Took a day off today to get some home-stuff done and finished early so hopped onto the Dailies to see what's there. Did a few laps driving non-meta around the Dragon Trail but soon realized GTR was needed.

Quite comfortable going round the track and I can gain at least 0.5s more time if I try hard enough, but will do some actual races now. Still early in the week, but Top 85 will do for now 😋 😊

Hope the standard of driving in lobbies is not gonna ruin it lol... 🫰🫰 Also found that for some reason, if you do not nail a time within the first 2 laps, it just gets worse and worse in terms of drivability! Maybe it's just me and my frustrations lol but after 2 attempts, I retry :D

** UPDATE **

Confirmed, racing is awful! Started in P7 and forget worrying about the chicane - it's the lag and horrible, dirty, nasty and unacceptable driving is what will get you! By some miracle, recovered to finish in P10 after dropping to P14 from all the multiple hits hits and lag spikes! Only lap I was not barged into was the lap following the one which practically ended my race (lap 3 or 4) after being punted from the Dragon Trail all the way to the Porcupine Pathway! ⚰️💩💔😭😡

Thanks for the video bud, always helpful,

I’m glad of DTS I have to say, I’m sitting there all week 😁

Happy racing week guys

Even with some pain killers and the shoulder starting to ease a little using the my first wheel (fisher price) level of torque

There is some weird SR stuff going on, lead flag to flag in 5 races, finish in second in 3 of them have 2 CLB and lose SR in B I have zero idea, no penalties, no wall contact and no contact with other drivers absolutely random as hell.

Edit:

Monday nights are so rough in GR4 everyone knows the tracks, the car is sorted early on

4 more races I start pole and 2 of them I quit the other 2 I walk it home.

I’m currently in B/S lobbies (high) and starting 1.4 to 1.8 seconds ahead and still in out braked, Jesus.

Gonna take a breath do work tomorrow and come back to this another day.

Some very good races this evening at Spa, I only managed 3 races but they were brilliant. I started the first race in the Lexus as that is what I set a QT time with. I really should have done some laps on hards prior but I was caught for time. Started on pole and opted for 4S/6H. Things were going well, 5 seconds up coming in to pit and then it went wrong 🤣🤣🙈. The Lexus on hards is like driving on ice 🙈 Got swallowed up by a Supra on softs at the start of lap 7 and barely held on to 2nd 10 seconds down. Being a bit smarter I changed to the GTR and again started on pole and this time went 6H/4S. This was a much better option and I came out of the pits in 2nd, 5 seconds down on P1. I chased him down and got past in the run down to the final chicane to win by .3 of a second. Third race was great fun. Again on pole and the same strategy as before. Was a bloody good race, really fair and clean but I just didn't have that bit extra to give. 0.5 seconds for the top 3 will tell how good it was 👌👌👌

I dunno man, that soft is VERY different tyre to the hard, gonna cause some drama.
It seems most people are going Hard then Soft. There doesn't seem to be enough benefit to running soft first and trying to build a gap.

Then again, it could be the company I keep 🤣

I thought I had third locked up but I came out the wrong side of drafting on the final lap. it's going to be a tough week in Race C.

I'll be doing Dragon Trail this week as it's a favorite of mine. I'm currently at a 1:47.3XX with loads of time to gain yet.

Race number 1 has me P6 on the grid. I get punted in the cruise turn and of course get stuck on the wall and fall to dead last. I fight my way back to P10. And by fight I mean pass people in the CoD that crashed.

Race 2 has me in P10 on the grid and is a demolition derby. I get punted again and it's elbows out the rest of the way. I make a clean pass then get rammed off the track by the driver I passed. 100% pure stupidity and I finish P13.

Like a dummy, I do a third race and start P4 this time. I saw a car with a Buffalo Bills (NFL team) livery, which just so happens to be the team I support. I give them a shout out in the pre-race chat. This race was much cleaner expect that I went off track on lap 1 in the uphill chicane. Some contact, but the normal close racign type so no big deal. I finish P5 and call it a night.

I hope everyone behaves in the coming days or I'll be taping out early this week.

Trust the car, soft's grip is immense.
Funny you say that, I checked more than once that I had softs on as I just wasn't feeling it! On the dpad I was very good around Spa, usually qualifying within 2.5% of the top time, but with a wheel, not sure what it is but I am very slow. In general i am struggling to know when to stop braking and to allow the car to coast, just not sure where the line is, and I think that is hurting me at Spa.

Have not tried those yet, no, not much time last night.

I feel I am struggling through Les Comb/Malmedy, feels very slippery compared to a pad, Pouhon doesn't feel good and whilst Fagnes feels OK I don't feel like I can dive in there like I did with a pad. I dunno, just not feeling confident at a track i know backwards.

Came home from work and something didn't sit right, a feeling deep inside. I checked the LB only to find that a less handi-capable friend (lol @newmedia_dev ) had overtaken my time and this was not acceptable! 😂

Came close a couple of times, could have even broken into the 45:4's but, at least for now, the natural order of the world has been restored 😋😂

I slam on the brakes as I approach the curbing on the left side before Les Comb

OK after a TERRIBLE time with the Mercedes, like could not drop lower than a 2.22 (I just do not gell with that car at all), I tried the GT40 and right away it felt the business. Ran a 19 flat so trimmed half a second but optimal was an 18.5, about where I feel I need to be. It confirms to me I am struggling with rotation because that car rotates better than most, i finally felt like I was attacking the track not tip-toeing around it.

I really need to work on raising my lowest speed in the corner, I am too slow at the apex. Through Malmedy and Fagnes (the left/rights) are you guys holding a gear and feathering the throttle along with some coasting or attacking then dabbing the brake to rotate?

I am struggling too on a track I am usually good at. For some strange reason I find that over braking is a real problem, I mean locking up and ploughing the corner. I never had this issue before. I have found that a track that comes naturally with a wheel has suddenly become very intense as you are really concentrating on your braking far more than you should. I am only using the T300 rs and I have played around with the springs on the brake pedal but I am not convinced it is something I am doing, I have done 100's of laps around there over the years but I too am finding it hard going

Have you tried the 650S yet?
To my taste, it feels like the safest option for SPA after the last BOP update.

Yep, no pace. Better than the Merc but no pace. Only car I could get into mid 19's was the Genesis and the Ford GT seems a solid 8 tenths faster. Also so many GR3 cars sound awful, McLaren, GTR, Genesis... BLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEH.... Ford GT ... good lord, TURN UP THE VOLUME.

With the wheel you have to really brake earlier but modulate it. You also have to be really patient or smoother on accelerating.

I think it’s just a practice and coordination thing you have to work through. Practice practice practice.

I’d personally recommend the GTR as it’s competitive and less tricky than the other FR cars.

The pace at spa is on really clean acceleration exits and a couple of coast but carrying speed corners.

Not being disingenuous but if you are using a wheel or a Controller are you watching @Tidgney Lap guides mate, you can be way faster even just braking way before he does and still make top 1000 times.

Agree on the practice thing. Tried the GTR, 2nd best car for me, forgot about that, but the Ford GT feels SO MUCH better on exit, I can launch our of corners. Tidge I watch every week but simply cannot rotate the car the way he does, I brake before he does and still wash wide.

I’d work on coming off the brake earlier and “letting” the car turn and grip.

I think you are probably braking too hard, too long and not in phases. That’s why your exits feel good because you’ll have loads of acceleration and possibly early on it as well but with more lock on.

Washing wide is caused by one thing, too much speed, you are accelerating too early, and counter intuitively probably taking to much speed to the apex.

Run the ghosts closer for a bit and reset them at sectors, you’ll start to smooth the braking out and acceleration as well.

So you went from controller to wheel recently and Spa is giving you trouble?

I find it is very specific corners, the left/right of Fagnes I was an animal on controller, really ripped through there and hugged kerbs but now I am tripping allover myself. La SOurce is another, just not timing the release point and turn point right which affects exit. But if I can do an 18.5m it's 2.5% from the fastest time so that's fine I reakon, could for high B and low A rooms.
