Loving Suzuka, such a satisfying and rewarding track if you can get it right.
Had a pretty terrible first half of this race but a great second half.
Starting I. The medium in P2 again, I was ok for 2 laps but then I made a few errors which lead to 4 cars passing me. Went deep at spoon and then hit the wall in 130R and got a nice 1.5 penalty punishment too for my troubles. After my stop I was 1 second behind P4 but still had my 1.5 to serve. Now 4 seconds back with 3 to go. Lap 8 & 9 I didn’t really make up ground but then the last gap I gained 2.5 seconds, and then the run up to 130R I had P4 on my front bumper. Managed to undercut P4 in 130R (with a slight shortcut maybe) and then hang the car round the outside into the chicane. Went on to get P4.

In the race I thought this was a great overtake, but after seeing the replays back was I a bit too aggressive into the chicane. Looks I was turning into the AMG for the right hander.

Seems fine to me.
If you hadn't backed out into 130R they wouldn't have left you space if you tried around the outside. (A good bit of driving/ foresight from you there.)
They squeezed you into the Casio Triangle which failed. They got too rattled and spun out themselves. You could do nothing different to make the overtake better.

Race B has been more fun than I had anticipated so far. I'm ashamed to admit that once again I'm quicker in the Alfa than in any other Gr4 car😬.
I too stink at Suzuka, I am really, really slow in sector 1 and through the last chicane. Just terrible. Also, I too am always fastest in the damn Alfa in group 4, i can't help myself. But, in race the Nissan is more predictable and I got my qualy down to within 4 tenths of the Alfa and on a track this size that's near nothing.

According to the Kudosprime tracker thing, I'm ~200 pts from DR A+... cue the dirty drivers to all come out of the woodwork for my next race...

Wait what, Kudos works for GT7?????????

So in agreement with Leon that St Croix is more fun than I expected, my pace seems OKish (22.3) but hard to tell as i am SR-A so not being matched in the fast splits, I suspect I need to find about 2 to 3 seconds which is just not going to happen.

Here's one from last night, ends really quite crazy and everyone seemed to race nice.

No but/yes if.

Basic premise is you have to send screenshots of your progress bar and it calculates what your DR is, based on the number of pixels. Which you can also do yourself.

Also I totally forgot, but on my way to the GT World Finals I photographed this:

I did wonder how close the flight path would be - and I'm sure you can guess what it is :D

You have to screen shot your driver profile page in the game, and kudosprime has a nice AI tool that reads the bar chart under your DR rating icon, to estimate your DR in numerical terms. (Thanks, @Milouse !) But you have to do it manually, after you create a login account, if you didn't already, and then it will keep track of what you do upload on the site. I do miss the old GTS tracker and tools that had been made, I wish they were something that PD just integrated completely into the game (ideally with a tip to Kudosprime and its creator), rather than blocking access to it...

@Famine I wouldn't have known without the Daily Races context, but good eye! Lac de Sainte-Croix! If only we could make out Circuits A, B, or C...

Without the fictional suspension bridge, they'll all be a bit damp.

The testing I did looked like 6 laps medium, 4 laps soft was about the only way to do it. The mediums are not happy after 6 laps, especially the fronts.

You can squeeze 5 laps from the softs but it's a bit dicey at the end.

I may try that some race, but dead mediums should be less dead than dead softs. I don't know how much car choice plays in. I was using a DBR9.

I tried a lot of laps in the WRX (hate it), then a lot more in the GT-R. Despite it feels nice to drive, I'm still more than a second slower than with the Alfa. No idea how to further improve, so I have to stay with the dreaded Alfa once again 😬

Suzuka Gr3 👏🏻
This is my type race. High tyre wear, pit stop required with 2 strats available in 6/4 & 5/5 on a great track.
Spent the weekend practicing this race trying cars and strats. My practice lobby races didn’t really go to plan. Had ok one lap pace but race pace was poor. I was going to use the BRZ as it suits the corners but the straights it loses too much time. Couldnt find pace in the GTR at all.
Didn’t have high hopes going in today but spent an hour or two this afternoon putting in TT laps and managed to get a 1.57.372 in the GTR. That was tough getting that time but somehow the GTR just seem to click.
Only done the 1 race today, but had a great race. P2 start on the mediums going for the 6/4. P1 got an early lead but started on RS, and P4 started on RS too. Lap 2 P4 now P3 was catching quickly and I could see the way they were driving a crash was going to happen. I raced my lines for as long as possible and then let them through on the start/finish. P1 & P2 did collide on lap 4 and P1 lost out and dropped to P3. Pit stops on lap 6 I managed to come out behind P1 by 6 seconds. Closed the gap to 1 second on the final lap and heading upto 130R I was basically pushing them up but I didn’t have an opportunity to make the pass. Took a solid P2.
Hopefully plenty more good racing for the rest of the week.
Question here about practice. Are you setting up a custom race or is there a lobby where people get ready for the upcoming races (I don't know a thing about lobbies).
I set up custom races and try and mimic the settings for a week's race to practice with the AI cars. I've found there is a difference in handling and performance between what I can create vs qualifying and races.

The issue with the WRX and the Alfa is the back end snaps under hard braking. So a hot lap is one thing but in the race the Nissan is more consistent and TBH the livery I have is great LOL.

I find the Alfa relatively easy to control when it snaps or slides. As opposed to the WRX, which for me always feels like pushing a clunky refrigerator on wheels around the track.😜

Normally I would definitely agree with you here but unfortunately bump drafting someone seems to make you lose the CRB, which I'd rather not if I can help it. Therefore I don't.

Or has anyone managed to keep the CRB while bump drafting someone? Being on the receiving end works fine but not giving in my experience. Which is a shame given how essential it is here.
I've gotten the CRB while scraping the wall in 2 races yesterday so I don't see why bump drafting would make you lose it. If I can manage to get a bump draft going, I'll report on my findings.

I know you should never really expect intelligence but it’s beyond my comprehension how so many lack the capability to drive a lap of Daytona smoothly without swerving all over the place.

True. A simple little lift just before each turn is also a really good way to settle the rear end down on entry. And in the draft you’re not going to lose time or a place in doing so. But carry on, you crazies.

I just tried once again, giving bump drafts. Nothing else which could cause a CRB loss and I lost it.

Yeah, you can really tell a lot of people are not understanding oval dynamics, let alone able to drive through Daytona without losing control...

It's funny cos when one goes, they all go, and there you are on the yellow line keeping a solid line around seeing it happen and thinking ah jesus christ

Have you tried the RCZ? For me, it seems much more controllable, and if I'm not mistaken, its brakes work better (could be my imagination). It's up there on the leaderboard, so at least someone finds it competitive.

Exactly what happened to me on my second race A. But it was only one guy. Everything smooth until he magically caught up with the leading group. Went all over the place until finally hitting the wall.
The good part: He took only one other driver out before being ghosted.
The bad part: Take a guess who that might have been...😬😆

Yeah the alpha feels stable to me compared to the WRX.

I was wrong. Just switched back to the Alfa, and immediately improved my QT, even with what felt like a sub-par lap.
The WRX struggles through the long corners but it is agile and good top end.

100 push ups to anyone who says Alpha.
Not a chance. It would take me a whole day (maybe two) to do that many pushups, and then I wouldn't be able to raise my arms enough to get to the wheel. I'll try the WRX, but I need something forgiving around the corners, so I don't have much expectations.

What would be required to "also do yourself"?

Had a go at Suzuka and typically, I think especially at this time in the week, if you're a bang average driver you can gain some places here simply driving smart and within your limits and not trying to overtake on every corner, Suzuka just isn't set up for that but oh boy will they try.

I went from 10th to 3rd, pretty happy with the run, appreciated the guy who ran behind me for the majority of the race didn't try anything silly at least.

there's the obligatory chicane dive of course (I wonder if they'll realise the only reason you get to keep that pass is that I'm not an a-hole...) and someone even had a go on the OUTSIDE of degner 1 (turn 8), had to respect the balls if nothing else, a quick journey into the sand though

Any image-processing software and a rudimentary knowledge of DR points boundaries

You'd need to take a screenshot of your in-game page then, using the image-processing software, measure the size of the bar compared to the maximum size of the bar. That's your percentage of progression through your current DR rank. Multiply that by the points range for that DR rank to arrive at an approximate score.

Let's say you have a 75% full bar at DR B. The points boundaries for DR B are 10,000 to 29,999, which is a spread of 19,999pt. 75% of 19,999pt is 14,999pt (ignoring the quarter-point!) which, when added to the base score for DR B of 10,000, gives you a DR score of 24,999.

It's approximate, but it's exactly the same method.

As for this week’s Dailies… I was watching a video about the original Spa layout (a Driver61 video on YouTube) …and the kink/chicane at St Croix reminds me a lot of the Masta kink at the old Spa layout. Same dynamic, too. Critical to lap time especially in low HP, momentum-critical cars like Gr4.
