Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races: Going Rental

Gran Turismo 7’s latest set of Daily Races is now available, with three new races to occupy players across the next week and a new feature brought in by the latest game update...

LOL PD.

Rental cars for qualifying and test them for future buys, it is a nice feature.
Rental cars for races? Silly. Just silly. Players must manage their garage and drive what they have chosen to buy and have.

Another no daily races week for me (2nd). Atenza and CLK party, it seems.

I think the penalty system is pretty decent. I didn't do the Monza race at all, but did a lot on the RBR.

You rear end someone, 1.000 penalty.
If it's a light nudge that doesn't effect either car, nothing
You hit someone off the track, spin them, etc., 4.000-6.000 penalty
You go off track and gain an advantage, .500 penalty*
You go off track and don't gain an advantage, nothing*

*I can't confirm this, but I swear if I would go a little wide through a turn but ultimately lose time to the guy in front/behind it was more forgiving in not giving me a penalty. Whereas if I went a bit off and gained time, I'd get the .500 penalty. Makes sense.

On paper for me daily A will be where its at. Which is exceptional as normally I never compete in A races.

@Famine I think you messed up with the pictures in the article of the track layouts? It's the tracks from last week.

I agree mate my experiences with it are pretty positive, I see the right things get the right penalties and though I get pinged for something I shouldn't have every now and again I'd say it's right about 90% of the time.

I don't begrudge people complaining about issues they've had but I do worry hyperbole like it's a sham or completely broken etc which is just not true, is the type of noise that led to it being completely removed from Sport and that was not the best time to be playing that game.

Ehhh. I got a couple two-four second penalties for lightly bumping someone at Monza with them staying on the track and not affecting the race. You also get double penalized if you do affect their race and give them their place back.

I also saw people drive others off the road on straights and not get penalties. For some reason I don’t think side contact is considered for penalties.

Monza also appeared to have weird track limits. Cut the chicane entirely get no penalty or get a proper .5 second penalty when you just put a wheel outside the white lines.

It's never going to be 100% perfect for 100% of the situations. That is why, of course, real races have Stewards that can judge each incident as it happens. That is just not possible in a video game. I think they are much improved over GT-Sp and if they get it, and are fair, 90% of the time (like @Mercia said) I can live with that.

Generally it is good. You still get anomalies though.
Got a forcing a car off track penalty at Monza even though I hit nobody. A couple of BS track limit penalties. But at least the penaltues are on.

A light nudge penalty. This annoys me. I have it a few times especially last week at RBR heading up the hill to T3. Under braking i found most of the time I was better at carrying more speed through that corner than some. I would end up giving the car ahead a tiny bump, not enough to send them off track or enough for them to lose time but I would end up with a 2 second penalty. I know bumping is not allowed but IRL you wouldn’t get penalised for that.

Going wide penalties I think they have this about right. I found at RBR if you run wide at the last two corners you could sometimes take you car off the track and run off over the grass and the penalty wouldn’t be applied.

How are the Daily races? Are we at the one make car races yet with the rentals? Not had chance to race yet.

Have to be that guy, but what'sthe point of grafting to own cars if you can just rent them pre race, would make more sense if there was a rental fee attached? 😏
I'm guessing that, outside of Race A, this will be temporary or show up intermittently. Just until enough players have enough cars.

What's a good gr2 car to buy/rent
Jesus! Even cars been able to try for free, some need advices?
A car that suites me well, might not suite others, due to driving style/steering wheel/PS pad setup/

It's Joe, not Jesus although I'm known to perform miracles from time to time. Don't get angry bud,I was just asking

My experience last week was fairly different. A light nudge at turn 3 at RBR was a 2 second penalty. A full on rear end got me 5 seconds, but when it happened to me (knocking me off the track and out of the race) the offender didn't get anything. Any off track penalty was .5 for me regardless of advantage. Maybe they penalize differently in different groupings, but I think it's fair to say it's not consistent at the very least.

I honestly think repeat offenders ought to get disqualified. It shouldn't be so hard to monitor. For instance, if the game can keep track of the traction and G forces of every tire on all the cars in a race, why can't it keep track of whether those tires are inbounds or not? And I think the DQed racers ought to be required to watch that silly etiquette video before they play again . . . :mischievous:

I think it's a great move to make the game cater to both e-sports players, and single player players. Grinding to own cars shouldn't be part of an e-sport, you should be able to just buy the game and compete on a level playing field. I think it's great that the game now allows this. But at the same time, people who only play single player can enjoy a long grind to own all the cars, and it's clear that many people enjoy doing that. It's a great attempt to cater for both audiences.

You still have the option to use your garage cars. So, its up to you how you wish to play in that aspect

Yup, I think this was a great move on their end to implement this. The races change each week, so if you end up liking the cars you drove you can go buy and own said car when the races change.

It will be interesting to see if BUDGET has a better selection than Enterprise. Perhaps Alamo will be the way to go.

The Manufactures Series has rentals too. But you have to maintain them.

With Daily rentals there's going to be a disadvantage to using your garage car. Wear and oil, having to buy the right tires.

Not a big deal but it should be rental cars with an option to add a your livery. Or if you use your garage car you get an extra award to cover some of the "cost" of racing an owned car.
