Hopefully this isn't gt sport 2 because I bought a game that's supposed to have tuning in it.


No you are right to each his own my problem is these people basically praising arcade mode in a sim racer.

bought a game that is "supposed to have tuning in it" but nobody ever said it was supposed to have tuning in it and it's had tuning for 2 of the 3 weeks the game has been released.

imagine being so upset about how other people play a game that you create an account on GTP just to cry about it even though nothing is stopping you from playing the game the way YOU want to play it.

It’s just plain wrong tho. It is just a DR donation exercise. I don’t have that much to start with and it feels like I’m scrabbling round for crumbs after the big dogs ate.

I understand what you are saying about the numbers but I would rather race against half a dozen folks at the same level than be frankly humiliated on a regular basis fighting to come 7th in a 15 car race.

There is no DR exchange above 40,000 DR difference though. 80 - (DR difference / 500) bottoms out at 40,000 difference. That A+ driver won't get any points from a DR.C driver, and the DR.C driver won't lose any points to that A+ driver.

However if the A+ crashes or get disconnected, he loses 160 DR to all the DR.C players and lower in the room. The risk is entirely on the A+ driver, driving in such mixed rooms.

I'm sure the A+ driver doesn't want to be matched with anyone below DR.A either.


Limiting matchmaking to only one SR letter and max 2 DR letters would be more fair. But full rooms have the priority, need more players to show up. The split between ps4 and ps5 doesn't help. At least a third of GT Sport players haven't moved over yet, others are still playing the single player stuff, so at best matchmaking has 1/3rd of what it had to work with in GT Sport.

Well, it's the driver that set up the car in lower classes but once you move up you got a team to do it for you. That is pretty much the same as choosing the META car.

As a low B driver I often pick a car that's not the META (did in GTS at least) but where I race it's not as much the car as the driver that are the difference between where you finish.
But the further up the ladder you climb the less difference there is between the drivers, in A+ there's maybe 3 tenths between p1 and p15 so you can't afford not to pick the car

Shure, the Atenza is a bit unbalanced, but saying he should have chose another car because of that is like saying Hamilton raced the wrong car all these years the Mercedes was strong.

PD don't bother to make several hundred cars for each class. It seems that 90% of players will always choose only 1.
Humans...

Fortunately, IRL this doesn't happen. And that is what matters.

Being A+ at the moment is going to take consistency. You’ll be one of only 3 or 4 A+ in a room so you’d better come top 6!

tell me about it! In NA region it's even worse. I will often be the only A+ driver and sometimes there are C or D-rated drivers in the same lobby. I've been in races before where I gained less than 100 DR for winning and lost DR for getting P2 or P3.

On that note about A+ drivers needing consistency, I often find that's the only thing that separates an A driver from an A+ driver, or a low A+ from a high A+: their level of consistency. I've encountered a lot of very quick A drivers with good qualy times and even good race pace, they just happen to make a few more small mistakes here and there that cause them to drop back from the guys who are more consistent. It's not like A+ drivers know some kind of trick that other drivers don't, they are just able to put those laps together more often. When I compare myself to the very top A+ drivers on the world tour level, it's amazing to see them qualify and nail that lap with only one or two opportunities to do so. I can sometimes hit those laps, but I need 20-30 attempts instead of 2. It's amazing what those guys do.

Sums up my week to be honest. Every lap I mess up even one corner and it literally kills my race. Im still able to come top 6 but it’s no coincidence that the top 4 are usually A+ and the rest A even if that’s not how they lined up.
NA rooms seem to be even more threadbare than the EMEA ones from what I’ve read here. I hope it fills out a bit as time goes on but a greater variety of races as some have asked definitely isn’t going to work

I would hope so. But so far all you have done is calling people "not real racers" because they pick the META

I have a question I should probably know the answer to... why is it that car performance is different in online races compared to qualifying? Even with a clear road online, I can't do the same times. The tyres seem to behave differently despite showing no wear etc.

1. Slipstream: may be obvious but most of the time you ram someone from behind or get hit is because people forget this.
2. Tire wear
3. When tire wear is on track temp is also on which means different grip for different track temps. I’m not sure if track temp is simulated if you don’t have tire wear on. If someone knows please chime in.

It wasn't simulated in GTS, so I assume it's the same for GT7. In TT/free practice you have constant grip levels, but in race they will change based on tyre temps and wear.

Yes that was the case in GTS. Im assuming it’s the same but I don’t know for sure

That's good info thank you for sharing. I've certainly noticed the difference in braking when in someone's slipstream and always take extra care. I wish everyone else would, I got punted about 3 times today.

Some of the racing is appalling at times, it seems that some people know what they can get away with. I raced someone today who was clearly ramming people off the track throughout the race. He then called me a noob despite me finishing ahead of him..

It seems because GTS was not that popular, there was low quantity, high quality in terms of behaviours, that has reversed with GT7

What’s your DR/SR?

I noticed a significant improvement from DR C to DR B in SR S lobbies. You just have to endure it.

B B at the moment, I was B A but I had a few instances of getting rammed into other people and then getting penalised which dropped my SR to B today, it's so frustrating!

GTS didn't simulate track temperature at all afaik. In GT7 there is a big difference in grip between a sunny afternoon and a cold morning. When I do endurance races through the night I have to adjust all my brake points as the track cools down. Then when the sun starts warming up the track again I can go faster through corners and move my braking points out again.

No idea if the weather temperature conditions are the same in qualifying as in race. Yet the wind does play a part in qualifying.

@rivermandrake It has actually been better so far than what GTS has turned into :/ People know exactly what they can get away with and how to spin people out in GTS... The high quality drivers have long ago retreated into leagues or iRacing.

What are you guys doing to drop your SR? I have had no issues keeping mine on S and I must have done over 20 daily races B. Sure I’ve been punted to death and sometimes I also get penalties for little bumps and going off track but I’d say as long as you be careful and don’t retaliate you’ll be fine.

This reminds me, yesterday I got an off track penalty for being punted off track lol.

my favorite is this: guy did an awful job on senna entry and „jumped“on my hood.I got the 2 sec penalty (of course…) and stopping
at the penalty zone,same guy bumped in to my rear because he did that stupid“hopefully he is a microsecond longer invisible“ gambling.Guess who got another 2 sec penalty?Well,not him….this is not the first situation like this,i hate it.But for sure i‘m not the only one who suffers from this and its better than having no penalty at all..

I'm similarly trapped at B B. I was a consistent borderline A/S or B/S driver throughout GT Sport. After my DR/SR inexplicably started out as B/B on GT7, I've been stuck there as I'm consistently matched with a mix of C/S and B/B drivers. As my DR is higher than the C/S drivers, it seems I'm held to a higher standard. They hit me, I get a penalty. I get punted off, I get a penalty. I have to take to the grass to avoid a collision that's in progress, I get a penalty for ignoring track limits. It's utter madness. Briefly fell to a B/C but otherwise, stuck at B/B even after the uneventful races. According to my stats I had clean races amongst all this, yet I remain stuck at SR B. In GTS I easily maintained SR S for years, and if there was a messy ramfest of a race that pushed me down I could recover from B to S that same day. I've now spent the whole time I've had GT7 stuck at SR B and no idea how to improve it. How I miss being able to see the stats on Kudosprime.
 
Two weeks earlier, I had entered my first daily race, which was Race A at High Speed Ring. Flash forward to tonight, I had won my first daily race, which was Race A at Tsukuba Circuit. It was also my seventh daily race I've finished.

I think I missed every kart race on Sport so should be fun, though another week without a tuning road car race. Are they ditching this completely?
