I genuinely don't think I have much left in the tank to improve on this now. It's absolutely full on my concentrating to my max.

That said it's a bloody solid time and leaderboard position. Definitely punching above my weight for my ability!

I had it all planned to give the day at it and then we had a bad storm last night, have been without power since 1am 🙈🙈 Not ideal...even less ideal with a 5 month old child too 🤣

Yeah me too, I did some mild poking around this afternoon I think they made some changes the payload of the API so the structure has changed and also some of the ids they use internally.

Found some cool stuff, not massively useful but they track a lot more than they show us, some pretty deep things.

@TechnoIsLove there is an interesting attribute/value in the payload for daily/season/TT races

It's about where the penalty line should be and I can't see this weeks but it's on a scale that looks to be roughly 1-5 (possibly 0-5)

The reason this is interesting is that these can be dynamically updated.

Makes you wonder if they set them to the most tolerant first thing, look at some of the track limit p takes and then adjust. Would explain why we can't seemingly sometimes take the same lines. It also gives them options in between the custom race settings we can set. 🤔

Edit:

This parameter and our actual data would be extremely useful in developing Sophy showing it how we drive and what the track is and what limits it should adhere to to go fast or slow. We use looser track limits to subjectively go faster, flip that on its head and you can teach Sophy to go faster in tighter boundaries.

But you have to see what it is for what it is.

None of the fast/good/decent streamers do it, none of the fast silent leaderboard assassins do it, it's the sort of people I'm moaning about and Gurzu posted a video about. These are people that don't want to race or be the best, they want to win and more worryingly they don't care as much as we do.

No game or competitive sport is immune to this sort of stuff, and it's easy to lay blame at PD but it's not their fault people act like cock wombles, not saying in doesn't need a lot of improvement but it's the cock wombles that are more of a problem than the penalties and I'm a massive penalty moaner!

I know but deep deep down, these things were fun when I was younger. Now my time is limited they offer very little than novelty. I did 3 years of running pro kart endurance and it's fairly thankless. My time is focused on living the 45 year old Glen which is race or road cars.

I don't think I could comfortably get in to a cart these days but I do get the fun. Just I need to find mine away from them
 
@brockie ...above my main but still just below my alt Father_Dougal80 😋😋. I gave up on trying to improve, power returned at 8pm so I just decided to race instead. Will post a video in the morning. (its uploading to YouTube but our broadband is still on a go slow due to the weather) Some of these races just go the strangest ways 🤣

Looking at some of the JSON in the Profile page there is some really interesting data available.

Things like total lap counter and average qualifying rank. There is also something that infers how many laps you have been leading in a sports mode race.

It's got to be a mistake that PD made somehow. There's no way they'd release anything useful, on purpose. And yes, I'm extremely jaded.

They don't do official announcements but create the races and upload the static assets etc usually Friday morning ish GMT and you can get compounds length, fuel tire multipliers from the JSON that the API returned.

It appears that they have made API private/Internal it used to be Undocumented but Public.

With the other data there is a fair bit of stuff in there with a lot more detail/data than is actually displayed on the profile dashboard.

I think we all get that jaded-ness 🤣 but genuinely the data is there and has a node for it all and covers all of the previous dailies as well.

Apparently Kudos IIRC or GTSH seemingly are able to get the raw DR values again but I have no idea if they found the data to scrape somewhere or do the same as GranTracker.

Just got a top split race with a Tour driver on pole, I started 9th bearing in mind in EMEA im 330th is....

Fastest cleanest race I've ever seen, and even against A+ drivers who are fast the Tour Driver was 5 seconds clear at the end...

So I would like to add to discussion about GT7. I understand that game like this is for 8 - 12 years old mostly, and for a players who are playing with remote control not a wheel. But in my opinion is borderline stupid. For instance - In daily races you get 3 sec penalty for bump into the car who wash out on front of you and even you are Lewis or Verstapen, you can’t avoid collision. Car who washout and went off the track, easily catches up to you, even you running fastest laps. Then he gets you off the track without penalty and your race is over. In Race of the Nations - Exibition ….. I check video of best and fastest racer on the Red Bull track - if I drive on the track like him, I would get “ Track limits penalty all the time. He run over the line a lot. I mean “ A Lot “ !!!!! And that is how he get 4 sec better time than me. BTW - he’s A+ S ….. I’m D S. I just started 😝

Don't worry about results, they will come to you.

Do the circuit experiences, appreciate that you need to drive better, cleaner and faster. You can't rock up and expect to to be the fastest even bashing through everyone or being bashed in to.



Focus on awareness and car control, then work up the pace



These two videos aren't guides but show how you have to be able to drive, control your lines and practice safe (read sportsmanship) with not contact.

And if you want to go through the pack this is how I did it after chucking away pole position.

Couldn't improve on my Race B's 1:33.107 QT with the NSX Gr.4.

Race 1: Started P14. Fast room. Had no pace. Finished P11.

Race 2: Started P13. Pace was somehow worse. Finished P15 (last).

Race 3: Started P14. More of the same. Finished P13.

Race 4: Started P14. Game said I forced someone off track braking into the Veedol Shikane on the final lap. Finished P13.

Race 5: Started P10. Solo spin at Turn 6 on Lap 1. Finished P15 (last).

Brutal Gr.4 races. Absolutely brutal. Well, that's enough of that! 😤 😅

Just use the Hurracan this week, it's the more suited car for the track. I'm an NSX man as you know but even I know when to fold'em

That was the first half of my day. It got a tiny bit better. 😬

Decided to end my day with some Race C action in the NSX Gr.3 (default) with its 1:29.289 QT. No TCS for my starts.

Race 1: Started P13. Pushed into a spin exiting Turn 3 on Lap 1. Collected a pit penalty. Finished P13.

Improved my QT with a 1:28.785.

Race 2: Started P13. Messy start, and I collected another pit penalty. Finished P12.

Race 3: Started P7. A few too many sloppy and clumsy drivers made life difficult. Finished P9.

Improved my QT slightly, with a 1:28.753.

Race 4: Started P6. Good start. Decent pace. Finished P4.

Improved my QT again, with a 1:28.549.

Race 5: Started P4. Had a rocket start. A G70 almost passed me on the inside of Turn 4 on Lap 2, but they spun out at the exit. It took a couple more laps for me to finally get some breathing room, where I led into the pits at the end of Lap 6. Thought I got undercut by a Supra, but they forgot to pit. Finished P1.

My final two races made up for a pretty miserable race day. More than happy to end it with a win. Good luck out there!

Welcome back to the club mate, you doing okay? Did you ever get over the flu/Covid? I know you mentioned about it a while back(in the spring/summer). I think PD usually tells us on certain third-party websites on Thursday or Friday of what the three selected tracks/ types of tires are going to be for the upcoming week. My goal is to get a PS store gift card to redeem my subscription back, the $9.99/month plan.

Went back and ran some Daily C from the back to repair the SR from some of the LeMans carnage before I went on holiday. What an adventure. First dodging all the wipeouts (I had my own spin in every race I think all on my own anyway) and trying to understand the SR system.

One race I had a light bump on someone going into turn 2 lap 1 and it was enough to nudge them wide, and I did get a penalty, but it didn't cause damage. Then I had a spin exiting the final turn on another lap, locked it down and didn't hit anything or go off track. Only things to happen to me all race. And I lost SR. Next race I get 2 track limit penalties and have a similar spin, have some guy bump me wide on the straight, bump me through the midfield and then another push me off track by turning in on me and then just PIT maneuvering me on the front stretch. Filled my SR bar to 97 or better. Who knows how it works anymore, all the old understanding seems to make no sense now.

But SR repaired and on to Wednesday and whatever the ACC Lite daily race planners give us next week.
 
Feeling like I’m saying every week now but I’ll be glad when these tracks are out of the way, on paper they should be good tracks but Nurburgring is so difficult to overtake ppl tend to just fly in at the corners and the chicane.

Although I did get used to the genesis after hardly ever using it, managed a 1.28.7xx on RBR but I still find it too tail happy.

1.32.2xx for Nurburgring

Id like some Spa race B next week pls or interlagos, gr3, medium - thanks PD. 🙏

Noooo to spa! We get it enough between all the events, seasons, TTs! 🤣

Id actually like some Willow Springs and Trial Mountain and Fuji But guessing it will be my weaker tracks like Bathurst, spa etc 🤣
