When I turned on the Ps5 this morning and looked at the dailies I nearly turned it off again šŸ™ˆ. Anyway, I did a bit of QT for race C in the G70 but I just do not like it at all. Decided to try the Atenza as I have never used it before. It's bloody good šŸ‘Œ. I have a bit more pace to find as I set a quicker lap in the race than I did in QT. My first wins on my main account in a very long time. It's getting a bit sweaty now so will call it quits while I'm ahead šŸ˜‰

I think it would be time to introduce new real circuits that can be suitable for those, like me, play about an hour a day and has no time to devote to learn the variants in the opposite direction of non-existent tracks.
I add that, since most of the users are in Japan, I suppose PD thinks it is more profitable to buy a license for four-wheel toilets like the Renault Kangoo instead of a Ferrari 296 Gr.3.

Not too jazzed about this week’s races, but man was Willow fun! Got 4 wins in B/S lobbies yesterday alone (did a 1:19.190 qt in cockpit view which put me at the sharp end of the grid). Racing was pretty clean too.

Hope everyone has a good week. Might try A for fun. Believe one of the two cars is the Initial D car, right?

I’m really good at Tokyo I love the combo always podium B lobby 1:56:4 for always pole position.

But now I remember why I quit racing on line.

Somebody could explain what’s the point in waiting 10-8 minutes between races?

It should be like any other matchmaking you just click enter race, the matchmaking happens and starts the race.

I can only play for 60-90 min and the half of that time I’m just waiting

I am writing this between races.

I have more fun testing cars and grinding or anything else.

That’s the biggest flaw of sport mode and that’s why I never play it.

Try the GTR mate! Takes a few laps to get used to the understeer but now that I am dialed in, it's only getting better!

While I'm certainly not arguing against getting tracks, I think the current Daily malaise is more the fact that it's just been the same thing on repeat for so long - even by the standards of Sport Mode, the last year or so has been extremely rote.
I think this is the main thing and even if you factor in some of the bop changes or handling updates it still boils down to the same few people in the same few cars.
Even if you're someone really into GT3 racing, basically a full year of "here's one 18 minute race and one 8 minute race, in the same cars with the same setups on the same 15-20 tracks with one of two strategies depending on whether the tyre multiplier is high enough" is going to get, and has gotten, old.
I think the reality is a lot of sport mode racers are real race fans but want the racing part to be fun and different which is where real life deviates from that, it is as described above the same tracks the same pounding out laps and practice sessions etc which while the real world isn’t actually fun to a casual (serious but casual set of racing fans)
I'm personally not a fan of rallying or suspension changes but I hear ya. I just find there's too many gimmicky tracks, there's not enough straight forward, straight up regular race tracks. St Croix and Lemans and Nord are way too long, Tokyo is a wall fuelled crash fest, grand valley and Alsace are really odd to say the least .... i like proper racing circuits. NGP, Bathurst, Barcelona, Seaside, Trial Mountain ..... etc etc.
Seaside and TM are fantasy tracks with some very weird corner profiles 🤣 but great for actual racing.

I don’t think it’s the tracks just how it very very quickly just descends in to single make racing for 6 days and that alongside the latest handling model has brought the racing closer but probably too close especially with the custom slip stream crap.

Hey, guys. More or less 10 days ago I started taking part in Daily Races. Some races I do enjoy…like yesterday I had a great race against a Ferrari at Suzuka. Great Sportsmanship. Today, I struggle to finish a race at Tokyo as I am mostly taken out at the first turn. I usually start from the first 3 positions

I am now at C level and I am aware I just need to survive.

I have some general questions with regards to exactly this - surviving. If I am being taken out at T1, shall I still continue or OK to exit the race? I see my DR/SR drop when I exit, I think. Maybe I just need to start from the back and see how 50% of the guys take themselves out?

Need to find a way to survive till I get to a lobby where people race less brutal and do not dive bomb on you at the first corner:-) I think unintentionally people think they might outbrake you and win the race at the first corner:-)

Thanks for the tips

In the last eleven months, there have been 2 race Cs and 0 race Bs not in Gr.1-4 (one in the X2019, one in the RA272). They've used weather twice in that span, and they've done longer races twice in that span (unsurprisingly, the weather and longer distance were the same two races). And obviously they never use the smaller tracks or rally tracks that aren't built for the cars they run. They've even stopped doing fuel races or ever allowing suspension tuning as far as I can recall.

It makes sense to what GT7 is.

We mainly get GR3 and GR4, or one-make races, because they offer the most balanced cars, which makes the races more accessible.

GR1 and GR2 largely become one-make races due to how unbalanced those classes are, and throw in the dirty air issue (that reduces downforce and grip the closer you get, making it harder to pass), and you have races that largely become mundane - if you're first at the end of lap 1, unless you bin it you're likely to be first at the finish because everyone else has dirty air where you don't.

The game is supposed to be accessible to enthusiasts of varying skill, so PD lean in on a Road Car for Daily A, and GR3 and GR4 for the rest, because they're the most balanced/accessible.

I saw you "cheating" by opting for the meta for Race C times so.... Your fault! You brought it on yourself! 🤣 🤪

Do not quit as it's the one thing that KILLS DR/SR more than any other potential outcome after entering a race, lol. Seriously, finishing last will do less damage.šŸ‘

Beyond that, awareness is king. Watch your mirrors and try not to be where everyone else is headed. For instance, when everyone is diving for the apex, run the outside line. While you're out there, learn how to drive the track from everywhere other than the racing line.

When passing, try not to put yourself on the outside of someone around a turn. Slowing down to follow them through is still faster than getting pushed into the grass/sand/Narnia and waiting for a tow truck...or finding reverse. Not sure which one is quicker when mad.

Most importantly, keep it on the track, avoid the mayhem where you can and let attrition do its thing. Oh, and don't get mad.🤣

Thank you very much! I know that I mess to get through this and I am trying to do it as wise as I can. Ideally I always start from P1 and drive so fast that noone will see me….but I am not yet there:-)))

Thank you for letting me know about not exiting the game. I lost some DR that I will need to recover. I was not aware. But at the same time, hard to come back to a race when an overly zealous colleague sends you into a wall!

Also, my observation is that Suzuka last week was a lot cleaner than Tokyo this week. I felt like I am really racing at Suzuka while I am mainly avoding people hitting me at Tokyo. But I agree, I need to learn to anticipate and manage it too.

Would it be logical to focus on C races only? Somehow I feel they are better from sporting behavior stand point. Or maybe it is just Tokyo this week.

p.s. I am not at all mad. Just want to go through is as pain free as possible and as wisely as possible. Learn the lessons, avoid wasting time:-)

Regrettably, despite setting a time for it, I didn't make time to do Race A last week, but that's alright because I'm certainly looking forward to the current Race B. Not even just because of the massive credit boost, but also because I genuinely enjoy both layouts of Tokyo Expressway South.

Great effort mate. My SR rating has gone down and getting the age old victim of a crash and getting the penalty instead. Going to try the BMW on your recommendation though.

Edit: no difference that I can tell.

Race A: Trueno - 2:31.941 Losing valuable tenths on the main and back straights

Race B: NSX Gr.3 - 1:58.885 Curse you, walls! /shakesfist

Race C: NSX Gr.4 - 2:01.716 Don't quite have the rhythm

Race A and C look fun. Hustling the AE86 around Trial Mountain is pretty relaxing. No strat Grand Valley is a shame.

The thought of Race B in traffic is making my eye twitch. I need to work out how I'm four seconds slower than my TT at Tokyo.

Good luck out there!

Great tips from @mellofello9 , I can't stress enough the "not get mad" advice, never ever retaliate, it will never be worth it. This is something that took me too long to learn. If someone kills you, sends you to to last position 10 seconds behind the car ahead, breathe and start the chase, or try to do a fast lap, that will be it, better luck next time, is part of the game.

Also, while being p1 and escaping the mess is perfect, but for now I would recommend you to get into the group, this is where you will learn racecraft, a skill that will be crucial when you will start competing in B and A lobbies, and of course if you reach A+. Now is the time to learn how to position yourself in race and to predict what others will do etc.

Time between races you need I find, out some extra qualifying laps in or just to get a drink and reset

Sometimes I only do every other one, to get some quality qualifying time in.

I agree though sometimes the race times between different hoppers could compliment each other more, seems like every time I jump out of one I just miss the other 🤣

I might just add that when I did my first few laps at GV this morning I hated it !!!🤣. I actually really enjoy it now.
It has a really good mix of corners that definitely test how brave you are on the throttle and at the same time how patient you are on it too. The Atenza struggles badly on the exit of the sharp uphill hairpin but it is very good when it gets wound up. I also found it very good on the brakes. It is definitely worth looking at if you are sick of the meta car šŸ‘šŸ‘ For what it's worth I found -3 BB suits me but obviously that is a personal choice.

This will be just early doors/the first races people are doing. It’s typically a fairly clean race as everyone just wants to get round.

Also early doors there is usually a pace difference and it can be quite large, let the week settle a bit šŸ‘

What a rollercoaster was my weekend at Willow Springs. Like Roy Batty: "I've seen things that you, humans..."
I had few real take offs, like "Vooolaree ooh, ooh". I trashed last corner not so often, but when I did it, it was with style. I mean, from 9 to 15 sec loss. I didn't get any penalties for track limits in race (?!?), 3 for collisions. In all three cases I believe that lag has a lot to do with it. I needed to apologise for few punts also. Sometimes, even being an "early braker", I managed to hit the guy in front with enormous speed delta. I was just a passenger unable to take evasive actions to avoid the guy rather than killing him, but not getting penalised. šŸ¤”
Long story short; I started racing Friday as DR A, demoted to B Sunday afternoon and climbed back to A before the beginning of the F1's gp. When climbing back to DR A, I ended up as "sole" B in A+/A lobbies. Saturday evening was the worst in terms of "aggressiveness", but it was overall a very good and fair racing mood all weekend. I can't name not even one "pink driver". It was my first week with just good greetings in pre-lobby. What about that? Thanks everybody out there for the amazing racing (some were from this forum and it's always a pleasure to meet and race with people you can trust). Willow btw is now my preferred track. It's pure old style hardcore tarmac and sand. "Guts" is needed, especially if you're in pole and the 2nd has that ridiculous tow from you on straights. I really hope that PD could take Willow in better consideration for the future, with also Gr.3 and some strategy, maybe. The only minus is that, now, I'll have to cope with the disappointment of not seeing Willow in a "Daylies" for a while.

Impressive šŸ‘Œ Bank holiday here in Ireland and I have had a few pints so will give the GTR a try tomorrow 🤣🤣🤣. I am confident I can get into the 58's with the mazda but I will give the Nissan a shot šŸ‘

I will keep improving my lap, working on consistency and and lets see where I am at by the end of the week. But I did learn something today for sure. Better to finish 3rd, 4th or 5th….but finish.
