On Trial Mountain reverse I drove extensively the R8s, AMG '20, Beetle, Renault, 458, Genesis X, GR Supra, RX Vision, Alfa 4C, Porsche, GTRs, Suzuki VGT, Mustang, Viper...

I say that nothing beats the Huracan. The most balanced of all to get the best lap time, and the risk of messing up is very low.

Hello
New here but viewing for some time, started GT7 at release and play mainly daily races predominantly B.
Have tried most cars this week but get on best with the Alfa 4C in the race with qualifying in the low 1.51s in euro but got a 1.50.728 on US account.
Have raced with a few of you and will now try and say Hi from now on.
Probably increased the average age here as well being 58 years young.

Welcome mate, the game gets substantially better when you start contributing on here. Good craic improves everything.

Thank you for the welcome

Had about 4 races with the infamous 2007 F1 Champ ( first name) last night.
Wow! He started on pole each time and preceeded to back every one up and pick off each car as they tried to pass, how does he keep his DR and SR so high.

Two pole position overall but no victory, one time the opponent just made me spin, the second time was my fault...I was nervous and just made a mistake and the two behind me passed.
I'm still a high D, I could have moved to C today but I'd needed to be more consistent when leading, I often slow down becoming too much alert when driving, I need to just keep pushing and stay into the flow.
Been there, done that. In fact, just yesterday, and I'm a high B. Nerves are nerves, no matter what level you're driving at. Next time I'm going to say to myself "You're in the lead or a reason. Drive it like you own it!"

Awesome! Good to see you come out of the woodworks. And I'm 66, so I don't know if you raised it or lowered it!

Haven't done much again this week as I'm not a huge fan of reverse layouts. It got me thinking though, why certain alternate versions of tracks aren't in GT7. Tsukuba has it modelled but coned off, so that requires very little in terms of development. Having watched the Austrian GP last weekend, I noticed a chicane after T1 that's not actually in GT7's version of the track (apparently it's for MotoGP which would explain why it's not in GT7 I suppose), but it would make for some nice variety with minimal development time. PD's efforts with fantasy tracks is pretty good (Grand Valley Highway should have just been a direct copy of Speedway but with appropriate graphical improvements as it was a great track), but it would be nice to see more real world tracks getting digital versions. I guess that licensing has a lot to do with it which is why we're not seeing British tracks outside of Brands and Goodwood (PC3 had a lot of BTCC tracks which I would have loved to see in GT7 but I assume that Slightly Mad will have some kind of exclusivity).

The Austria chicane isn't in GT7 because the chicane didn't exist in real life until last year.

I agree with you.

I assume with the UK tracks they are well known in the UK (Cup racing, BTCC, ginnetta, BSB, MotoGP)

But outside of possibly touring cars and BSB places like Cadwell, Thruxton, Knockhill, Snetterton etc just aren't really that well known.

It does always make me wonder why Donnington isn't in the game though as it's an International FIA approved track that hosts pretty much all of the top end racing categories.

Well that makes some sense! It would still be good to see the track updated to the current spec though (I'm sure I heard something about T1 having less of a sausage kerb now).

Donington is such a good track and again there's options in terms of layout with the GP loop it has. I've loved that track since TOCA Touring Cars on PS1 and it's such a shame to see it get largely forgotten outside of the more hardcore sim racing games.

Hi! Love the 4C, it's not so used by users in daily races but as a proud alfista....she's rude but good if you know how to handle! and being a B driver, you know that :)

That's the way! I'm fairly new to Sport Mode and when I'm leading I'm always sweating...it becomes "Please don't crash! Please don't downshift too early!" moment :D

I hear people say this and it just confuses me. I will agree that some tracks in reverse just plain suck, I'll give you that. But otherwise, why not just consider it a new track? TM in reverse is a really good track, IMO. Sure there's drama in the first 2 turns, but it's not like that doesn't happen in a dozen other tracks.

Trial Mountain is for sure one of the better ones. To be fair, I had problems with dirty racing which probably had more to do with why I haven't raced this week. It's really quite disappointing to see teams race so poorly, and carry over anger from previous races just to ruin another.

Ok, I'm new so don't destroy me....but, in daily races B do you change the settings of your car to adapt to the track? I usually just take the car and drive :D
I should take care of this after 3 week of daily grinding in sport mode.
:nervous:
When you're new and just wanna use your new toy...ahem, wheel as much as possible :dunce:

Nope, you can't. BoP is fixed, just like the tires you're able to choose.
On some VERY race occasions you can tune your car in Daily Race A. Race B never.

Does anyone else (PS5 performance mode) experience lots of screen tearing and stutter out of the tunnel and through the corner to the other short tunnel at TM?
Yes. I get a lot. Particularly went you’re in a pack of cars at that point. Less so when singular.

Oh thanks, I feel better cause in that I would have wasted 3 weeks racing 😬, I thought you wouldn’t tune it with better component but you would change settings like suspension height ecc ecc

Yeah I noticed some pretty poor performance there as well, running in Performance mode also. Seems strange though, it doesn't happen in the regular version of the track.

PMK
pretty sure it was buffed
I'm doing ok in the middle/Lower lobbies with the McLaren ;)

I've realised for my abilities the cars are all pretty much the same (circa top 2000 in the world atm)

I go the same speed in all of them pretty much. I don't like the Renault because of the gear ratios on manual you are constantly shifting.

@Tidgney beat the meta videos have shown me that out side of the top guys consistency and a smooth lap is worth more than a few BoP points in reality.

One B race again this morning before starting the outdoors projects. 🚜

Overall good race with the same paint scraping but reading trouble ahead of time allowed another p9 start to net a p4 finish.

I will miss this layout next week. I used to be competitive on the standard layout yet lost my edge back about the time the Audi TT was meta but reversed it works better for me than standard at this point.

The Mclaren is great too. I understand the gear ratio stuff on the Renault, but it's just something you have to get used to i think. It's a reality that some cars are definitely better than others in certain situations (Supra on high speed tracks, GTR in races where tires have to last) Also yeah, consistency and smooth laps will gain you alot of positions.

After saying I would quit Race B yesterday I ended up doing three more but now I am officially done! I'm stopping on a high note as my nerves can't take it anymore! I literally still feel shaky some 20 minutes after my last race :D

I did two races last night and found the DR B lobby again. Race 1, I went Q4 to 2nd in lap 1 but then over the race lost that to finish where I started at P4. Race 2 I was Q1 and after a less than perfect turn 2 I got some abuse lap 1 dropping to 4th. Then later in the race I got some more abuse after less than stellar racing on my part to finish P6. Still in the points but I was disappointed after a Q1 start.

Today I was busy and not feeling great but I thought I'd try one more...

In an all B lobby again, I jumped on with a minute to go and no QT warm up. I started Q2. I took the lead through the first lap and by end of lap 2 I was over 2.5 seconds ahead. I'm not good being in front and I think I lose focus when I'm not chasing a car in front and by the end of lap 1 the lead was down to 1 second. Nerves then built as I realized I needed to push to maintain the lead and of course when I do that I drive worse! :banghead: I did manage to maintain the lead for the win but by the flag it was down to only 0.12 of a second. Too close for comfort. Oh and CRB and fastest lap as well!

I can't handle anymore (nerves are shot), so time to end.

Daily race B has been good to me this week. Out of 19 races I have had 2 wins and only 3 races where I had a point loss. It has taken me from 11% DR B to 52% my highest ever rating.

This evening I may host a custom Grand Valley lobby (around 8-9pm CST) to simulate next week's race C for a bit of practice.... I'll have it open to friends only so if you're online and have friended me, check it out if you'd like.

Last race B for me this week today....started 3 - finished 4th always with my beloved 458Italia GR3
I played so many times the daily B this week that today I just can't handle more of this Mountain Reverse :D

Ohhhhhhh ciao from another born in Firenze, but then moved elsewhere...add me if you want

I find in BoP that the Audi R8 LMS and the RS01 are very similar, the Audi has a bit more oomph and the RS01 is slightly better in the corners.

Is the Audi a 7 speed as well or a six?

Yeah the Audi is 7 speed.
Although after watching replays of the top drivers they seem to rarely use 7th gear on Trial Mountain. Some of them never go above 6th gear at all, so that’s what I started doing. If the straights were just a little bit longer you would need 7th, but as it is you don’t.

Crazy! I never knew that car had a7 speed transmission. I thought it was only the Renault, Citroen and Vw VGT, for GR 3 at least. Good to know 🍻
