it made the pedal way too stiff for my liking.I feel somewhat the same. My G29 is now getting on a bit and I feel the brakes on it is my main weakness. Started running race C today, and not having as much luck as last week. Hasn't helped that as a C rated driver, I keep getting put in races with mostly B drivers, where my QT is only good enough to get in the back half of the pack. I guess the good news is that I'm not making too many errors, and at least seem to be holding on to my starting position.
I've raced Yamagiwa before, and always enjoyed it for a fictional track. Reverse has mostly the same feel, but that chicane before the uphill really seems to get me. Can't find a good balance between when to brake and still have a reasonably fast and controlled run through the chicane. Oh well, going to work on improving the QT tomorrow, and see if that helps.
Seconding the benefit of a load cell pedal conversion on the G29 as @TheNormsk said. I was super hesitant (and when I say hesitant, I mean like 7 years hesitant 😬), but after a little calibration adjustment of both the pedal and the driver, I wouldn’t go back. Probably took me an hour to fit it, and another hour to get it to my liking (I have max braking at 28% travel), and tried it on the recent Watkins Glen TT, and found 0.4 to 0.5sec improvement almost immediately. The ability to better modulate trail braking is key. I got this one…I feel somewhat the same. My G29 is now getting on a bit and I feel the brakes on it is my main weakness. Good racing! I was not recognizing the name at first but figured it must have been a GTP comrade. That was surprisingly entertaining.@TheNormsk Good race at SSRX. 👍
I was there with you, on my alt account: TPC_Vigilante.
That sucks. I've never been on P1 on race B but I've been 2nd and done just that last lap as well. It's very easy to spin/hit the apex on that corner and then you lose all your speed into the uphill. You'd think I'd be happy with this, since this is the best I've finished in a month:

But considering where I was here on the last lap:

...the inevitable was to come quickly...

...and even though I made it reasonably close, one fact remains indisputable: "I am such an idiot".
Yeah, especially when I was saying to myself "Don't do anything stupid", while I was mentally composing the post I was going to make here. D'OH!It's very easy to spin/hit the apex on that corner and then you lose all your speed into the uphill.
Not a dumb question. Although I haven't used my alt account for a while, when I did use it, it was because that week's race was one of those that killed your DR and/or SR, and I didn't want to lose my hard-earned DR/SR position just because a race was stupid. It let me do the race without worrying about the impact on my stats.Dumb question....the alt accounts thing. I totally get people having different region alts (though I have no idea how it's done...I'd actually consider this one). But why do people have alt accounts for their own region? To protect their DR for championship races?
Ooooooooooof. We've all been there 😁...and even though I made it reasonably close, one fact remains indisputable: "I am such an idiot".
I have an alt for another region, but this week is the first time I've considered establishing one for my home region.Dumb question....the alt accounts thing. Good to see you as well; it's always fun to come across a fellow GTPer. That was a competitive lobby for me. I did three races with the last ending with a win, so a good night! The hung race sucks for you though.@TheNormsk good seeing you this evening in B race. Only got in two races tonight because race 1 worked and then race 2 got hung up and I waited until just before the race I saw you in was nearly ready to start. Everyone quit but me and 1 other but after I finally quit I checked and I lost 200 DR because of the hung race.
I spent a bunch of time trying to qualify better in another car and ended up staying with the RCZ 🙄
Watched the replay and got to see how things went for you in the stacked lobby. Looked like you were holding your own well and advanced until you got taken down near the tunnel. Also nice save on the final lap when the same guy almost took you a second time.
Always great seeing gtp members out there!
🍻
No, it's all wrong. I see a lot of A S and A+ S who forcefully take the inside, pushing you on the grass or even worse making you crash into a wall, and get away with it. No penalty, nothing. And the innocent driver not only loses speed, time and other cars overtake, but also gets mechanical damage from the impact(s). (and possibly also doesn't get the clean race bonus, but this is debatable)Do SR ratings mean anything anymore? I see a lot of childish nonsense in sport mode in the last three weeks. If I wanted this kind of driving game I would get Forza Horizon or Mario Cart or something.
I've been using the tallest tree there as a referenceAre you aiming at something to nail it?
Been there a few times.Yeah, especially when I was saying to myself "Don't do anything stupid", while I was mentally composing the post I was going to make here. D'OH!
Speak for yourself.Ooooooooooof. We've all been there 😁
I have a few different accounts and at first it was because I had no idea how online gaming worked so I created a separate account for racing. I also have one for when I have been drinking too much. Last but not least I made one for friends and family that wanted to try online gaming/racing.Dumb question....the alt accounts thing.
